Tuesday Stuff

Just a quick post about my contest goodies. Nancy has started another group on Yahoo. This one is a little different. Hooks n Needles is a crafty group....knitting, crochet, sewing, quilting, cross stitch, plastic canvas.....you get the idea. So far, she's doing great! I really like that the KALs aren't strictly dishcloths. Our first KAL was the Pocketbook Slippers from Alli. It's a nice friendly group and pretty relaxed. Mary and I guessed correctly what the KAL was so we won some nice goodies....I got a nice pair of the slippers (that I've already worn...very comfy) and a KnitSimple magazine (my first one) and an awesome bag. This is a huge bag! I could fit so much stuff in this bag. Thanks, Nancy! She gives awesome prizes!

Got some more rain here today...not a lot but just enough to cool things off a bit. Not that it was really hot to begin with. It's a cool 80 degrees now with a nice breeze blowing. Maggie and I spent some time outside this afternoon before the rain started just running around playing. Unfortunately, she sniffed around and found herself an anthill...fire ants no less. Her little paws and snout were covered in a matter of seconds. Luckily, Ms Thang saw it ASAP and grabbed her up and brought her to me. I got all the nasty buggers off and she was fine and raring to go again. I think she actually wanted to go back to the anthill. She must be a glutton for punishment. I didn't let her....those things are vicious! My sister gave her a little plastic ball and she's a very happy camper now.(except for knocking over the water bowl playing with it)

I almost forgot to show you the other new babies. Three new kitties. They're really cute and man can they get around! They've been eating solid food already and they are so funny to watch out there playing. Time to find them some good homes now while they're all cute and irresistible. :P

Back to the bags!
Hugs!

Time For Some New Things

I have been fighting a stinking cold for what seems like forever now. Does this make you make all fuzzy headed? I can't seem to keep up some days. :P I will be so glad when this is over so I can think like a normal person again. At least today, I can breathe freely. YAY!!

This is one of my new things. My snail dishcloth. It's going on the Dishing Knit Out site. I thought she turned out pretty cute.

And my little chick who will also be there. I'm trying to get new designs charted up and done. It has been so long. I've really neglected that site.

This is my newest venture. My friend Shirl has done a few KALs to help out in one of our groups while the owner was sick. Now that she's feeling better....I thought it would be a nice surprise to set up a dishcloth KAL group for her. She's so sweet and really enjoys doing the KALs. So, if anyone is interested....come on over to Shirley's Knitting Knook and join us for some friendly chat and two KALs a month. Not a lot of rules....just friends hanging out, chatting and knitting. We'd sure love to have you. You can also leave me a comment (or Froggie...she's gonna be there too of course) and we'll send you an invite. It's gonna be pretty lonely without our friends there to hang out with us.

ILOVEKANDCALONGS Update

I wanted to pass along some information for anyone who was a member of the SASE group which has been deleted without any warning whatsoever. There was a KAL planned (The Icelandic Shawl) and kits ordered and then the group just mysteriously disappeared so...our wonderful Cat has re-opened the ILOVEKANDCALONGS group for anyone who wants to re-join. This group was closed when SASE supposedly resumed out of respect for the owner. We are back up and running with the Icelandic KAL scheduled for January and a beautiful scarf KAL that starts Friday (tomorrow). Please feel free to join us...Cat has tried very hard to send invites to anyone who was a member before and to other SASE members as well. If you didn't receive an invite, please don't think that you were forgotten or ignored. All the information in the SASE went POOF along with the group itself. We do want you to join and hope you come with us. If you were not a member of either group, that's okay, too. Come on over and join in, we'd love to have you there. The more, the merrier!

Eyelet Rib Ensemble

This is my latest cloth attempt from the Cloth Of The Week Group. It was so simple to do and yet it looks almost like a cable. I love patterns like this...make me look like a much better knitter than I actually am. This photo shows the color better than the second one.

I just cannot stress enough how wonderful this group is. The designers are so helpful and they are available to help you and answer your questions. This is a great way to learn new stitches and expand your knitting knowledge without having to jump into some big complicated project. And once you've finished the design of the week, you have a cloth you can use or give as a gift. I'm saving all my favorite ones to give as Christmas and birthday gifts to family and friends.

This photo doesn't do the color justice but I think it shows the stitch pattern pretty well. This cloth is actually a little small but last weeks PSSO Rib Ensemble gave me such a fit, I just wanted to test the waters and make sure I could actually do this one. I will have to keep trying on last weeks...can't for the life of me figure out why I have so much trouble with it but it just doesn't like me very well.

The more I look at this pattern, the more I keep thinking..."What an awesome scarf this would make!" If any of you are looking for a way to learn new techniques without getting in over your head, this group is perfect. You should join us. There's a button on the left side of my blog...I really think you'll like it. I've only been a member for less than a month now and I've learned quite a few new things already.

As an afterthought, I wanted to post the back view of this cloth. Actually, to be perfectly honest, I'm not sure which is the front and which is the back. lol It's pretty on both sides. I'm still thinking scarf.....
