My crazy busy Aussie Winter!

Dearest Blog friends I am sorry it's been a while. A one-legged soccer player and a three-legged crazy poodle have been taking up much of my time Down Under. The dog is off his anti-inflammatories and daughter number two is out of her moon boot and the crutches have gone. Roll on the end of the football season and getting everyone as fit and healthy as normal I say! August is a great month in Melbourne, the worst of the winter is behind us, the days are getting longer and the strength is building in the sunshine. Good news for Melbournians, bad news for the farmers of New South Wales and Queensland, who desperately need some rain to break our terrible drought. On a cheerier note, all around me, the yellow wattle trees are bursting forth. It's the Australian version of ' a host of golden daffodils fluttering and dancing in the breeze'.  Isn't it gorgeous? My slower pace of life in Australia gives me time for strength and renewal after ...

Beautiful Bangkok

Yoga on the Helipad! We've just had an amazing weekend with dear friends in Thailand. We stayed at The Peninsula, Bangkok Which is a bit of a splurge, but they look after Little old Wren rather well  and we end up in the most amazing Grand Deluxe Suite Thank you Peninsula, Bangkok. The Peninsula, Bangkok It really is an extraordinary place to stay and when I saw that they offered complimentary yoga on helipad Well I'm there with a big fat Namaste! We meet at the Fitness Centre,  whooping 36 floors below a mixed ability group  of those who look like they know what they are doing,  to destination yogics! Destination on top of the world!   We sign a massive disclaimer. This probably says - does anyone actually read these forms - that if we pop our clogs on the helipad it's not their fault. Oh, but what a way to go. Either that, or don't expect a complimentary air ambulance  to rush you to the nearest hosp...

Bali yoga searching for inner peace!

I am a Yoga teachers worst nightmare... Whilst I've booked the BALI holiday with a yoga retreat, others have booked a YOGA retreat in Bali. I'm drawn to yoga  because I have a dodgy knee, and can no longer run, Others are drawn to yoga  after life has thrown them some very curved balls. Whilst I'm a  'Come on Inner Peace, I don't have all day'  sort of yogic...  others have bounced straight here from a week long  pranayama and meditation journey to personal self discovery in Queensland. And little old Wren? Well, she has just wandered in, for the holiday! At the end of the day none of this mattered. Our yoga teachers were skilled in making the week the best for each of us  I had a great time and a few giggles along the way... One of our yoga studios at Ananada Cottages, Ubud Whilst others turn up with professional yoga mats and all the gismos. I arrive with an old aerobic mat chosen specially ...

Zen Yoga Mum in Blissful Bali

I'm in Bali, Indonesia on a yoga retreat. I know no-one, apart from my room mate,  and have barely met the yoga teacher. It seemed like a good idea back in October when I managed to convince my family this would be a really lovely Christmas & birthday present... There I was sitting cross legged in a new yoga class,  the words Namaste  barely having left everyone's lips... When the teacher says  ' if I anyone would like to join us, we are organising  a  Yoga Retreat in Ubud, Bali. Flyers are here, up the front'   The words 'like a rat up a drainpipe' spring to mind ...  The form was completed the very next day, leaving the teacher to comment "you are obviously a women of action and in need of a yoga retreat' Spot on! Zen Yoga Mum is a work in progress. Our pad in Ubud That was before both daughters left home for opposing continents, or before DH came home everyday with the option of moving to a different c...

Beware of the Scorpio Full Moon Eclipse

On Monday, our Yoga teacher declared that the Scorpio Full Moon on Thursday would be dominant in a turbulent week ahead. To prepare for this I worked extra hard in class, but still failed to master anything more than a downward dog...I exaggerate, I was probably more like a floppy puppy... Nevertheless, it was reassuring to learn, that those of us who'd taken time out of our busy week to practise our yoga techniques, would be better wired to cope with the intense period of instability that was coming our way. I'm liking this class already... ....Perhaps the diagram below is not quite reflective of where I would like to be with my yoga...I would prefer my Earth to be closer to my Live...but you get the general idea...and it's hang on tight for the week ahead... However despite all the potential for doom and disaster, it's been a good week, at least on the sporting front! Emlin won a beer mug (all the champagne glasses had gone) when her mixed doubles tea...
