Say Happy Mother's Day with Flowers from Make it Crafty

Have you wanted to play with the flowers in the Floral Elements Collection from Make it Crafty, but are not sure where to start? Well you could do what I did and start with one of the premade arrangements and add some extra words, flowers and elements. Zoe has done a great tutorial on how to layer digi stamps if you want some tips on how to do it.

To give you an idea of how I created it I've shown the different parts in different colours. You can see how just a few added elements changes the look of the Happy Flower Arrangement

To build the depth I used the Eraser tool to remove parts of the different layers so different petals look like they're sitting above other flowers or the words. Here's what the Mother's Day words actually look like (would you have guessed?).

I love the finished result.
I love Dog Roses to chose their colour scheme and kept the colouring fairly simple.

For the finishing touch I added a little shading to the words with C2, a layer of Wink of Stella to give a gentle shimmer, and finished with a layer of glossy accents.

I hope you like my creation and it's inspired you to have a go yourself. It really is easier than it first appears.

A Birthday Wish with Tiddly Inks

It's Fab Friday over on the Tiddly Inks Blog & there are so many amazing creations on show. Make sure you pop over and have a look. I decided to use Wryn Wishes for my card - I do love this image - simple but lots of fun - perfect for a birthday card.

Here's Wryn Wishes close up. I used Wink of Stella & Sakura Stardust on the dandelions to give them some gentle sparkle. It doesn't really show in the photo, but in real life it makes a difference.

I added Sakura Stardust to the sentiment I typed so it had some sparkle too.

A Galaxy for Stephen Hawking

Well this isn't at all the card I had planned to share today, but with the news of the passing of Stephen Hawking I felt this quote needed to be made into a card. It sort of popped into my head & pushed me to play out of my comfort zone.

I started the card by printing the quote with a laser printer and foiling it with silver foil on my Foil Master machine. I then used distress inks to make a galaxy background and I added a small sprinkling of Stampendous Shabby White Embossing Enamel to give the impression of stars in the background. The foil is water resistant so resisted the distress inks and stayed shiny.

I cut the Scribble Circle Stars Chipboard frame from Make it Crafty in two to make it frame the quote. I'd never thought of doing that before! I knew this frame was prefect for the quote, but was too petite to place the quote inside it - cutting it in half worked nicely! I coated the frame with a layer of Wow Superfine Metallic Silver embossing powder & then added some Stampendous Silver Glitter embossing power and Stardust Stickles to the stars and dots on the frame.

Very different from my usual creations, but I'm really pleased with how it turned out & hope it's a fitting tribute to an amazing man.

Birthday Molly with Tiddly Inks

This month the challenge over at Tiddly Inks is to use one of the Molly images. Well that's hardly a challenge is it? There are lots of lovely Molly's to choose from but I went for Molly Celebrates. Who can resist a good cake eh and it's always good to celebrate a birthday.

Here's her close up. I wanted to give those candles a really good glow - I'm not going to ask how old she is, but she doesn't look old enough to have THAT many candles! I added a few flicks of darker blue copic to add some detail to her skirt.

See! Super glowy candles! I love making the glow from the candles catch bits of her hair where the light would catch it.

I finished the card off with some chippies from Make it Crafty - happy from the Birthday Adapt-a-word set and Birthday Single Layered word. I coloured them with my Copics and finished them with a layer of glossy accents.
