Wet Thursday!

This was a quick card I made a couple of days ago to show my friend who wants to make some cards for a sale of work. The idea is originally Clare's (Littlebear), thanks Clare. She made a lovely card the other day by inking her stamps and stamping on her card. She also scored round each side with her score-bug and added cut out leaves. If you look at Clare's blog you will see that her card is much nicer than mine. I used my Ultimate (Crafter's Companion) to emboss lines top and bottom and inked my image and sentiment stamps with brush markers. I'm not usually so minimalist but I know that people will not pay a reasonable amount for a nice card at a sale of work. But they will pay more for rubbish from a shop. Need to watch I don't fall of my soapbox lol!! I was in a shop recently with a friend who was looking for a child's birthday card and I couldn't believe how much it was for the simplest card. Guess I haven't looked at cards in shops for a long time. The next card is what I have been making today on a miserable wet day. I don't think the rain has ever stopped. I'm not sure my dogs have dried out since their walk and it will soon be time to go out again. I used the lovely sketch from Sketch Saturday and rotated it to fit the image better. I masked this lovely Tilda in Cherry Dress so that she could sit on a bench. I haven't done much masking so I was quite pleased with how she turned out! I watercoloured her. I've rounded all the edges except the base card. The flowers have been cut out using my new EK Success flower punches and popped on with sticky pads for a bit of dimension. I glittered them plus the cherries on Tilda's dress and the ornaments in her hair with a Sakura glitter gel pen. Pity you can't see the glitter but it is not a bright enough day for good photos. I sewed round all the edges with my mini sewing machine. I am getting used to doing this now - not good at it just used to doing it!! I inked all the edges with Antique Linen Distress Ink. Ribbon, brads and sparkly jewels are from my stash.

Challenges I am entering:-
Sketch Saturday:- The great sketch.
Just Magnolia:- Image and ribbons and bows.
La La Land challenge:- Bling.
A Spoon Full of Sugar:- Distressing.

Hope you like, think I will think about my next challenge now before I make tea and walk the dogs. I think it will be a very short walk as it is still raining. My old dog won't complain and I don't think the other one will either! I'm off out tonight to make cards with friends. Yesterday afternoon I was making cards with some other friends. Hard work but someone's got to do it.

See you soon,

Kat xx

More challenges.

I made this yesterday evening but with my track record with evening photos I did not even try to take a photo. Unfortunately this morning was a bit dull. I got a photo which was ok-ish then before tea I tried again and got this one. I spent the afternoon at a friend's house with 3 others making cards to sell at our church to raise fund for Ekwendeni hospital in Malawi. With several other churches in the Buchan (north-east Aberdeenshire) area we used to have a missionary partner. We still try to raise funds and send things out to them because it is an area of terrible poverty. Not sure if anyone will want to buy my cards or not. I think I will have to keep them very simple cos people will not pay for them otherwise. We were just saying that this afternoon. People will go into a shop and pay £s for a card but don't expect them to pay much for a special handmade one!!

Enough of me waffling. This card should fit these challenges:-
Allsorts:- sketch and torn.
Basic Grey:- Basic Grey papers and colours brown, yellow and pink.
La La Land:- Stitching - in this case faux.
Pile it on:- 3s. In this card- 3 brads, 3 buttons and 3 jewels.
Whismsy:- sparkle -the flower has been glittered with a Sakura glitter gel pen and there are some jewels including one in her hair!

The image is a Gorjuss Girl from Sugar Nellies and she has been coloured with Promarkers. The rectangles have been cut out with nesties. Flower, buttons, brads, jewels and ric rac from my stash.

I think this card turned out better than I expected. This does not mean I think it is good! Just that it is not as bad as it might have been lol.

In the mail today I got a gift voucher! On Monday I won a £10 gift voucher from Joanna Sheen in the first Crafty Cardmakers challenge. So thank you very much to Crafty Cardmakers and Joanna Sheen for this generous prize. I just expected to get an email with a code to use. But no I got a handmade card in a matching lined envelope with instructions inside how to use it and the code to use at the checkout. I'm impressed. I love Joanna's web shop. Prices and service are second to none and there is no p&p. There is a really good deal on Promarkers - that's where I got mine!

Another website I can thoroughly recommend is Craft Obsessions I ordered some gorgeous new Christmas goodies from Bo Bunny from them on Sunday evening and they arrived on Tuesday. How good is that? I was well impressed.

I'm off now to post my entries and see what I'll do tomorrow on my day off. Really looking forward to going to our new local craft shop on Saturday. My friend and I are going when I finish work at 12.30. Can't wait to see what lovely new goodies they have lol.

Thanks for looking and leaving lovely comments on my little efforts.
