December 22, 2009

A bird-in-progress i started to make in the summer as a late birthday present for my sister which i then hoped to offer as a Christmas present.. very much inspired by (and very far from being as lovely as) Abigail Brown's exquisite birds.
Lucius is enjoying a lovely rocking chair Alessandra sent me, she also made the little lavender cushion Lucius is leaning on. Alessandra, you're a star, thank you very much!
I am hoping to cross the channel tomorrow, weather permitted, i wish you all a lovely and relaxing Christmas! x

i am joining the snow wagon
the snow wasn't as heavy as last February but it was still fun
i haven't been making any dolls this week, in fact the fabric has been put away last weekend and the sewing machine unplugged. Apart from catching up with the obvious Christmas duties, tidying up a much neglected house has been on the agenda.
and some hanging. a lovely blue cloth from Elisabeth that is perfect in the kitchen, and a poster i had my eyes on for a while by Cornelia O'Donovan in the boys' bedroom. have a look at her shop full of very charming things here
Enjoy your weekend x

it is a real pleasure to finally be able to show you the latest collaboration with Vancouver based illustrator, Julie Morstad.
Julie contacted me months ago via the blog after i wrote a post about her book, Milk Teeth. after the third email we had agreed on doing something together. the resulting drawing is a real treat. there is a lovely warmth and richness in the colours and patterns, and the details are amazing. I just love Julie's interpretation of Lewis and Lumi, i hope you will love the print as much as i do. thank you so much Julie!
check out Julie's shop and her other beautiful prints.

the print measures 21 x 29,7 cm  / 8,26 x 11,7 inches
printed on Hahnemuhle bamboo archival paper, 290gsm

the print is a limited edition and will be available in my shop
the shop will be updated later on today at about 4.30pm GMT

December 3, 2009

Lucius number 5 and 6 will be in the shop tomorrow, they may look a bit serious and suspicious but they're actually a good laugh. Lumi who appears in this print will join them too.
I didn't manage to make as many dolls as i would have liked to this week but i'll do my best to have some Lumi dolls ready by the end of next week.
And the new collaboration will be revealed in my next post!

thank you all for your birthday wishes in the post below, I've passed them on to mr Lucien xx

little Lucien turned two today, i think he had a very nice day.

November 27, 2009

Friday already. I am trying to have a few creatures ready for a little shop update next week. the new Lewis above will be part of it. his outfit is of the finest kind, it is made from silk, wool and cashmere.
my oldest one was off sick today and made me a paper chain necklace that i had to wear all day.
did you see how beautiful Little circus' temporary Christmas shop looks?
have a nice weekend x

I am very happy to be showing you the new collaboration with Elisabeth

the story i told Elisabeth was among those lines: Lewis has just returned from his travels abroad, the journey on board the ship was quite eventful. Lumi is expecting him at home. She later is simply delighted to be wearing the silky dress Lewis brought back as a gift from his expedition.
Elisabeth's interpretation of the little storyline is pure bliss, thank you Elisabeth for all your hard work!

the prints measure 21 x 29.7 cm / 8.26 x 11.7 inches and are available here

November 17, 2009

this bunch of Little Ozzies are also on their way to Little circus

i have enjoyed reading the new issue of papier-mache and its new deco supplement, so many nice features and contributions. thank you Beck for featuring a Lumi doll in the new issue!

November 11, 2009

Little circus will open a real shop soon, only temporarily, just for the festive season. these two above are lucky enough to be going there, i wish i could accompany them.

three posts condensed into one because i just haven't had any time to blog lately. all about great collaborations.
Little circus and Atelier Ringo's workshops for children, a collaboration that promises to be fun and inspirational. and it is translated in English.
Broadcast and the Focus group investigate witch cults of the radio age, read the reviews in English and French.
Come darkness is an art show curated by Maria Vettese at the shop Chelliswilson, in Portland, Maine. i feel very honoured to have a little piece included in the show. the opening reception is this Friday and all work will be available online.
and my own collaboration with Elisabeth will be available soon!

October 27, 2009

the shop was updated earlier. a few things had already gone before i could post any pictures here (thank you!). the stripey pink and white Lumi above is still available.
I am giving a rest to the pinky tones now to work on a little series of blue and yellow.
