Collage Creation

Hi everyone,

As you may have seen I started to experiment with a photo collage style canvas...I am just having a play around with some techniques and, although I am so far from mastering this style, I am enjoying playing around with it...

I began with a 1920's style photo that I printed up and after deciding where it would be placed (and drawing a guideline around it, I began to ink and spray, use stencils and paints etc to decorate it..

I did some Distress Stain splats with Peeled Paint and Evergreen Bough...I blotted the ink with tissue afterwards as I wanted the colours for this to be quite muted.

Then I decided to add some spritzing of Dylusion colours using Dirty Martini and Calypso Teal.

Dot fade stencil was used with Picket Fence DP and Black Soot DI

I then began to use some stamping to add some detail and texture...I used a two different stamps - a script and text and using Jet black Archival ink I dabbed the stamps across the canvas.

I then stamped with Picket Fence DP onto the photograph

I added strips of printed tissue and tissue tape alongside where the photo was placed

A chit chat sticker was used edged with Black Soot DI

I added the photo and then decided to add a large metal flower...I brushed the flower with Gesso and when dry I spritzed it with Dylusion inks before gluing an Art Deco style button into the center.

I added two pearl pins to the flower decoration

Hope you like it!

Happy Crafting

Thank you for the music

Hi everyone!

Welcome back to the latest challenge at Try it on Tuesday - We want creations that are about....

Music

A papermache house was covered with a very light brushing of Gesso. Then some music images from Melange tissue was applied. These sadly got a bit lost in all the inking that followed - but you can see it slightly here...

I applied some texture paste through a flourish stencil on the roof.

Then I brushed some Peeled Paint DS over the house before spritzing all over with a variety of sprays...Sometimes I just dried the spray with the heat gun, sometimes blotting with tissue. I used Dylusions Dirty Martini, Melted Chocolate and White Linen and also some Cosmic Shimmer in Patina.

Pewter Treasure Gold was brushed all over and then I added some Tim Holtz metal embellishments and a Making Memories metal word.

I then stamped a music stamp over the house using Black Archival ink.

Come over and share your musical creations with us at Try it on Tuesday - we would love to see them!

A very Happy Birthday!

Hi everyone!

Over at Try it on Tuesday we are creating items about -

Birthdays - but with a twist!

You have to use a mask or stencil

I made this birthday card by applying Gesso all over the card then applying some torn Melange tissue strips with Matte Multi-medium.

Then I applied some texture paste through a harlequin stencil in opposite corners of the card.

When dry I dabbed some ink over the card - I chose Peeled Paint and Peacock Feathers DI. Then I dabbed around the edges in Walnut Stain DI to soften the effect slightly.

The Dot Fade stencil was used with the Mowed Lawn DI.

Fern Green Archival ink was used with my favourite script stamp around the edge of the card.

I used some die cut letters and inked them with Peacock Feathers DI and stuck them onto ivory card.

Then a flourish stamp was stamped around the edge using Fern Green Archival ink.

I blended some Walnut Stain DI on this to give a shabby effect. I mounted this onto a piece of card that was covered with Peeled Paint DI and had a bit of Cosmic Shimmer Patina spritzed over it.

I blended some Peacock Feathers ink over two ivory roses and spritzed with water to blend the colour. These were attached to the card along with a leaf die cut that had been coloured with Peeled Paint DI

Why not hop over to see what the rest of the TioT team have made to celebrate birthdays! Come and share your birthday creations with us - we would love to see them!

Buttons and Buttons

Hello everyone!

Welcome to another challenge over at Our Creative Corner

This month Jenny (Buttons) is our Challenge Host and she is bringing us a wonderful challenge

Use the colours Blue, Brown and Purple/Plum -
She is not allowing the use of black - so for stamping please use the stated colours.
You are allowed to use digi stamps - but please remember to alter the colour of the lines.

Our Sponsor this month is Nicecrane Designs

We are so pleased to have Nicecrane Designs as one of our Sponsors this year - There are so many wonderful images to choose from at the store! Please come along on the 'Sponsor Spotlight' days to see what we have made with some of those gorgeous images.
One lucky winner this month will get a $20 voucher to spend at Nicecrane Designs!

I love Jenny's challenge! - Purple is one of my favourite colours, but for some reason the purple inks and paints are barely used and when I have tried to make purple creations they end up in the bin! I really like being pushed out of my comfort zone so was really pleased when Jenny announced her challenge to us!

I bought some paper mache hearts before Christmas and as usual they got put in the pile of items waiting to be made with no real idea of what to do.

I started by lightly brushing Gesso all over them, which highlighted the texture of the Paper mache. I covered the centre of the heart quite densely with Gesso and then began to dab some Fresco paints all over very lightly with a sponge, building up colour gradually. I used Pansy, Sky and Mocha Mousse paint.

I also used some Distress Inks to add some translucent colour - Faded Jeans and Gathered Twigs were dabbed lightly over the heart.

For the stamping I used one of my favourite Tim Holtz stamp quotes in Coffee Archival ink on tissue paper and then stuck it onto the heart with matte Multi-Medium.

I used die cut flowers and covered them with Milled Lavender DS, Brushed Corduroy DI and Faded Jeans DI. The edges of the flowers were inked with Walnut Stain DI

I had to use buttons for this project! I selected several buttons in shades of brown, purple and blue and stuck them on with Glossy accents glue.

A few twig die cuts were covered in Walnut Stain DI and attached to the heart along with the flowers.

I did quite a heavy spritzing of Perfect Pearls mist in Biscotti which gave the heart such a lovely iridescent look.

I hope you like this - why not come over to Our Creative Corner and see what the rest of my team have made for you this month. Have a go using these gorgeous colours and you could be our winner and be featured as our Top Talent. Remember there is also the Top 3 award too and also the prize donated by our Sponsor!.....come and join the fun!
