Totally Gorjuss 239 - Embossing.

Hi everyone, isn't it nice to be Saturday again and have a chance to have some time to yourself. I hope. I have to work this morning as usual. I feel as if I've never been off work. My lovely freedom is just a memory!

This week at Totally Gorjusswe'd like to see some embossing on your card. We're sponsored by Which Craft UK who are offering £20 to spend on card blanks.

I've been having a spell of making Golden Wedding cards just now. This is the one I made for my lovely brother and sister-in-law who celebrated their anniversary yesterday. I'll show you the other two some other time.

I used :-
Sentiment :- Rubber Stampede.
Embossing folder :- Couture Creations.
Flowers :- EK Success punches.
Butterflies :- Stampin' Up!
Lace :- Ribbon Girl.
Pearls :- Hobby House.
Nesties.

I've been knitting a summer top in the gorgeous Debbie Bliss luxury silk print double knitting. The colours are lovely and it's a chevron pattern which suits the yarn perfectly. I never sew up things quickly, in fact I still have an Aran cardigan to sew up which I finished knitting weeks ago! But this time I'm dying to see my top finished so I think I'll sew it up this afternoon. I'll let you see it when it's finished.

Anyway thanks for looking. Catch you all later.

Totally Gorjuss 236 - Lace.

Good morning everyone. Hasn't it been a lovely sunny, warm week. Well I hope it has been for everyone. It's been lovely here but now it's Saturday and it's looking a bit cloudy!

Time for another challenge at Totally Gorjuss. This week we'd like to see lace on your card. I've added a piece of lace but you could use a lace die cut or doily if you like. I must apologise if you can't see my lace very well. It is there but it's a bit hidden by the image and the ribbon! I made the card for a colleague who wanted a special card for her granddaughter's first birthday. And she likes a lot of bling.

I used :-
Image :- LOTV topper.
Lace and ribbon :- Ribbon Girl.
Gems :- Hobby House.
Corner :- Whimsy.
Sentiment :- Stampin' Up!e Glamour Dust and Nesties.

As usual must apologise for being a bad blogger. I'm still off wme ork and you'd think I'd have lots of time to blog but somehow it doesn't happen! This week I've been at the nurse, the doctor and the dentist. Thankfully I don't need to see any of them again, at least not for a long time I hope! I can go back to work next week :(  Probably for the best as I'm enjoying being at home too much! I've also been baking for my WRI meeting so that was an evening out, an afternoon at our knitting and crochet group. And I nearly forgot an afternoon doing craft at Messy Church and time preparing for it. Wow when I see all that written down it does look like a busy week. Good thing I wasn't working too!!

I've got a crop this afternoon so I'd best go and try to organise something to do there. Lots to do but not much motivation. I need a 90th birthday card for my neighbour, a birthday card for my daughter and 2 new baby cards and a big brother card. Plenty to keep me occupied.

Thanks for looking and surely I can manage to do more blogging this week. If that dratted internet connection lets me.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Love!

One of our Messy Church leaders asked me to make her a Valentine card. She's actually going to give a service/talk at a local nursing home so she wanted a large card. She gave me some card which unfortunately she had already folded! I don't know about you but I can't work with card that isn't straight and this wasn't straight in any direction. Unfortunately it was such a big piece of card that it didn't fit in my guillotine or trimmer. I persevered though and got it to a more manageable size. I still wasn't comfortable with it as it is much bigger than the biggest card I've ever made. I left it with my colleague at the post office and Beatrice's husband picked it up today. She sent me a text to say she was delighted with it. Quite a surprise! But you can judge for yourselves as here it is.

I used :-
Hearts :- Nesties.
Butterflies :- vellum and punch both from Stampin' Up!
Sentiment :- Cut out with Cricut.
Pearls :- Hobby House.
DP :- LOTV.
Ribbon from stash.

She didn't want anything fancy. Suggested maybe a heart but I couldn't imagine a card this size with a heart so I tried to keep it simple but just kind of size it up from my usual type of card. Anyway if she's happy, I'm happy!

Thanks for looking and I'll see you tomorrow with some baby cards I made for a colleague to give her a choice.

Woof, Woof!

