Overlooking the valley early morning

As I went on up the highway going to Cumberland Mtn State Park I had to stop at some of the overlooks. It was still early enough the fog was just rising.
Back in the far distance you can Watts Bar Lake. The stack is the Watts Bar Nuclear Reactor. One is in operation, and they have begun the process of starting the other one up. That little spot to the right of the smoke rising is the 2nd reactor.
The last photograph was taken in Grandview, Tennessee. Grandview is about halfway up the plateau. It is very apparent how the area was named. I think the first 3 photographs were probably taken standing in Grandview, but I don't know the area well enough yet to know if I was or not. If not, it was just before I got to Grandview.

Foggy morning in Cades Cove

More photographs from the morning fog on October 14 when I went to Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Another old tree.
Here I go again, with another old tree, of sorts. The fog was still hanging on, and gave this photo an odd look, but I like it.

First view of Cades Cove - October 14, 2008

As I arrived at Cades Cove (in GSMNP) on Tuesday, October 14 this was the first views of the cove.
Notice the red showing in the 2nd photograph. Usually the trees in the forefront like to turn dark. The light caught just right to show the color in these leaves.
The 3rd photo is where the deer came out of the woods to the right as I was talking to the gentleman from Germany. I love the 3 trees in the 4th photograph. Me, and my old trees.

East Tennessee Heron in flight

These are a continuation of the previous post. This is when he decided he didn't want to continue to hurt the other one in front of me anymore. Most of the time when they decide to take off in a hurry I miss the change, specially if they actually come in my direction, because sometime I am too close then. This one flew just right for me to get him all the way across the lake.

I guess I should have cropped these, but was not thinking at the time. These were taken at one of the marina at Watts Bar Lake in Spring City, Tennessee.
