Juvenile White Ibis at Lake Seminole Park

The White Ibis does not start out white, it takes a while to become white, through several molts.
I think this is probably a 2nd year White Ibis.
The reference books indicate they do not begin to get white feathers on their backs until December of the first year. These photographs were taken October 2008.
We will be at sea all day today.

White Ibis at Lake Seminole Park

This was the first time I had seen White Ibis. These were taken in June when we were in St Pete Beach, Florida.
We have started going over to Seminole Park in Seminole, Florida. We see a new bird everytime we go.
We hope that will happen again this trip.

The last is a collage of the White Ibis washing themselves in the edge of the water. You will need to click to enlarge to be able to tell much about it. There was a whole lot of these, so I decided the collage was the best way to use them.
