for your inspiration 36

This is my second post today; please scroll down for my CASE study card :)

Oh my, this is the last of the photo challenges from For Your Inspiration for a while :( The challenge is taking a little break until the New Year but what a photo to go out on!

I was particularly wowed by the graduated colours in the sky and the sweep of the wall. I got out my Distress Markers and scribbled with dusty concord and wild honey over a panel of white card. Then I spritzed it with water, spritzed a bit more, splashed a bit and a bit more until finally I was happy! I punched some butterflies from left overs and added them with rhinestones in a swoosh across the panel reminiscent of the movement the wall created in the original photograph.

Well that's me for today. Please pop by these lovely ladies to see how they were inspired. We will be back again in the New Year :)

Supplies: Stamps - Hero Arts good friends; Inks - Versafine onyx black; Distress Markers - dusty concord, wild honey; Punch - Martha Stewart; Stampin' Up rhinestones

This is my second post today. Please scroll down to see my blog hop card celebrating CASE study's 2nd anniversary :)

This is the amazing photo from For Your Inspiration this week!

Unfortunately my time constraints have meant that I just haven't had the opportunity to make a card this time :( I love the kids being home over the summer holidays but the family vacation and time away visiting family wreck havoc on my crafty time. We seem to have a whirlwind of washing, packing, away, unpacking, washing, packing, away ....... and repeat! We are home based for the rest of the holidays now though. Phew! Although visitors arrive at the end of the week LOL.

I hope you have time to make a card for this inspiration photo as it is stunning :) Here's the rest of the crew:

Here's this week's inspiration photo from FYI :)

Aren't those colours amazing! I was particularly inspired by that flare of light amongst the colours. I remembered a card by Heather Nichols that I'd seen the style and technique of which I'd really wanted to try. So here you go my card inspired by this week's photo and this card by Heather Nichols.

The first Thursday in the month means it's time for another photo challenge from For Your Inspiration. How about this summer lovely :)

Initially I was drawn to the shape of the archways and windows and I started thinking of the different dies I had that might suit but finally it was the shape of the roof that inspired me to make this card.

The top of the lighthouse was just the same shape and I selectively stamped that in blue to match. The rest of the lighthouse I stamped in a pale grey and then used markers to add some shading. Finally I masked the lighthouse and stamped the rays. These ideas are not my own but ones I picked up from the Wplus9 blog and their DT :) I've been wanting to try out this set for a while having seen their lovely projects.

Right, if you have time, pop by these lovely ladies and see how they were inspired:
Supplies: Stamps - Wplus9 guiding light, super star; Inks - Versafine smoky gray, Versacolor cement, sky gray, sky blue, scarlet, Martha Stewart meyer lemon; Dies - Wplus9 hearts and clouds die; Rhinestones - Stampin' up

So it is time for our second challenge of June at For Your Inspiration and it is this icy beauty:

I didn't use a winter theme with this one but instead concentrated on the colours and structure of the bridge. When looking at the bridge with it's watery reflection I saw this Waltzingmouse label stamp with a central circle!

The label is clear embossed on Sahara Sand cardstock with a white die cut circle for the centre. Then I embellished the label with some die cut white branches.

I hope you can find the time to join us. Here’s the rest of the team for more inspiration:

Supplies: Stamps - Waltzingmouse Stamps vintage labels 18, Papertrey Ink through the trees; Ink - Versamark, Hero Arts Shadow Ink wet cement; Card - Stampin' Up sahara sand; Die - Sizzix flowers, branches and leaves set

So as I was looking at the photograph of the crumbling walls with the dark sky and the orange lit archways and you know what I thought of - HALLOWEEN! I know, only 4 months early :) but I think it's great to go where inspiration takes you!

Have a little look here:

Isn’t that picture just gorgeous! I bet we all would like to be there with the sun on our faces. Pulling you back to the here and now, we at For Your Inspiration are hoping the above picture gets your fingers itching to put ink to paper! It’s not going to be a big surprise when I say that it was the colours that inspired me! Those warm oranges and yellows with the black trees overlaid got me reaching for my ink pads and here’s what I came up with.

FYI30

I stamped the larger leaf in papaya and the smaller leaf in meyer lemon and then overlaid the black sentiment. A button with a flourish of twine finished it off.

I hope you can find the time to join us. Here’s the rest of the team for more inspiration:
Supplies: Stamps – Stampin’ Up french foliage, Hero Arts hooray; Inks – Amuse papaya, Martha Stewart meyer lemon, Versafine onyx black; button; twine

So what do we have in store for you at For Your Inspiration this week? Take a little look!

Sea, sky, waterfalls and lush greens – plenty of routes for your inspiration to take you! I went with the lush greens and combined them with a digi image from our sponsors for challenge 29 - Fresh Brewed Designs.

FYI29

This little coffee cup was a delight to colour and although you can’t see very well in this picture I printed the image out three times – once onto the white mat, once for the main image which I popped up and once for the lid and coffee cozy which I coloured and cut out and again popped up for more dimension.
Please call by these lovely ladies for more inspiration:

I'm popping in here this morning with a wonderful photo for our next For Your Inspiration challenge.

I must admit that this one had me stumped for a loooooong time! I love the orange trend which seems to be emerging at the moment, but I'm afraid I'm not a big fan of purple. However, once I'd decided to incorporate the purple as a dark card base on which to sit a white mat with splash of orange I quite liked the end result.

Supplies: Stamps - Hero Arts antique engravings, Papertrey Ink pretty peonies; Ink - Versafine onyx black; Card - Stampin' Up elegant eggplant; Dies - Spellbinders circles; Markers

I combined this challenge with A Blog Named Hero's challenge to create a card with a window.

