Revlon Naughty

Hi Girls,
Sorry for my absence lately. It’s been a rough summer…working as a bee.

Today I have more mainstream nail polish to show you.
Revlon Naughty is a purple shimmer with grey undertones. It is a well-known dupe for Chanel Paradoxal. If you don’t want to spend a lot of money for Chanel nail polish Naughty is a cheaper alternative. The quality of Revlon polish is great. It is opaque, but not thick. 2 coats are enough. It dries fast and quite long-lasting (3-4 days without chipping).

Designer Thusday: Prabal Gurung Inspired Manicure

I absolutely love purple theme and prints of Prabal Gurung Sprint 2012 collection. I was inspired by the color contrast as well as the textures.

For Prabal Gurung inspired Manicure I used:
- Revlon Matte Powder Puff;
- Illamasqua Baptiste.

Revlon Sorbet

Revlon Sorbet is a medium orange jelly. The fact that the texture is jelly makes it a little sheer and less neon. It’s a nice polish for summer. I especially like to use such bright colors on my toes J.

The formula is nice: it is not thick like many jelly polishes, but not runny as well. It dries extremely fast even without a top coat. I used 2 coats, but on some nails I still could see some sheer spots. The application is not streaky though.

Revlon Passionate Pink with Gold Studs

I spotted new Revlon ColorStay in the newly opened CVS near my work. Usually, all the pretty polishes in the local CVS near me are sold out by the time I get there. This time I was able to pick up some new lovely shades I haven’t seen in the other stores.

One of them was Passionate Pink – bright pink jelly. It is a very lovely summer shade that would look cool on the toes. The formula is totally different from the older Revlon polishes as well as the packaging and the brush. I like the new formula it dries fast, but not runny. The only thing I don’t like is the new brush – it is a little wide the size of my nails.

For the decoration I used golden stud rhinestones I got on eBay.

Revlon Facets of Fuchsia

I have had Facets of Fuchsia for a while now, but it completely got lost in my other glitters. I think it deserves some attention.

Facets of Fuchsia is a black jelly nail polish with purple glitter of different sizes. It is a dupe to Deborah Lippmann’s Bad Romance. Personally, I think it is slightly more beautiful because it have bigger particles than the latter one.

Originally Facets of Fuchsia was a limited edition nail polish, but because of the huge popularity Revlon included it in the permanent collection. Currently it goes by the name “Scandalous”.

Side Half Moon Manicure

Good morning Ladies,

We definitely have seen a lot of experiments with half-moon manicures lately. Reverse half-moon, ruffian manicure, is a huge trend right now.

I decided to try “half-moon” mani on the side of the nail. I used the same reinforcement circles that are usually used for these kinds of design. I also intentionally left the “hole”. The base color is Revlon Smoky Canvas and I topped it with Golden Rose 118 black holographic nail polish.

So, what do you think about this design? Do you like it? (It reminds me of a donut..lol)

Pink Wednesday – Revlon Starry Pink Matified

Hi Beauties!

This Wednesday I’m wearing Revlon Starry Pink. I’m sure you have already seen a lot of swatches of it, so I decided to modify it somehow…I mean matify..:D

I absolutely love this nail polish and I spent weeks to chase it down in my local drugstore. But I already mentioned on couple of blogs several times about Revlon strategy to rename best-selling polishes from limited collections and release them right after limited editions. And I can say it once again…I Don’t Like It…no, let me be more frank…
I Hate It!!!

To end on the positive note, I would say Revlon Popular is similar to Starry Pink. And if anyone didn’t get a change to buy one..it’s available in many drugstore or on Ulta. I’m also holding an 1 Year Anniversary Giveaway with 2 Popular nail Polishes as Prizes here.

Revlon Whimsical swatches

Hi ladies,

I hope you have a wonderful beginning of the week:)
I'm finally back from my trip and brought some quite interesting nail polishes that I will be swatching as soon as possible.
But, today's post is about Revlon Whimsical that I was trying to get my hands on for a long time and finally was lucky to find it on Ulta.

I was expecting it to be delivered before my trip, but it wasn't. So during the whole vacation i was wondering if it was delivered and hoping that it won't be stolen( Unfortunately, it happened before with the bigger purchases).

Revlon Whimsical is an absolutely lovely dupe of Deborah Lippmann's Glitter In The Air. Taking into account that Revlon is almost 15$ cheaper than the latter one, it's a pretty good deal.
Whimsical is sky blue jelly nail polish with pink and blue glitter on different sizes. It's very good for layering with other polishes, but I, personally, like the stand alone look more.
I used 3 coats to get the opacity you see in the pictures.