Hi everyone, I'm here a bit later than planned. As usual! Last night I was all set to schedule this post for this morning but thanks to my miserable broadband connection I couldn't even get online. Grrrrr.... But here I am now with an extremely simple, easy card. I got this new Labrador die in the post on Friday and thought I'd make a card with it and enter the challenge at Less is More. But of course I was too late so I thought I'd put it on on Sunday morning. Oh well it's here now! Famous last words, it's now about 3 hours since I started this post. My connection was so bad this afternoon that I couldn't upload my photo!!

Success at last! I suppose that's a penalty of living in the country, you are privileged to pay the same for your  broadband but a lot of the time you can't get online!

I used:-
Labrador die cut :- Poppy Stamps (Memory Box).
Sentiment :- Stampin' Up!
Nestabilities, ribbon from stash.

Not sure it fits any challenges but I couldn't resist using this lovely new die.

Found some!
Stampin' for the Weekend :- Monochrome.
Crafting When we Can :- Use punches or die cuts.
Crafty Ribbons :- Anything Goes with Ribbon.
CAS on Sunday :- Make it masculine.

Thanks for looking. Hope everyone's having a lovely Bank Holiday weekend. Needless to say I have to work on Monday but I have the next Monday off so I'm looking forward to that.

Yummy Bunnies.

I'm a bit late with this post. I seem to have spent my time before making tea catching up with my favourite blogs and challenges. I'll make this short because I still have my ironing to do!

I can't take any credit for these bunnies at all as someone more talented than me had the idea of making one and worked out how to make them.

At the crop last month one of my friends was making bunnies to hold Easter Eggs. She had found them in a magazine. I don't know which magazine but I'm sure some of you will recognise them. My friend who comes to mine every Wednesday bought the magazine and decided to make some too. So I thought why not? Neither of us fancied cutting out the bits with a knife so we used dies. She lent me her Sizzix ones for the ears and feet as my oval nesties are fatter than her Sizzix ovals. The teeth and nose are little hearts that I cut with a Memory Box die. The whiskers are fine string that my friend stiffened. I think the bunny on the right must have rubbed his nose before I took the photo as his whiskers look a bit odd!

The ones in the magazine look quite cute but I think mine have a kind of "caught in the headlights" look!! Still I don't suppose Poppy and Oliver will mind. After all there's chocolate eggs inside them.

I'm entering the challenge at Papertake Weekly which is Easter Treats.

Thanks for looking and for any comments you leave. I think I'll go off and so some DT work now before I do my ironing.

A snowflake is........

Last night I spent what felt like hours cutting out various Spellbinders snowflakes. Funnily enough none of them are on this card!!

I was inspired by a background that Kath demonstrated last year. I think she embossed the white snowflakes and that would probably have been a better idea since mine don't show up very well! I've been waiting for a chance to use this sentiment so trying out this type of background was the ideal opportunity.

I used :-
Snowflakes and sentiment :- Hero Arts.
Nestie die, ribbon and gems and Distress Ink round the edge of the Kraft card.

Very simple but I quite like it.

I'm entering the following challenges :-
Creative Inspirations :- Christmas in September.
Paperplay :- Choose a holiday - Christmas.
Secret Crafter :- Distressing. I hope you can see the distressing. I think I should have used a darker shade of Distress Ink as even in real life it's a bit faint!

I would claim to be having a more relaxing evening today but I've done my ironing first before I sat down to write this post! I made another card later last night after my marathon snowflake diecutting session but I'm keeping it for the moment. I will show it soon though but now I'm going to have a look at these snowflakes and try to come up with some more ideas for Christmas cards.

Thanks for looking a please feel free to leave me a comment if you have a minute to spare. Then I'll know I'm not speaking to myself!

Sweet Baby Boy.

Good morning everyone. Hope the weather conditions are better here today. Tuesday wasn't that cold but the rain on Monday had made everything so slippy that I could hardly walk the dogs. Thats the disadvantage of living in the country, the snow turns icy where cars have been and then it can take ages to get rid of the ice!

Here's the card I made for one of the girls at work who is delighted to be a granny to a gorgeous baby boy.It was nice to make something that wasn't a Christmas card. I feel as if I've been making Christmas cards for ever. Actually I checked back and I made the first one in January!