And I'm also going to pop it into the gallery for day 2 of the online card class "A Cut Above" which was to make a window card :)

Please call be these lovely ladies for more inspiration and I hope you get the chance to play along with us this week :)

I'm going to jump right in with this stunning, dramatic photo for this weeks For Your Inspiration challenge.

This month For Your Inspiration is being sponsored by The Cutting Cafe and I used their "You're in my thoughts greetings inside and out" set on my card today.

I was drawn to that little black and yellow buoy floating in the corner and I translated that into a chevron background with a pop of yellow and then the upright structure of the lighthouse became my flowers!

Supplies: Stamps - Paper Smooches geo-graphic; Digi - The Cutting Cafe you're in my thoughts greetings inside and out; Inks - Versacolor sky gray, canary; Paper - Papertrey Ink smokey shadow, Stampin' Up basic black; Die - Memory Box chloe stem; Stampin' Up rhinestones

Although it doesn't show up in this photo particularly well, one flower stem is cut in dark grey and one in black.

And here's a look at the inside. So the sentiment reads "Please forgive me .... Your friendship means a lot to me!"

I really must do more with the insides of my cards. I always add a mat of white card to give a nice finish and depending on the colour of the card base, a white mat is easy to write on. However, I've seen some lovely insides of cards where the inside has been given as much care and attention as the front. Something to work on :)

It's the first Thursday in the month and that means a new photo from For Your Inspiration! Feast your eyes on this sunset scene!

In particular I was taken with the white buildings against those strong colours. I translated that inspiration into this clean and graphic congratulations card that I thought would be great for someone celebrating a promotion at work.

Are you ready for another challenge photo from For Your Inspiration? I hope so because here it is!

What stuck me in this photo was the dominant tree in the foreground along with the horizontal line of the water. Here's my card :)

Supplies: Stamps - Penny Black fantasy, Papertrey Ink polka dot basics, birthday basics, Hero Arts big eyes; Inks - Amuse grass, Versacolor seashell, pinecone, Versamark; Card - Stampin' Up lucky limeade, blushing bride; Dies - Spellbinders circles, scalloped circles, Lil' Inker Designs flags and tags; Paper - Echo Park victoria garden; Brad - Stampin' Up in color printed designer brad; White embossing powder

I stamped the tree in a fresh green and then added small dots of pink to represent spring flowers - they don't show up very well in the photo unfortunately. The banner created the horizontal line I was after and then I dressed up the corner with a few die cuts.

Please stop by the rest of the Design Team for more inspiration. it is with great sadness that we wish farewell to Keva and Peggy after this challenge. We will miss you girls.

Here's the photo for the current For Your Inspiration challenge.

Hmm, now I must admit to finding this one a bit tricky but hey that's what a challenge is all about isn't it?!
I used the little kitty from kennykdownloads (our sponsor this challenge) and coloured him in tones of grey to match the building.

Supplies: Stamps - kennykdownloads kitty, Paper Smooches party posse; Card - Stampin' Up basic grey, tempting turquoise; Twine - Divine Twine; Dies - Spellbinders circles, My Favourite Things say what; Stampin' Up rhinestones

Those concentric shapes were catching my eye and after puzzling over them for a bit I created concentric circles of card to make a negative die cut frame for the little kitty. I used more grey and some blue for the sky. OK actually it was turquoise but I felt it needed a bit of brightening! Phew, I think it was OK in the end.

Aren't the colours in this weeks For Your Inspiration Challenge stunning!

I took a smidge of the green and a splash of the orange and came up with this card.

Supplies: Stamps - Papertrey Ink background basics vines, Waltzingmouse Stamps say it with style; Inks Versanark, Versafine onyx black; Card - Stampin' Up sahara sand; Prima flower; White embossing powder; Dies - Papertrey Ink angled labels

It's always worth having an apologies card on hand, especially with my memory just of late! I white embossed the vine image onto sahara sand card and then used my markers to fill in the open leaves. I placed my sentiment on an angled labels die cut and added a Prima flower for colour.

There will be some Design Team changes coming up next month and Steph is looking for a couple more designers to add to the group. If you are interested, email Steph (onecraftychica@gmail.com) with your contact information, your blog address, and three of your best projects. Applications should be in by 31st January and will be notified by 4th February with the new term starting March 1st.

Are you ready for a new photo instalment from For Your Inspiration? How about this for amazing architecture!

This challenge is sponsored by the Wax Fruit Company who are offering a prize of a $15 store credit! I chose to work with their "birdhouse row" digi as the shapes of the houses reminded me of the arches of the cathedral.

Supplies: Stamps - Wax Fruit Company birdhouse row, Waltzingmouse Stamps teeny trees; Inks - Versacolor pinecone; Card - Stampin' Up rose red; Twine - The Twinery cappuccino; Button - Papertrey Ink spring mix; Dies - Speelbinders labels 14; Promarkers

I tried to pick out some of the pink/peach hues for my colour palette.

I actually really liked this card but wondered if it was too plain, so I did another one using deeper colours, a bit more layering and some patterned paper.

Supplies: Stamps - Wax fruit Company birdhouse row, Waltzingmouse Stamps teeny trees; Inks - Versacolor pinecone; Card - Stampin' Up cherry cobbler, Papertrey Ink rustic white, enchanted evening; Paper - Echo Park winter park; Dies Papertrey Ink scallop die

Which one do you prefer?

Here's the design team list so you can stock up on New Year inspiration! I hope you find time to join us this week.
