Celebrating Valentine's Day at the Log Cabin

One of the things we couldn't wait for when we moved into our log cabin was to celebrate the holidays! The log cabin looks perfect, cozy and warm with Christmas trees, a wreath, garland and more.  We decided to keep the festive spirit going by having a year round tree and celebrating many different holidays and events.

Here is our Valentine's Day tree above. We picked up lights, decorative valentine wooden ornaments and garland at Hobby Lobby and Christmas Tree Shop.  I think a white tree is perfect to show off the red and pink colors.  A heart garland was hung across the fireplace. We are now ready to celebrate!

Other upcoming fun holidays and events you can decorate a tree for: St. Patrick's Day, Easter, 4th of July,  Spring (think bird and butterfly motif) and more.  Besides, I love enjoying twinkling lights at night at the cabin.

Let us know if the comments if you ever had a year-round tree.

Happy (upcoming) Valentine's Day!

Valentine Chick at the cabin!

Ever since we've had our log cabin, I've been inspired to decorate for every season and every holiday. Some of you know I already put out some Valentine decorations. But here's the one that sent Greg over the edge. He said that I am "chicking" the cabin out with this Valentine's Day tree. (This is all said with good humor of course!)

But I bet he won't think these yummy cupcakes are too "chicky" for him! Huh mister? What do you think about these? Should I give them to all the chicks on our street?
(P.S. I love you!)

Decorating the Cabin for Valentine's Day

When I got sick over the holidays, I was a little upset not to be spending time at our log cabin. Especially since I wanted to enjoy all the Christmas decorations I had put up. By the time I felt better it was time to take everything down. So Dawnie at Dawnies Life by the Sea had mentioned hanging up some Valentine's lights. A light popped on in my head. Literally! I could decorate for Valentine's Day! Just a few simple things.....nothing overboard.

Below I added some red candles with a berry garland wrapped around the candle sticks. Then I found this cute wooden sign that says "Love." (By the way, Kohls is having a sale on their Valentine decorations right now!)

I hung valentine garland with heart shaped lights on the staircase.

Here's a close up of the heart lights - I love their glow! And Greg if you're reading this....a Bernese Mountain dog puppy with a red ribbon wrapped around his neck would make the PERFECT Valentine's Day gift!