I love this image from Pink Gem, that baby is so cute!
This is my day off and I might nip to the garden centre to get some of those liqueur chocolates with cherries that Mhairi wants in her stocking. Apart from that I think I've got everything I need and if not.......tough!!

Catch you all later.

Colour Create Challenge 82 - Burgundy, Gold, Green & Cream.

Hi everyone, I'm still struggling to get anything done this week. I'm still training my new assistant so I had to be at work all day today. I've got my fingers crossed for my day off on Thursday. I had the day off on Monday after being away at the SECC on Sunday but I managed to achieve absolutely nothing  craft-wise!!

I'm posting a card I made on Saturday but didn't manage to get posted due to one thing and another. I was inspired to make this card and another one after seeing a lovely card on Aud's blog on Saturday.

 I used :-
Poinsettia :- Nestie die.
DP :- GCD Studios.
Sentiment and card candi :- Craftwork Cards.
Ribbon, gold seed beads in centre of poinsettia (although they look red here!)

I'm entering the following challenges :-
Colour Create :- Burgundy, gold, green and cream with the added option of dimension.

I'm off to try to catch up with some blogging now, I haven't had time to see what everyone is up to since Saturday.

Thanks for looking.

Penny Black 172 - Age Is Just a Number!

Hi to anyone who happens to read this. I'll keep it brief cos not many people read my blog!

When I saw this challenge at Penny Black I couldn't resist joining in. I thought this fun image would be perfect for a birthday card for my great nephew. I'm well ahead here because he's not 17 till next July!

I used :-
Image :- Penny Black.
DP :- MME Everyday Flair.
Sentiment :- stamped - Hero Arts, oval - Craftwork cards.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Boys will be boys charm from stash.
Numbers cut with Cricut.
Nesties.

I'm also entering the following challenges :-
One Stitch at a Time :- Anything Goes.
Papertake Weekly :- Use 3 different shapes. I've got a circle, triangle and oval.

I'm off now to see about my DT card for Totally Gorjuss. I had hoped to get more done today but my colleague had to unexpectedly take her Mum into hospital this afternoon and I had to go into work till closing time. She phoned  me a wee while ago and I'm relieved to hear that while her Mum needs a blood transfusion  she's actually feeling ok! Since her Mum is not a well lady this may need to happen again but at least she knows now and won't get such a fright if they phone from the surgery.

Nothing's ever simple is it?

If anyone feels like leaving me a comment I'd be really grateful. I sometimes wonder if anyone visits my blog as I don't get much feedback. Maybe my cards are really bad and no-one wants to hurt my feelings! On the other hand I've actually lost 3 followers recently, do you think it was something I said lol!

I'll be back tomorrow with some candy for my followers.

Totally Gorjuss 87 -Sketch.

Good morning everyone, hope you're all looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend. It's the first Saturday in July so it's time for a sketch challenge at Totally Gorjuss. As usual on the first Saturday we are sponsored by the lovely and ever generous Joanna Sheen. I love Joanna's online store, there's so much to choose from and no p&p.

Here's my take on Net's great sketch.

I used :-
Image :- Penny Black.
Sentiment and card candy :- Craftwork Cards.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Martha Stewart snowflake punch, Cuttlebug embossing folders, Glamour Dust & pearls.

Quite a simple card but I hope you like it. I've been really short of time this week for crafting! I've managed to keep up with my DT work and I've done some other cards but that's it. I'm afraid I've been neglecting my favourite blogs. After 2 weeks of full time work my house is a tip. Especially with two big black Labradors. They might look nice and smooth but believe me they can cast. As well as chew things they shouldn't lol! At lunchtime yesterday I opened the back door and found Blue coming out of the garage. I thought that was a bit funny as I left the 2 of them shut up in their cage. The garage is where their food and biscuits etc are kept. And to save time I'd left the biscuits they get when I go back to work on top of the chest freezer. They hadn't touched the biscuits or my boots or socks or leads and collars or anything else and believe me there is loads of stuff they could have chewed. But.........they'd almost destroyed hubby's slippers lol! Out of sight of them I had to laugh, I couldn't help it!!!

