Q & A Part Two.

Hi there! My question is: I believe at one point you said that in your kitchen you used peel n stick tile. I recently used this in my Gmas Bathroom Remodel. The kind that you grout and seal. I was wondering how yours has held up?
It's held up wonderfully! Besides the fact that there's one tile that I cut into a tad when I was using the saw.. Totally my fault obviously, but the normal wear and tear is holding up great! We even have them in our bathroom and I was worried with water and moisture but they're doing good in there too! I love them, cheap and easy.

Tell me more about date nights! I have been working on ideas. Need some. LOL I've found it really doesn't matter too much, as long as it is time together. Simple, fun works for me.
Ohhhhh and WHERE did you get the cake??? It is adorable.

Oh, girl. Believe me, our date nights aren't the most exciting! But we're together and that's what matters, you're 100% right on that. We both really like Carrabbas and don't go there much unless we're childless so a lot of times we go there, and then to a movie, we love movies! Once we took a nap, mostly unintended but we laid down before we went out and both fell asleep! Whoops! Our most fun date was when I bought tickets for his birthday to see Mr. Dane Cook.. and got to meet him Love that guy! Too funny.

Or, every once in a while we'll go to a quick dinner (Qdoba..YUM!) and then browse Home Depot and talk about all the future projects we want to do, where we want to go, day dream together. Go to a grill type restaurant with a bar and spend a dollar or two on Keno.. and never win. ;) Then cuss out the other people who are winning. Speaking of gambling, we got a hotel room at a casino a few hours away once. Lost all the money in around...15 minutes and said forget it. We ate cheesecake in the hotel room the rest of the night. :)

A not so flattering picture. You owe me.

The cake is from a small bakery in our town, it's a mini version of our wedding cake. I surprised him with it for our recent anniversary (Aug 18th) it was delicious, yellow cake with raspberry & cream filling plus butter cream frosting. Heaven.

I also want to know how you do it all and what inspires your crafting and decorating style. I just love it!
I don't do it all, hardly. :) My style has changed so much in recent years I barely know what it really is. I used to love bright colors, animal prints, glittery things, contemporary. But once we bought our house I simmered down a bit and I like light, neutral colors.

I also started to like white.. A lot.

Kind of cottage meets traditional I think? It might always change too, I like the saying  I heard once, I think it was from Nester? Put things in your house that you love, and it will be beautiful.
Some inspiration homes that I love? Layla, Nester, Aura, Shelly.. Probably more too that I can't think of at the moment, I'll keep adding to the list as I remember. :)

Love the idea! I have a couple questions:
-What annoys you sometimes in other blogs? (or said another way... what would you suggest new bloggers NOT do)
-What other advice would you give a new blogger?
-You've made a few comments about possibly having a third?!? Is this a true possibility in the future?

Great questions! Not much annoys me, I've heard the music thing bugs a lot of bloggers but personally, mine is always on mute so even if it does come up I don't hear it. Don't jump into it assuming you're going to get sponsors, giveaways, and a million hits right away. It doesn't really annoy me just makes me giggle. Blogging for some sort of revenue is a lot of work! I've been doing it for almost 3 years and I'm hardly an expert so when someone just starts out and expects to be raking in the dough, I just want to say "Slow down! Do it to enjoy it first!"

A third? Whew.. Well.. Um.. It depends on the day you ask me I guess. Last winter I went through some serious baby craze and all I wanted was another. My husband was finally on board then we went to Disney and realized how hard it would be to have a third. So we chickened out. :) But now, it's starting to linger in my mind again, and although husband says he's 99.9% sure he's done, I'm not sure. Two is easy, would three push me over the edge? Will they just fit right in? Go with the flow? Eeek. I see pictures of when they're little and realize how big they are, then I do want one.

But then I remember how freakishly big I get and I change my mind again.

How's that for an answer? :)

This is fun guys! I'm just gonna go through the list but if you have any more just keep 'em coming! Happy days!

Making it mine.

While on a recent antiquing trip with my Mom for her birthday (Happy Birthday Mom!) she bought me (yes I know, her birthday and she buys me crap.. Mothers *sigh*) a super old, super heavy, super delicious milk crate. I'm in.love.with.it.

Excuse the bad lighting, it's rainy and dark here but I'm too excited to show you to wait! :)

I wanted to add a touch of "me" to it. I had seen an idea just like this somewhere and now for the life of me I can't find it to link up-- if you did this or know who did email me! Credit given to credit due!

*My friend Sandra informed me that there's a similar post like this at Cap Creations! It's not the exact one I saw, but very close-- and super cute too!

So, here's what I did. I looked up a font that was oldish--scriptish--and easy enough for me to free hand. It wasn't going to be perfect and I'm okay with that. Then I painted it on and scuffed it up. The number is our anniversary date by the way. I love it!

