Essie Canyon Coral

Pin It Do you know the feeling when you love a polish so much but you see yourself in a hard spot where you need to describe its color? Yeah, here I am. That akward moment. Essie Canyon Coral is a bright and cream color with red/pink undertones. Hard to describe it and even photograph but I loveee this color. I remember last month I sold my extra bottle. But just cause I had to do some clean up and make room in my stash. Do you do that too? When you buy a color that you like so much you get a back up bottle? I need to stop doing that LoL
But back to this beautiful summery color ... I had 2 effortless coats of that pretty. Love the bright but yet not in your face coral. I can wait for Spring/Summer. I amin Arizona right now and I feel like it's Spring here. Loving the weather :)

The photo below looks totally different from the photo above but that's how it looks too me. It keeps changing how red or pink/orange the color is. Love it! That's the type of coral I like,

Happy Friday! Have a wonderful weekend you all :)

China Glaze First Class Ticket + Essie Shine of The Times

Friday yayyyy!
I am so looking foward to this weekend. I had quite a busy week. I'm not complaining. It was actually very productive though and I feel happy about that. Sorry I don't have enought time to be blogging but I am always on my facebook page as soon as I can. Also check my LM email often and am busy answering you guys' emails. I had tons feedback from my last post about Jordana's new collection. I do like that glitter collection too: price, quality and variety. Answering again what everybody asks "Where can I find them?" You will be able to find Jordana polishes at Kmart and/or on their website (all of them).
For today I have a combo that I can't stop staring at. Flakies have been quite popular and lots of companies have been releasing them here and there. For the Holidays last year Essie came up with a fun collection including Essie Shine of the Times. When I saw press releases of it and a picture from the beauty event in Las Vegas last summer I knew I had to have that one. And here it is. It's a beautiful flake. Looks like Nubar 2010 but it's a bit chunkier and fuller. A bit thicker if that means more flakies, I am on board. If you have a nail polish collection you have to have at least one bottle of flakie. That gives a whole different look to any boring polish you might have.

 Essie Shine of the Times

A macro shot. That way you can see what I am talking about.

And this is China Glaze First Class Ticket. That is what I have under Essie. That is a pretty violet ink purple full of super fine shimmer. You kinda have to move your fingernails to be able to see that. Pretty cool!

Remember that you still can submit your Valentine Manicure Photo to the Nail Art Contest until this Sunday. You're not gonna miss out on that, are you? To see details on how to submit your entry please CLICK HERE.

Essie Cocktail Bling Collection - Winter 2011

Oh it took me awhile to get those pictures together cause I actually wore those colors for at least a week. I absolutely love all the colors in this collection Essie threw us for winter this year.
This is Essie Cocktail Bling Winter 2011 Collection made out of 6 beautiful cream colors all together: Cocktail Bling, Brooch The Subject, Bangle Jangle, School of Hard Rocks, Size Matters, Bobbing for Baubles.

I have here swatches of all the colors in that collection for you guys. For all of them I used 2 coats to achieve full coverage. Actually there are some of them that are so pigmented that you might just need one coat though. I had no problems as far as application. The formula on this collection is superb. Once I wore all of them I can tell the wear of those polishes is long last. I really really like them all and have nothing to say about this collection but good things. Now scrool down for swatch pictures.

COCKTAIL BLING - let's start with the polish the collection was named after. Cocktail Bling is a pale gray with blue undertones. I love baby blues and love grays so the combination of the two made me just happy to have that little bottle I will tell you that.

SIZE MATTERS -  it's a blazing hot ruby red. It's a very interesting color cause sometimes it also look a very deep burgundy red like shown on the picture. I don't know if you guys already know that but I love red and love red polishes. That one could be different. It's so creamy that you could almost just wear one coat of it but I went with two. I can't wait to be able to have a pedi so I can put that on. It's a 5 star kinda polish!

BOBBING FOR BAUBLES -  is a deep dark sapphire. It's something very very unique in my collection. That polish was actually the one I was lusting so bad. when I saw a press about that collection I didn't care less about the other colors. That one just popped to me and I said out loud "I want you". That color is just fantastic.
BANGLE JANGLE - Ops, have we seen this before? I know right. Bangle Jangle looks like Cocktail Bling a lot. Just slightly different. However this polish has more a lavender tone to it than blue per say. Still very very pretty.
SCHOOL OF HARD ROCKS - such a pretty muted green toned teal. One of my favorites from the collection. Don't know how to define that color but all I have to say is ... I heart that one a lot!
BROOCH THE SUBJECT -  last but not the least we have that nude among bold and pastel colors. I thought it was wonderful of Essie to throw that color in the collection. I like collections that have diversity and gives you options. I'm not top keen on nudes unless I need to get out of the door real quick then Í'll put it on just not to have my nails naked. But I really like this one cause is really pigmented and makes my job easy on application. Love all the colors in this collection. Essie really rocked on this one!!!