Tiger Manicure

Just a quick post.

I  wanted something bright for the weekend. Days are getting colder and darker, so I thought orange will be perfect

I used Color Club from Poptastic collection as a base and Revlon Copper Penny for Stamping.
Reminds me of Tigger from Vinnie-The-Pooh..hehe.

Deborah Lippmann Across the Universe vs. Revlon Blue Mosaic

I don’t know why I was under impression that Blue Mosaic is a dupe for DL Across the Universe.

In fact, it is not even close. Not taking into account that Across the Universe has a blue jelly base and Blue Mosaic has a clear base. The finish and the glitter particles differ significantly in shape and in color.

Sally Hansen Snow Blast Crackle Overcoat Swatches

Hi Girls!

Was passing by the isles in CVS and found this one. I originally intended to buy Color Club one, but as I hate waiting I thought this will not differ that much too.

Snow Blast is a white crackle nail polish…That’s it. Very simple polish to describe It has nothing else specific except crackle effect. The crackle effect depends on the thickness of the layer. I prefer small and square crackles, so I apply it as thin as possible. In my opinion, it is better to use Snow Blast with bright and dark nail polishes.

I used one coat of Revlon Fire as a base.

Revlon Teak Rose Swatches and Review

Hi Guys,

I will not write much about this nail polish, because I really don’t have anything special to say.

Teak Rose is a mauve shade with burgundy undertones. It’s a very nice color, I would even say very well-behaved. It’s very appropriate for work.  That might be a reason why I don’t use it so often. I feel it is to “modest” for me J

Revlon Not So Blueberry Swatches

I couldn’t pass up this new beauty from Revlon. The color is pretty unique.
Not So Blueberry - is a new shade in Revlon’s scented nail polish collection. But don’t try to sniff it right from the bottle….it smells awfully… a mix of chemicals and acetone. But when nail polish dries, the blueberry smell is much better, although it still smells a little like…hmmm…yeah….chemicals. As long as you have this nail polish on your nails, be prepared to be able to smell it every second you have your hand close to face…it lasts long.

As I mentioned couple of times in my previous posts, I’m quite impressed with the quality of Revlon’s polishes. Not so Blueberry didn’t disappoint me as well…application is easy, it stays on without chipping for a long time and the color is amazing.

In the bottle it seems like a duo chrome, although it’s not exactly the one….under artificial light nail polish is more purple and under natural daylight it’s more blue.

Weekend Manicure with Konad Dupes

Last week I read the review of MASH design plates on Beauty & Nail Art Blog. I decided to give it a try since the price seemed quite unbelievable (around $14 including shipping) for....set of 25 design plates. The shipping was blasting fast and I already tested a couple this weekend.

If I haven't owned Konad plates I would not probably be able to tell the difference, they are the same size and shape.Plates even have the same numbering as Konad.

Another pleasant thing about the MASH design plates is that the quality is surprisingly good for the price. I received some plates that I already have in Konad version and again, I wasn't able to see the difference.

Here's what I've got using China Glaze Secret Peri-wrinkle and Revlon Gold Coin for design along with MASH plate m63

OPI Suzi Says Feng Shui with Revlon Gold Coin tips

OPI Suzi Says Feng Shui is my favorite blue oneJ. This is my weekend “french” mani, if you can call it this way. Tips are Revlon Gold Coin, that is actually one of the best polishes for this purpose, ‘cause you can make perfect tips with just one coat. (I can never make normal tips with nail polishes that require 2 or more coats for full opacity….:))

I also added CND effects Gold sparkle as a top coat.

Revlon Matte Suede - Powder Puff

My close friend works at CVS and she tells me about all new nail polishes in stock at my local store. Last week I picked up couple of Matte Suede Revlon's: Fire Fox and Powder Puff.

Fire Fox was instantly given away. It's is a quite regular red nail polish and it's not matte by any means, because it contains small glitter particles. It just looks weird to me..that's all:(

I really like Powder Puff though. It has a powdery white base with blue shimmer. Yes...blue shimmer...it's not matte at all to me as well. But I like it anyways - coverage is good, only 2 coats are needed for 100% opacity and it's great as a base for nail art.
Natural Light

From the last picture it is obvious that the polish is not matte. I haven't used any top coat at all.
