White Throated Sparrow

This White Throated Sparrow is a first for me. He never eats at the birdfeeder, but eats on the ground below the feeder.
I have been watching this bird all month, taken several photos.
But none had been as good to identify him by as these that I took yesterday.
I was sitting in my 'blind' wondering why I was sitting there when this bird came into my view. Then I knew why I was sitting there. Another bird for my lifer list.
The backyard at Rockwood has been very good for bird lifer list.

House Sparrow at the feeder

This feeder is at our home, not in Rockwood. It is for the cheap seeds. It is there for when I don't get the good stuff out to them. I rarely see birds at this feeder, because when I am home I give them the good stuff. Maybe I need to take this feeder to Rockwood so I can save a little on the seed that is going so fast.

House Sparrows at Veterans Park in Spring City

Some House Sparrows I caught through my lens in Veterans Park, October 9. Didn't know what they are, until Hap ID'd them for me. After my attempt with the non Rusty Blackbird (which by the way, was NOT a Rusty Blackbird, you can check it out here), I didn't even try, but Hap came to visit and ID'd them for me.
Just liked the fact they were going at it over this birdhouse cluster when there was plenty of room to share.

They were chasing each other so much they did not care about me photographing them.

The bottom photo is what they do with the birdhouses they don't want any other bird in.

Birds in work parking lot

I don't know what these birds are. They seem to be common in city parking lots, but I do not think I have ever seen them at one of my feeders. My work parking lot does not really have food in it, so it is just the city dwelling. There were about 10 to 15 in the lot.
This Mockingbird was taken the same evening. He is sitting on top of a truck, when he flew he almost flew inside a car with it's window all the way down.

Young birds in my yard

I am not sure what these are. The top photo may even be different than the others. The one on the vehicle then flew to the short wall, so I know these are the same bird(s). These were Saturday afternoon in my front yard. We still have babies everywhere. Seems odd, with the leaves beginning to change already.

Song Sparrow bird nest in the neighbor's garden

The neighbor was in his garden when he came across this nest with eggs in his tomato plants. Same type eggs that were in his shed. Never did get to see those babies, for lack of access, due to a trailer blocking the path.
Hate to say it, but she did not do a great job of building the nest, but she only had tomato plants as a base. It kept falling over. There were only 3 left last time we saw babies in it there.

Then the nest was empty but the birds were still having a fit so the babies are probably wondering around under all the thickness of his garden. He has already found one he must have stepped on. We don't know if the other 3 are still in good shape and are being fed while on the ground or not.

Bird Eggs

This nest and eggs were in the neighbors carport about a month ago. Never could get close while the babies were there, and never saw a bird sitting. Thought the eggs were pretty. Then Tuesday morning the neighbor said he wanted to show me something in his tomato plants. It was the nest and eggs below. Apparently the same type bird, still haven't seen the bird. Sorry about the quality of the photo, but I only had my 75mm-300mm lens with me at the time, and could not get far enough away to get the shot I wanted. I will return with my standard lens, even if I have to wander through his garden without him. Another one I do not know how to identify. The more we learn, the more questions we have.

Sparrow

Several photos of a sparrow.
He does not seem to be afraid of me. He even appears to be curious about me.
"What are you looking at???" he seems to be saying.