Which ones are your favorites?
Have you tried any of those colors? Shar eyour pictures on Lacquered Me facebook page HERE.
Hope you guys liked the swatches :) Have a wonderful day!

Wednesday Pink - Essie Fun in the Gondola + NOPI Wear Something Spar-Kylie

Sorry Í don't have time to write details on this except I'm too tired. Here is my  Wednesday Pink mani. And that his looks way better in real life than on these pictures. Now, I'm gonna go straight to bed cause tomorrow will be a loooong day. Love you all!!

I used Nicole by OPI  Wear Something Spar-Kylie for the ring finger and the sponging. Try to sponge gradient in a invert way but uhmm too messy. Whatever. I like it LOL Or better, if I don't I really don;t have time to redo the whole thing.

Base color was Essie Fun in the Gondola. Love that vintage pink. It's just adorable. And the you have it. See ya!!

Essie Mochacino

Super short post for a simple quick mani.
Here I have Essie Mochacino. Essie itself describe that color as bein a " perky gray with shimmer". Somewhat vague description for such a pretty polish. I'd described it being a light brown taupe with very subtle yet very noticeable fine silver shimmer. Very unique from everything I've got in my collection for sure. I just don't know about that color matching well with my type of skin but I do love this polish.

Essie Blanc + Sinful Colors Tokyo Pearl (dislike)

Where did the year go? DECEMBER!!!!! Is that right? Can't believe it. But you know what I am excited cause my favorite holiday season is here. All the sweet songs, the pine tree smell, the yummy food, the lights, luminarias, the decoration and the most important the remind to all of us that we need to show our love to one another and really feel what's the real meaning of Xmas. I love love love Christmas. what's your favorite holiday?
Ok, now let's go to the lacquer matter.
Trying another white polish. Today I tried Essie Blanc. Not my favorite of favorites. Just ok. It's not that creamy, somewhat watery and it got opaque on my 3rd coat. Then, I was like, " Yeah, I think I like it" but like I said here before I like the one coat/two coats polishes. If I need a 3rd coat then I decide it's not the polish for me. Just the way I am. Cause that would be paiting 30 fingers once you have to do 3 coats on each one of your fingernails right? What a hassle!

Then I tried over Essie applying Sinful Colors Tokyo Pearl , a frosty shimmer white pearl ... and oh boy, superrrr draggy. I hate it!!! Do not like frosty finishes at all specially if they drag in some level that not even a great top coat (Seche Vite) can fix it. It's like I have mentioned here before: Sinful Colors nail polish are a hit and miss. Some of them are really great but most of them (in my opnion) are trash.

What are your opnions on Sinful Colors? Do you have SC Pearl Harbor? Do you dislike too or is just me?

My Thanksgiving Mani

I was neglecting blogging but just cause i did not had the time to upload pictures to my computer and then here. It's late but it's finally here and I'm updating my blog. Hope you guys still enjoy seen my pictures even if they are belated to its date. Hope you all had a fun and safe Thanksgiving though :) I kept myself busy making yummy rolls and a sweet potato cassarole with marshmallows to mingle with family.
Anyways, watch what I had on my nails!

What I did was I started with my color base being NYC Fifth Avenue a shimmer orange cooper polish. Love the NYC nail polishes. Easy application and beautiful colors.

Then I started playing with some sponging using Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Bronze Ablaze. I knew I wanted to do something over it so I kinda did the sponging in a deliberate way.

Then yeah, I found what I was looking for, leaves and leaves. I absolutely love this mani. Hope you guys love it as much as I do.

Monday Mani PaA - Plaid ( w/ a little fail)

Here is my take on Plaid for this week. I tried to be as fast as I could and there I had it ... fail. But besides that I still like how that mani looks. Not from a close up though. I used plate M60 cause I knew I didn't feel like attempting a free hand for this. I used Sally Hansen Navy Baby for the stmaping. And oh, baby yeah that polish is great for stamping.

and if you wanna see a swatch for the base color here it is. That is Essie Lapiz of Luxury. A nice cream lavender blue that looks beautiful besides the pain in the neck that it is to apply. The formula is soooo thin that I needed 3 coats there for full coverage. Love love Essie polishes but there are a few of them that they lack consistency in their formulas. It's yet to come my swatches of the Cocktail Bling , Essie latest collection that has been released. I absolutely love them all. And must tell yoou most them could be a one coater. I'll give you more details when I post that here. But Lapiz of Luxury just reminded me of one of the polishes in that collection. Such a graceful color but Essie really knew how to cranck up on pigmentation. Stay tuned!