Not sure if this card fits any challenges but I'll have a look later when I have time.

I found some challenges that I think this card fits:-
ABC Christmas :- M is for monochrome.
Stampin for the Weekend :- Favourite Things - PB snowman, embossing folders, MS snowflake punch, Glamour Dust, pearls and card candy.
Allsorts :- Free and easy.
Sir Stampalot :- Anything Goes.

Thanks for looking and I'll catch up with you all later................I hope!

House Mouse 97 Adorn with Jewels.

Don't you just love this image? These little mice are so sweet, aren't they. I love House Mouse images!  They are some of my favourites along with Penny Blacks and Hero Arts. So I just had to join in with the challenge at House Mouse which is "adorn with jewels" - add lots of bling.

I used :-
Image :- House Mouse.
Sentiment :- Craftwork Cards.
DP :- Tilda.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Pearls :- Hobby House.
Lace & ribbon :- Ribbon Girl.
Flower :- Wild Orchid.
Sakura glitter gel pen, Glamour Dust and nesties.

I'm also entering the following challenges :-
ABC :- W is for Wedding.
Pollycraft :- Ribbon and flowers.
Passion for Promarkers :- Here comes the bride.

Hope you like! I think this is quite a sweet image for a wedding card. It's also good for an engagement card or a Valentine so quite a versatile image.

Now I need to think up something for a Get Well card. My friend's husband is going in to hospital for an operation tomorrow. I think it's more difficult to make a Get Well card for a man, or is it just me? I'll really need to check out my stamps lol! I've got some really cute LOTV stamps but I'm not sure if one of them would be ok or not.

Hope I can get time to do some more cardmaking after tea. I still have ironing to do so I might do that first and get it out of the way.

Catch up with you all later I hope.

James at Christmas.

Hi everyone, just a quick post with a little card I made when my friend was over today. It's pretty simple but it's another one to add to my very small pile of Christmas cards.

I used :-
Image :- LOTV cute square.
Card candy and sentiment :- Craftwork Cards.
Snowflake :- Martha Stewart.
Cuttlebug embossing folders,Nesties and Glamour Dust.

I had a shot of my friend's snowflake embossing folder as I don't have this one. I really like it so I may have to buy it some time!

I think this card might fit a couple of challenges :-
Creative Inspirations Sunday challenge :- Glitz and bling.
A Spoon Full of Sugar :- Anything goes.
Truly Scrumptious :-Anything goes.
One Stitch at a Time :- Anything Goes.

Think that's it for now. Don't forget to check out my candy if you haven't already.

Thanks for looking

It's a Girl.

Hi everyone, I was going to do this a lot earlier today but I couldn't get a decent photo. Not that good yet but better than my earlier attempts!

I've already made a shaped card as my DT card for Totally Gorjuss but I couldn't resist doing another one for Penny Black at Allsorts where they don't want to see square or rectangular cards. They're also having a DT call. I'd like to put my name forward for that! I don't think I've got any chance of making the DT but it won't hurt to try. I love my Penny Blacks and have lots I've not even used yet!! I was looking for something this afternoon and I found a carrier with a couple of Penny Black stamps and a Hero Arts cling stamp. No idea how long they've been mislaid. Oh dear!!

So here's my card. It's just a little titchy one as I made it with circle nesties.

I used :-
Image & sentiment :- Penny Black.
DP :- Craft Creations.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Sakura glitter gel pen, pearls, Nesties.

I'm hoping to enter the following challenges :-
Craft Your Days Away :- White plus one other colour.
Simon Says Stamp :- Look what the stork brought.
Stamp Something :- Anything goes.
Easy Craft Projects :- Pretty pastel colours.

Well I think I should go now as it's rather late now. Catch up with you all later and thanks for looking.

Less is More #4

Hi everyone, I'll need to be really quick here as I'm on my lunch hour!

I'm a bit of a last minute Aggie with this card but I really wanted to enter the Less is More challenge. I'm really enjoying these challenges, they're fun to do but you have to do a bit of thinking and planning too.

Not sure this is what I set out to do but here it is anyway. The sentiment looks a bit weird but no matter what I did it didn't look straight!