And, for the crate-- it's not deep enough to hold anything thick and lovely like a gorgeous cream blanket I had in mind but it's perfect for a healthy amount of magazines. I could fill it all the way up and it might just drive my husband crazy-- I'm a pottery barn magazine hoarder, I know this. :)

I have a little idea for the top shelf of the table too. Just you wait!
*Nope, my walls aren't yellow-- There's that crappy lighting again!*

Anything you added your personal touch to? Even if it was an antique and took all the value away? But added infinite value in your home? :)

Fancy 4 Fridays

My pal Kimmie is having her first ever party!

Woohoo! She wants to know whats been tickling our fancy lately.. Such a cute idea, no? So-- here we go!

1. Is no surprise, I've talked about it before but I just finished the most recent book by Charlaine Harris. I started out becoming obsessive by watching the HBO show, which is kind of like Twilight. But 100% not sutible for anyone under, say.. 21. For reals.

What can I say though? Love it.

He might have something to do with it. But let's not tell Mr. P that.

2. Words with Friends on my iphone. It's scrabble, but on my phone. I play it all day long. Serious. I can't lose. Have an Iphone and want to play? Let me know!

3. This lake that is calling my name.every.day. now that it's summer!

4.  Pretty much everything this girl writes about is something that I love to read. I've read her blog from start to finish. Don't tell her, the stalker alarm might go off.. :)

Okay so that's that! Thank you Kimmie for having me update my "lovin" list! Now, go on and do yours girls! :)

XOXO

I don't mean to brag. But I'm pretty sure God wanted to send me a little hugs and kisses yesterday. A little diddy like this,

"Hey, Rachelle enjoy the snow- I love ya. XOXO- God."

Don't believe me? Take a look for yourselves.

XOXO.

Coincidence? I think not.

Lost in transition

Is it just me or is everyone cleaning like mad women out in blogland lately? I took a mini blog break to work on a couple things like finishing the laundry. Which inevitably lead to me hating 85% of my clothing and laying it all out and getting rid of it.

Seriously. 27 shirts, 7 pairs of jeans and 5 pairs of shoes. I don't know if I've shown my closet before but it's tiny. Like, shower stall size tiny. Our old apartment had a closet three times this size. I wont argue that it might be the reason our house is sitting on the market so long. It's very liberating to throw everything on the bed and say

"I don't need you, pink shirt."

"Size -1 jeans, I'll never fit in you again, let's be real."

Okay-- so my after picture. Remember, again and again-- I can't change the size of the closet but I can change the amount that goes in it! It might look cramped still to you, but compared to before, when the left over amount had to live in laundry baskets because I have too much STUFF.

Out with the STUFF. In with the things that matter, that's 2010.

2010 To do list.

Now that 2009 is out the door I've been getting together my honey do to do list for this year. Nothing is too far out of reach in my opinion, but Mr. P may cuss me out under his breath after he reads this.

1. The foyer, entry way, dungeon. I can't stand it. Hate is a little strong; but realistically it's fitting. It's so boring and blah, and when there isn't a set place for shoes they end up all over the place. I have a strong dislike for coats all over the place so I need some ideas for that, but besides that, I have big ideas for this doozie.

2. The girls' rooms. We didn't want to have to do this, but so far we haven't sold our house and it's been on the market quite a while. I plan to have them share a room and make LB2's room a play room. Unless magically someone buys it and spares me a lot of fuss!

*chirp, chirp---chirp*

Right-- didn't think so.

3. Bathroom, *sigh* again. Nothing downright dirty about it it just needs another face lift. Mr. P will never understand this, but when something isn't right-- it eats at you. Every.day. Am I correct? Yes, I know. New color, curtain, blinds. Done and done.

4. Curtains for the dining room. Simply because I'm sick of the hate mail from my neighbor about having to watch me eat my egos in the morning sans make up. Sorry neighbor. Will do! ;)

5. Shoebox Master Bedroom. We jokingly staged it for the showings but I feel like I deserve a retreat. *Stomps feet & crosses arms* so there.

So welcome to my top 5. Not too out of range right? Simple fixes, nothing a Dr. Pepper and locking the kids in their rooms quiet peaceful children having a nap time can't fix.

Year end review

Some of this years highlights, enjoy!

The biggest (and my favorite), we finished our kitchen renovation. Woohoo!

Check it out here, here and here.

Annnd, Don't forget to check it out in this summer edition of Kitchen + Bath Makeover magazine! *Squeeeaaal*

Then, we put the little cottage that could, up for sale.

New kitchen and all. Sad stuff, but time to move on to bigger and better things. Hopefully this time with less spiders.

We unprofessionally un ghettoized staged our bedroom for under 100.00 in a hurry.

We painted some goodie furniture.

And a broken pitcher.

Did something with those chubby cheeked baby photos.

And, all around partied like rock stars.

Can't wait to see what this year has in store!
