Christmas 'JOY'

We are celebrating Christmas Mixed Media Style
for our December Challenge at

I always enjoy making my Christmas Mixed Media Project
as part of my Christmas decorations.
This was made a few weeks ago as it needed to be
uploaded before I went on a short holiday.
I managed to take a few photos so here goes -
Started with a 5inch/5inch piece of canvas gesso-ed and
attached to cardboard for stability.
CUTploraions Die cut deer has texture paste
and trees with sand grit paste to resemble snow.
Background is a mix of mainly Lindy's Magical colours with the
ARTplorations tree stencil using Metallic White Texture Paste.
adding the ARTplorations deer stencil image to background.
Adhered cheescloth then
inked up the deer and trees with Lindy's Magical's and
in the process I knocked over the Black Orchid Silver,
luckily the lid was on slightly but I now have some
very colourful cloth wipes to use at a later date.
(the backing for the main photo is one of them)

The before photos before I cropped it.

Added translucent crackle paste to the deer
and added colour with Tim's Vintage Photo
attached a die cut before adding the deer and trees.
Now time to die cut Tim's Poinsettia layers and
joy die.
using red metallic and white card stock, white c/s with
sand grit paste inked with
Lindy's Black Orchid Silver. Added a secomd red one
with Lumberjack Plaid Glaze

Glued the leaves and added Cherry Red Cosmic Shimmer
to the centre of the poinsettia.
More sand grit paste added to the back of the trees
for more snow and around the edges.
Punched some stars in grey,
Ruby Red Liquid Pearls to the white frame,
Pearl to the deer and
die cut Tim's Joy in metallic red paper
and adhered to finish.

A few more.

We have the Very Talented Erika
joining us for our Christmas MM project
sharing her creativity with us
and the Design Team have also been busy
sharing theirs with us all.
Now it is your turn to showcase your
Christmas Mixed Media Project and add to our Gallery.

Each year the Design Team take January off giving us
time to wind down after the Christmas Season
and get our creative juices working again for another year.
It has been my pleasure to share my Mixed Media makes
with my fellow designers and you.
Thank You for all your kind comments throughout the year.
Till next time I wish you

A Merry Christmas and a
Safe Happy Healthy New Year.

Cut it Up Fun Fold...

for end of the month is to make a
FUN FOLD Creation.

Mine isn't a fancy fold type but was fun to make -
and not at all what I had planned.
The fold part was but it all changed when I went looking
for some DP to use as a background but
it went as my feature point instead.

The DP  I used with the front feature folded.

Using the DP with the cuts from left to right.

Started with the arch dies with SU Mossy Meadow
and the backing
then Hello Honey and the DP
I added die cuts to blend in.
The word die cuts were a bonus as part of the
Kaisercraft Paradiso and cut out by hand.
Attached to the back to complete.
The Design Team have been very creative
with their choice of fun folds so head over
and check them all out and join in with
your fun fold make to our Gallery.

'JOY '

It's our Last Challenge of the Year at  Just Us Girls
as we take a break (and be back in the New Year)
after we refuel and spend time with Family and Friends
Sue is Host for our Stencil Challenge

I just had to get out my favourite Deer Stencil
from ARTplorations filling him and background up with
a good helping of texture paste mixed quickly with
Lindy's Jolly Roger Red before it dried up from the heat.
I did ink around him before that then added
 darker tones and more Lindy's.
Added tiny splatters for interest.
The 'joy' die is Tim's and die cut several times for depth
and I didn't lose the tiny dots.
Added a pearl for his eye.
Corner rounded one end and
attached to white card base.
Check out what our Guest Leslie created
for her last showing and the Team have also been
busy with a variety of stencil pieces to inspire you.
Hope you have been able to spend a bit of time
with your stencils and share with us in our Gallery.

Thank you so much for all your comments
 and support over the year.
I look forward to creating for you again in the New Year.

A Merry Christmas to my Team Mates and to you all.

In the 'Mood' for Christmas.

We are in the 'Mood' this week at Just Us Girls
to offer a delightful array of all things Christmas
with our host Carol Mc
reminding us that it is just around the corner!

and a closer look!

My inspiration came from the lovely gold tones above - hence
I have used gold, bronze and red metallic card stock.
Die cut my star several times and backed it with the
old Spellbinders Twenty Seven die in copper.
Adhered the backing also in copper and cut the
gold metallic paper into three,
embossing the middle piece from a folder
that came with a magazine years ago.
Randomly placed pearls and one to the centre of my star.
Now head over and check out our Guest Leslie's
cute card and what caught the Team's eye.
We look forward to seeing yours in our Gallery.

Because I Care!

We are sharing our favourite colour at
Cut It Up Challenge for our New Theme.
Purple never really shows up well in photographs
which is a shame as this card looks stunning IRL.

Unfortunately this card was made for a
long time craft friend who recently lost her Mum.
I used metallic card stock, inking my die cut flowers
in a few shades of purple. Die cut,
adding purple c/s behind the flowers
and again the metallic card stock as base.
The sentiment is so appropriate.
Head over to our Blog and check out what colour the
Design Team showcased for your pleasure
then be inspired and add yours to this challenge.

A 'Winter' Snowfall...

It's a 'Winter' Theme for Word Week at Just Us Girls
chosen by our Host Carol M.

I went full tilt with my card showing off
a very Wintery Scene.
Off course you would know the background is
created with Lindy's 'Magical's -
Black Orchid Silver and Screamin Banshee Black
to name a few.
Die cut my trees with grey c/s and one with kraft
then splattered them with textured sand paste for the snow.
Flicked lots of white ink for more 'white stuff'.
Sentiments cut from kraft stock with added 'snow'.
Added a few stars and didn't realize until I
photographed it that with all the snow falling on the trees
there had to be snow on the ground - so added that
after I adhered it to gray card base -
but you wouldn't have know that if I didn't mention it eh!
Lucky I didn't mess it up.
Our Guest Leslie and the Team have created a
'Winter Wonderland' of inspiration over on Our Blog
so head over and check them out and
come play and add yours too.

Mixed Media Art!

It's time for our New Anything Goes Challenge at

What I thought was going to be a simple little canvas
turned out not what I was planning and
taking longer than I expected.
How often does that happen?

We have Jenn Borjeson and Chrissy
as our Guests ths month.
Welcome Jenn and Chrissy!

My 4"by4" canvas started with gesso then coloured
with a mix of Lindy's Magical's (of course) and Tim's Ox Inks.
Stencil work is a favourite form AALL&Create Mock Croc.
Stampng around edges with VersaFine Pinecone.

then went to work on the jar which was already
made and sitting on my desk and die cut the frame.
adding more colour and dimension
to the jar and die cut bark with crystal glaze.

attached some dry wall tape behind the frame
(wasn't sure which frame as they were differect colours)
I added a tiny leaf to the bottom right side of vase
but needed something extra with art stones
coloured with wax and glaze.
Die cut a circle, inked, stamped the
That's Crafty ART word and popped to the side
to complete my little MM canvas.

Head over and check out what our
Talented Designers created using
multi medium products on their projects.
Come join in the fun with yours in our Gallery.