Halloween Series - Dripping Blood Mani

Wowww Friday goodness!!! Are you guys going to any Halloween party out there?
For my Halloween Series I have here a Dripping Blood Nail Art. I can not take credit for it. But I also do not know who to credit to cause I have seen this design all over the net. And here is my take. I think this is a super awesome mani for Halloween. Don't you? My husband hates blood and he always wants to see what I did on my nails. Guess his reaction on this one? lololo He paled out (does that expression exist?). He didn't like. But " yeah, it's cute". Ohhhh, evil laugh right now!
For this mani I used a dotting tool but you can use a tooth pick or any pointed object. A white polish and a vampy red polish. This is a video I found on youtube that shows how I did my nails. Except that you really need to be fast on doing the drips cause the polish will form blobs on the point of your dotting tool. Click HERE to see the video. It's really easy do do it!!

And if you are wondering what I used for my white here you have it. This is OPI Alpine Snow my second favorite white polish for painting my nails (I have favorites for stamping so that's why the difference). But anyways my favorite white polish for painting nails is Jordana White. But for this OPI I had a good experience too. I recommend.

Essie Fall 2011 Collection Swatches

I am so happy to have this collection. Too bad I didn't find the other 2 remaining that are Glamour Purse and Very Structured. You can see a picture of the whole collection HERE. For now I have 4 beautiful fall shades. If you wanna test your luck I'm giving away another set like that, one for each person. Head on over HERE to see details about the giveaway.

From the far left to right on the picture above you see: Lady Like, Power Clutch, Carry On and Case Study.
Keep scrolling down if you want to see the swatches of them. Just want to let you know that those polishes are very pigmented, I used my trivial 2 coats for full coverage, application with no issues, all these colors have cream finishes, and no top coat used for the pictures you see. Overall, really loved these polishes.

LADY LIKE - it's a dark rosed pink. I think the name suits this polishes really well. I'd say this would be the polishes to wear when you don't have much time for a full mani but still want some color on your nails. I love it.

POWER CLUTCH - it's a dark gray polish with a military green undertone to it. Super fall/wintery right? I really really like this color. I know since last fall/winter we started seing the military green and they are still coming but that tone is quite unique in my collection.

CARRY ON - a dark plum color. It's beautiful and also very classic. I might have dupe for it in my collection. I have seen this color before in some bottle. But still, it's very pretty. I had a hard time photographing that color though cause it looks more dark on than through the bottle.

CASE STUDY - very unique. Case Study is kinda hard to define its color. It's a nude but very pigmented beige with brown undertones that makes it to look a littlebold when it's on your nails. Very unique indeed. I liked that color but I don't know if it looks good on my skin.

Monday Mani PaA - Breast Cancer Awareness

This week I decided to get this mani for the challenge a little earlier last week so I could post early in the morning on my blog for you guys :)
The theme was in honor of the Breast Cancer Awareness month.
Those challenges always put me to think what I am gonna use and how I am gonna show my creative side. First thing came to my mind was the pink ribbon. And as I've told you guys before here. I am not good at free hand nail art. Don't even have those tiny brushes for it and all that.
I then went through my stamping plates to see if they had any ribbons there and I came across konad plate M63 that was a full design and I could kinda see ribbons getting untangled there.
I used Color Club Hot Like Lava from the collection Foiled. And oh boy is that something really top noche for stamping!!! Such a great polish to do your designs.

Forgot to take a picture of my thumb but just cause some of you asked me. When I do any nail art where I put some accent on my ring finger you bet I have the same one om my thumb. Always!

And if you are wondering what's my base color. Here you have the bottle. It's Essie Neo Whimsical. Super pretty cream baby pink but .... I have to tell you those are 3 coats of that baby. I usually love Essie's nail polishes. But for me they are either super good to apply or a disaster. I had a lot of trouble applying that polish. So thin, so streaky and dragging. I got frustrated and disappointed big time cause it's such a pretty pink. However, despite all of that I made it to work. And here is a picture of it by itself. Sorry for the dry cuticles.

Hope you guys like that mani as much as I do! I wore that for 4 straight days.
Thanks to those who submmited your Halloween themed manicure pictures for the contest. Submmisions are now CLOSED. But don't worry I might be having more fun coming up like .... a giveaway. Plus you guys will get to vote for the pictures submmited.
Happy Monday to you all!!

Pink Wednesday - Essie Tart Deco Swatch

Essie Tart Deco for you guys. For this spring/summer of 2011 I think the two colors that most got my eyes were corals and mint colors. This shade here is such a cute pink coral.
So this is my Pink Wednesday. I tried to konad stamp it. Not sure if I liked it though. But oh well.

Monday Mani PaA - Creative Layering

Finally got to upload these pictures.
But anyways, PaA had a theme for this Monday I didn't really enjoy but come on I like challenges. So here I tried my Creative Layering. I can't say it's creative but layer it is.
I started with my base color that I had during the whole weekend. The lovely Essie Absolutely Shore. Love this pastel mint color. This is the third time I wear it and I am kinda sad cause I've been looking for that one to buy me another one and also to my friend Angel and just can't find.

Then I did a coat of Sally Hansen Crackle White, too bad you can barely see on the picture. But In person it looked kinda fun. I did some green stripes then add some glitter.

Thanks everyone for stopping by!! I will try and see if I can be more creative for next week's challenge.
