CASology #191 WASHI

Happy Tuesday! We have a fun one for you at CASology this week! WASHI! We all probably have more WASHI than we will ever use or even care to admit to having. I have tons of it but have been using it more often in my everyday note taking, list making, and bullet journaling.

For my card I created a striped butterfly out of washi. As pictured below, I created the striped pattern by alternating gold and silver washi tape on a scrap piece of card stock and then die cut the butterfly out of it. I also used washi tape for the PTI Swoosh sentiment as well. Before adhering the butterfly and sentiment, I scored part of the card base on a diagonal to line up with the washi tape lines in the butterfly. Scoring adds interest while preserving white space. Check out Laurie's PTI Make It Monday video this week for great ideas on using score lines for additional detail and texture! She always uses score lines on her CAS projects in such interesting ways.

Check out the rest of the DT interpretations of WASHI for more ideas on how to use up your washi stash. Can't wait to see what you come up with! Have a good week!

PTI March 2016 Blog Hop

Its the 25th which means it time for the PTI Blog Hop! We had some fabulous images to draw from this month. I was drawn to this one for the color and design.

For my card I used Soft Stone as my card base. I heat embossed flowers from Stitches and Swirls and added color using my newly acquired Sold Stitches & Swirls. Sentiment is from Reason to Smile which has a hint of stitching in it. I stamped the SMILE in white ink first and then stamped it slightly offset in Enchanted Evening.

Off to check out what everyone created! Thanks for popping in!

Two on Thursday

Hello -

Things have been so crazy lately I've had very little time in my craft room. But I did get to play around yesterday afternoon to make two cards for two challenges I don't get to participate in very often.

First card is for the Fusion Card Challenge this week. I was inspired by the primary colors in the photo to make a card for the upcoming teacher appreciate week in May.

I used the pencil stamps from PTI Teach & Inspire to create the diagonal design on the card. Sentiment from Thanks All Ways. Think this will be perfect for my daughter's male teacher.

Second card is inspired by the colorful rainbow at the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge this week.

I heat embossed the Winnie and Walter 'Do You See What I See' stamp in white and blended a rainbow of TH Distress Inks onto the panel. I matted the panel on black cardstock to make it pop before putting on white cardbase. Added a nest of white thread underneath the sentiment from Altenew Label Love.

Easter weekend is kicking off here. No school or work tomorrow and my brother, sister in law and two kids are coming to visit from NC for a long weekend. For those of you who celebrate, Happy Easter and if you don't, have a wonderful weekend! Thanks for popping in!

CASology #190 WEATHER

March weather is completely unpredictable here in NJ. Sometimes its warm, yesterday we've had snow. Crazy! So this is a perfect time for the new CASology cue card WEATHER. So much room for interpretation with this one.

For my card, I die cut several white umbrellas (PTI Scattered Showers) and adhered them on an angle on the card base. Tone on tone die cuts adds interest while preserving "white space". I added an umbrella out of patterned paper and added my sentiment next to it.

Check out the rest of the DT interpretations of WEATHER and have fun with this one! Can't wait to see what you come up with!

CASology #189 DOODLE

Hello friends! Happy Tuesday! Such great cards for last week's LAUGH challenge. Now its time to flex your creative muscles with DOODLE. Some of you might use some doodle stamps. Or you might even want to try to actual doodling on your card (GASP!). That's what I did.

I kept my doodling simple. drew simple hand drawn swirls as flowers and the sun. I stamped color on top of the doodled swirls using PTI Bits and Buttons. The stamped circles don't line up exactly with the doodle swirls but that's intentional.

Be sure to check out how the rest of the DT interpreted DOODLE -

Spring Has Sprung!

Hi friends! Spring has finally come here in NJ and its all of a sudden hard to stay inside. Did get a chance to make two cards yesterday.

First card is for a new challenge blog called Inspired by All The Little Things. Such a pretty inspiration photo no? Just the kind of tea party I'd love to attend!

I was inspired by the golden edge on the tea cups and as well as the pretty decorated cookies.
I stamped PTI Circle Scribbles in Gold Delicata ink. I layered die cut butterflies - bottom in Sweet Blush pink and the top in PTI bitty dot vellum (so sturdy and thick!). Added a few pearls to the center to cover up the foam tape.

Second card is inspired by the bright colors at ColourQ this week. I decided to use the bright colors in small doses. I masked a circle and sponged in Heidi Swapp Mint in for a background. Stamped a flower from PTI Be in Melon Berry and Simply Chartreuse. Sentiment is from Thank You Kindly in Memento Danube Blue. I added some striped Melon Berry patterned paper on both sides for some added color.

Hope Spring has reached your neck of the woods! Thanks for popping in!

CASology # 188 LAUGH

Time for a new CASology challenge! This week we need your interpretations of LAUGH.

My card features a saying I often found myself muttering during the first year of my twin daughters lives. My older daughter was just 2 when they were born and as you can imagine things were crazy! So crazy that you couldn't help but just laugh. I'm sure you've been there! :)

I used PTI Drips and Dribbles to create a background on the lower half of the card. I adhered a onesie diecut (from PTI Bitty Baby Blessings in PTI Fine Linen dotted paper) on top of the background and added the sentiment from AMuse.

Take a look at the amusing and amazing takes on LAUGH from the design team....you are sure to be inspired!

ColourQ Take 3

Last card for this week's ColourQ challenge. Since these colors remind me of water, I used them for thank you cards for my daughter's swim coaches.

I used streamers from PTI Hooray set in the challenge colors to create festive background while still remaining masculine for her male coach. Sentiment from PTI Thanks All Ways.

That's it for me. Thanks for popping in!

ColourQ Take 2

I am loving the colors at ColourQ this week and was inspired to use them to make a couple of thank you cards for my daughter's swim coaches for the our end of year banquet next weekend.

I busted out one of the banners from a brand spankin' new PTI First Place set (NBUS!).  I alternated the challenge colors.

Will be posting my other one shortly. Thanks for stopping by!

OLS,ColourQ, & NBUS

March is here! That means there's a new One-Layer Simplicity challenge. This month's challenge is Let Green 'March' In which means we can only use shades of green and one neutral.

I fought the temptation to use black ink on my card and used only green inks on my card. I blended a few different green inks (PTI Limeade Ice, New Leaf, and Simply Chartreuse) using one of the new PTI Modern Background stencils (which in case you are wondering are a perfect size and very durable).  I added two flowers and sentiment from the new BE set. Sentiment stamped in PTI Pinefeather.

Also linking to Darnell's fabulous NBUS challenge since these are the new PTI goodies.

I am LOVING the colors at ColourQ this week. Totally right up my alley as you know! :)

I used one of the images from the PTI Enclosed Star set to stamp a pattern in Memento Teal Zeal & Blue Danube, Mama Elephant Smoke, and Avery Elle Aquamarine. Used my Misti to stamp the Wet Paint sentiment in black several times so it stood out against these bold colors.

Hope you are having a great week! Thanks for popping in.

CASology #187 : SPIN

It's Tuesday. Start of a brand new month and a new CASology challenge starts today. This week's challenge is SPIN. Such a fun word with SO MANY different possibilities.

I kept my card CAS by keeping it one layer. I stamped a row of colorful pinwheels along the bottom of the card (stamp from AMuse) and added a matching enamel dot to the center of each. Sentiment is from Lil Inkers.

Be sure to check out the fabulous cards made by my fellow design team members. Such varied, pretty, and clever takes on SPIN. I am still pinching myself at being included on this team with these fabulous ladies.
