Wonderful kitchen items for the Orchid....

Hallo Mini-friends!

I just wanted to show you the wonderful kitchen items I won in the
giveaway of Windy Point Miniatures!!!

It is unbelievable how tiny the forks are...
it was hard to arrange them in a nice way on the table since my fingers are too big :-)

And there were additional items in the letter I received!!!
4 tiny napkins and a lovely little book!!

Thank you very much, Jennifer!!!!

This is a picture of the kitchen in the Orchid.
As you can see there are million of things missing!

I bought this Bespaq hutch a few years ago when I was at the miniature fair
in Soest (Germany).
To make it a little bit more shabby chic I added some laces and pink paper.

And this oven was a bargain I saw on the internet on "willhaben".
I think this this is something like "craigslist"?!

So, if you also want to have such wonderful kitchen items as I have
visit Jennifer etsy shop!
There you will find many lovely things!!!

See you soon,
Hugs Lina

The roof is finished....

I'm absolutely overwhelmed that I have sooooooo many followers in such a short time since I started this blog!

Again, I thank you all for following!!!!!!

Last weekend I worked many hours to finish the front and the roof of the Orchid. Inspired by the "Shabby Cottage" of  Liberty Biberty I made the house similar to the roof of the Shabby Cottage.

First I tried to glue the shingles on the roof but it didn't work and after two rows of shingles I was so angry about the poor quality that I removed them again. So I just painted the wood of the roof with grey emulsion paint and added some wood stripes as soon as the color was dry. Subsequently I painted the complete roof (including the wood stripes) again. After drying I used very thin black color to make the roof a little bit shabby and dirty.

As you can see I also added a gazebo to the house. I didn't like the bay window as it was planned by the company so decided to change it. I also changed the roof of the bay window.
I will not put the trimmings on the house because they are a little bit to kitschy for my taste. Probably I will put some of them on the roof... we will see...

I'm not sure if I will post something in the next days.  I will be in London next week for business reasons and we are moving to a new apartment at the end of January.
This will be a loooooot of work :-(

See you soon,
Lina

Porch and door...

Today I tried to attach the entrance door of the Orchid in a way that it is possible to open and close it.
First I used hinged joints but it was almost impossible to nail them into the wood of the house. The hinge joints were unsteady and I removed them again.
Later I tried to use some fabrics as joints but I could not glue the fabric to the wood....
However I glued the door fix to the house so there is no possibity to open and close it :-(
For the next dollhouse I will buy a moveable door and use it instead of the Greenleaf door.

I used a chair to keep the door knob in place after adding the glue.

The door is now fixed and a little bit open.
I think this looks a little bit more hospitable!

The outside of the house at the moment...

The best Christmas surprise ever!!

Last Christmas my beloved partner surprised me with a dollhouse kit from Greenleaf!!!
He ordered the house in the USA and it was delivered to Austria within a few days. Unfortunately, the only way to buy a Greenleaf kit for Europeans is to order it on the internet. And the price for the kit doubles usually due to shipping and the custom duty.

However, since Christmas I'm the proud owner of "the Orchid" dollhouse!

Immediately, I started to build this beautiful house and as you can see on the pictures the building process is going well.

This is a complete view of the back side of the house...

This will be the tiny living room:
The fireplace is made from cardboard and painted with dispersion paint. I'm not really pleased with the result because the paint was a little bit too thick for my taste.

The stair in the kitchen is still under construction....

This will be the bedroom...

And finally the house has a tiny bathroom.
The wallpaper in the bathroom is scrap booking paper and I think it looks lovely!

There are still many things left to do... windows.. the door... and the complete outside of the house. Also many gaps have to be filled with paint.

I hope you enjoy the tour throug my (empty) Orchid!
