Odds and Ends

Even though so many of my flowers were destroyed by the hail storms of 4/27/2011 I do still have a few visiting butterflies. I also got a quick glance of the Clearwing Moth (so commonly called Hummingbird Moth, although there are 2 different Clearwing Moths)

The most unusual place I have ever seen a bird lay it's egg.
Guess it was because of the color on the right of way post.
No, I do not know what happened, because I forgot about it for a few days.
When I went back to check there was no sign of it.

Clearwing Moth

This Clearwing Moth is a Snowberry. I would love to see the Hummingbird Clearwing Moth,

because it has more color than the Snowberry.
The Snowberry was in my flowerbeds for 4 or 5 days.

The one below the wings can't be seen at all,

guess that is where it got it's name.

But against the sidewalk background the wings can be seen.

Clearwing Moth

Ok, it is a Clearwing Moth.

But is it a Hummingbird Clearwing or a Snowberry Clearwing?Naturally it liked the zinnia blooms that were beyond their peak.
This is the first time I have seen one in person, and I cannot tell which it is.
He did finally move to better looking bloom.
I am posting every one I took, in hopes somebody can tell me which one it is.

So which is it?

No matter what, I know for sure I have to stop whining about the lack of volume of butterflies this year. I am seeing some special butterflies and moths.
