If you aren't digging the crackle trend I am so sorry because OPI has released three new blue Shatters for us. I think they are all gorgeous. I actually gasped when I opened the box and saw them in person! Turquoise Shatter - This one was the one that made me gasp the loudest. This is a glowing, lit up shimmer shatter in a cool, turquoise color. It is a bit translucent so I showed it over white to show the true shade and over Petites - Daze which let the green and the intense shimmer show through.
Blue Shatter - This is a cobalt shimmer shatter. Shown over white and Sinful Colors - Cream Pink. This one looks a bit faded on the nail. I think I thicker coat would have been better.
Navy Shatter - This is like a navy jelly that is obviously blue and not black. I have it here over white and a mint: Nicole by OPI - My Lifesaver.
I love all of these shades but I would since I like the crackle trend. I can see how if you don't like it, you aren't going to be a fan of these polishes. As far as crackles go, they are fantastic. OPI really has the formula down. They do look best, and wear best, with a top coat.
These are out now. What do you think?! -Elaine :c)
I have been waiting to do this manicure for a looong time. I bought this Konad plate weeks ago but then had to secure OPI - Russian Navy matte which I finally did. And here is the final look:
I used China Glaze - 2030 to stamp with. I adore chrome stamped on matte. It' s like my favorite thing ever! I wish that the badge came out crisper. In person it doesn't look bad but this zoomed close-up shot doesn't flatter it.
I did it. I finally did it! I made an Essie - Starry Starry Night look alike. I frankened the franken of all frankens. I think I did a damn good job! Sorry to toot my own horn and all but I think it's pretty close.
The idea hit me when I purchased LA Colors - Silver Glitter. It is a clear base with silver glitter. To me it looked like it might be a match for the glitter in SSN. It was small and silver, and not holographic/prismatic, and not too small... it seemed like a match. Now for the blue part. That hit me when I got my hands on the new Wet n Wild Craze colors. I purchased Nocturnal, and it seemed to me to have a bit of a jelly consistency, despite being dark. I didn't think it would work out to well to mix them at first, to be honest, (plus I was concerned about using my Nocturnal since it was so small) so I just layered them. Here is the results:
On the first and middle fingers I used just one coat of Nocturnal and on the ring finger I used 2. I wanted to see how it compared because I was concerned that 2 coats would be too black. It actually looks okay, but nothing compares to how it looks when I mixed Silver Glitter and Nocturnal together:(make sure to click the picture for the enlarged size!)
Yeah.... I really, really have to pat myself on the back for this one. I do not have, nor have ever seen Starry Starry Night in person, but I think this looks pretty darn close. This is absolutely quelling my need for this elusive, beautiful polish. I've named it Evening Twinkler.
I started with an empty mini bottle, but soon realized this would need a larger bottle. After purchasing a replacement Nocturnal, I emptied a full size clear Wet n Wild and filled it with half Silver Glitter and half of Nocturnal. I must tell you too, that this was the best franken I have ever made formula-wise. It is soooo smooth and these two polishes mix together VERY easily and without balls. It took about 5 seconds. I have never seen polish mix so easily and apply so easily after being mixed. I strongly recommend everyone makes this!!! It is so cheap and easy. And if you want it a little bit darker (which I may) {nah. I like it just fine!!} you can a couple of drops of a black creme polish to darken it.
Wet N Wild - Nocturnal can be found in drugstores, and I found my LA Colors - Silver Glitter in a small independent beauty store, but I have also seen it on Cherry Culture.
I went for a stroll into Nordstrom Rack one day to look for nail polish. The reasoning being that if Lippmann Collection, as well as other higher end lacquers are sold at Nordstrom, maybe they will be at Nordstrom Rack on sale. Well, I was wrong, but I found a brand I had never seen before: Savina. Most of the polishes were reminiscent of colors I have already seen. Marine Life above looked to me like China Glaze - Custom Kicks, Ruby looks exactly like China Glaze - Ruby Pumps, and so on. There was also a bright purple neon called Dream that looked just like Sinful Colors - Dream On. AND the bottles are the same as China Glaze except for that wavy little thing going on on the handle. Regardless, I bought some.
Marine Life - A bright blue-green creme that surprisingly, dried matte! Who would have thunk? Not me. I mean, it looked bright but certainly not neon. I went ahead and slapped on a topcoat so you could see it shiny!
After Midnight - Dark blue shimmer. I bought this because I do not own any navy polishes!! I think I had this notion that I didn't like them on myself. I was wrong!! I love this.
Ruby - Bright Red glitter. Seriously, this looks an awful lot like China Glaze - Ruby Pumps. Not the worst thing ever!! Who doesn't like a red glitter?!
Black Pearl - Grayed purple-blue with a green-blue duochrome. This one, at least, did not remind me of any other color. Big fan of this one. Hence why I saved it for last! The girl who checked me out said she had it and loved it and gets compliments on it all the time. I can see why... it's stunning!