I used :-
Image :- Hobby Arts.
Sentiment :- Hero Arts.
Colouring :- Promarkers, Sakura clear glitter gel pen.
Nesties and Cuttlebug embossing folder.

I think I should round up the dogs now and get back to work. Catch up with you all later.

Little Miss Spotty!!

Hi everyone, are you all looking forward to the weekend? I am, even if I have to work on Saturday morning first before I get some time to myself!

The Little Miss Spotty in question is Poppy, she has Chickenpox!! It's been on the go and Catriona's just been waiting for Poppy's turn. Now she just has to wait for Oliver to get it. Luckily Catriona's had it too when she was 9. Poor Poppy really misses nursery but she'll soon be able to go back. This morning I decided to make a quick card for her and send it to her with some chocolate buttons. Probably should have sent buttons to Oliver too but he'll get his when he gets Chickenpox!

I used :-
Image :- LOTV coloured with Promarkers.
DP :- Love Letters from First Edition Paper. New & gorgeous isn't it?
Pearls :- Prima e.line.
Nesties, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder.
Sentiment :- Craftwork Cards.
Sakura clear gel pen on shoes.
Seam binding :- Ribbon Girl.

I'm quite pleased with it for a quick card. Sometimes it's better not to have to much time to think lol!

I don't think it fits any challenges but if it does I'll come back and edit this post.

Thanks for looking and I'll be back tomorrow with my DT card for Totally Gorjuss. Which reminds me I saw that there were some new Gorjuss Girl stamps over at Funky Kits. I might have to pop over for a look, it's been a long time since we had any new Gorjuss Girls.

Off to catch up with my DT work now before it's time for the next challenge!

Less is More!

Hi everyone, I've been trying to write this post all morning. These pesky pups just won't lie down and behave today. If I leave them through where they sleep they lie down quite peacefully but I feel mean leaving them there when I'm at home. But if I bring them through beside me they just have a carry on! After I have my lunch they're going for a nice walk whether they want to or not.!! By the way my candy is open till Saturday. You can find the details here.

I found a new challenge called Less is More and I thought I'd enter my card there. The challenge colours are black, white and pink.

I used :-
Image & sentiment :- Hero Arts.
Card candy :- Craftwork Cards.
Colouring :- Promarkers.
Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder, nesties, ribbon.

Really simple and quick. I think I like simple and  I'm going to do more CAS I think.

Last night was my WRI night. My cardmaking buddy, Susan, went with me. She's never been to anything like that before and really enjoyed it. We're a small group and everyone is really nice. Last night we had a hand on with beads. The demonstrator, Linda, let us have free reign with her beads. Most of us made either a necklace or a bracelet and we were all pretty pleased with ourselves. Only 3 people didn't make anything. One of our members NEVER tries anything! She's a bit of a stick in the mud. One lady has quite bad eyesight and the other is 80 and her eyesight isn't so good either. Not so long ago both of these ladies would have had a shot. But they enjoyed seeing what the rest of us made.

Susan said "I'm not getting into this" but she is quite tempted and I can see us looking at the beads etc when we go to the craft show at the SECC next month!

I'll take a pic of my necklace later and let you see it.

Off to have my lunch now and take my mutts for a walk. Thanks for looking and hope you have a minute to tell me what you think.

Quixotic #33 Make it miniature.

Hi everyone I made this tiny little card last night for the Quixotic Paperie challenge. It sure is small, only 3 inches square! When I saw the challenge I wondered how I could make something small enough! Then I remembered that I'd bought a couple of Paper Makeup stamps from Quixotic Paperie a wee while ago. I think this lovely sentiment is just perfect for a baby gift card.

I used :-
Sentiment :- Paper Makeup.
DP :- Craft Creations.
Distress Ink in Spun Sugar for the edges.
Nesties, jewels, flower.
I'm quite pleased with this little gift card, I think it's quite cute and quick and easy to make.
I'm writing this on Sunday evening and scheduling it for Monday morning so I'd best do my ironing now. Lucky me I'm working full time for the next two weeks. Yuk. I wouldn't mind if I could do something useful when I'm standing in the post office with nothing to do! On Mondays I usually read the Sunday paper as well as the Monday papers lol!
Hope your week goes well whatever you're doing.
