Primitive House

A little late in the season, but here is my first finish of the year.  Yes, you did read correct, this is my first!!  LOL.  Isnt it cute?  I bought this piece of linen in February, changed the DMC to Crescent Colors for a little variety and ta-da!! This piece is called Primitive House from Ewe & Eye & Friends.  32ct Lakeside something with Crescent Colors.

This is the project I mentioned a few posts ago, that was almost half done in 2 days, and then it was pushed off to the side.  Flying to my sisters wedding, I decided it was time to get it done!  I finished it on the flight over, and was a tiny bit annoyed that I didnt have something to stitch on the way back.  I attempted to look for one in the stash that I have at my mothers house, but didnt find something to easy.  So needless to say, I came back empty handed.  Can you even imagine?  Empty handed!!

Sampler Purse Finished!!

As you can see, this is the 'something' I was working on this week, that is now finally complete. The stitching part to me, was a piece of cake, the finishing part however was a pita. I cut out the interfacing, ironed and sewed this beauty into a new look. I am sooo excited to see the final product and look forward to using it sometime over the Holidays. This design is from Dames of the Needle, and I used the called for fabric- 32ct Vintage Woodsmoke Lakeside. I changed all the Gentle arts threads it called for (shock) into Gloriana and Silk N Colors. I love the Blackbirds! The colors are just so vibrant. For the lining I chose a deep teal in Dupioni Silk, I felt it needed a fancy fabric, especially because I chose the silk threads.

I am still working on a few other projects, soon to be posted. But I just had to stop and share this with you!! Thanks to everyone who reads my blog-- and takes the time to comment, email or text me. I just love it :)

Added to answer some questions!

I am going to keep it as a clutch, to me it is very dainty that way :)

I purchased this pattern at my LNS, most shops should be able to order this--it is a must have for sure!!

Sampler Purse Stitched

I am so excited to share these pictures today. I think that this Sampler Purse is going to be soo cute!! I love it already, and it isnt even "finished"!! I switched out the colors for the birds on the bottom- which will be the front flap of the 'clutch' style purse. They were supposed to be blue, but since I am a huge fan of Blackbirds (who could have guessed?!) I decided they needed to be as well. I have to thank Nadia, Jenifer, Jeannine, Janet and Lynn for there help in choosing the 3rd color for my birds!! I purchased the interfacing, and hope to choose the fabric for the liner and sides this week. I am going to attempt the finishing on it, it shouldnt be to hard, just have to have patience.

How was everyone's Holiday weekend? Mine was very nice, visited with some friends and laughed alot. I love laughing-- it is nice to do, and lately I think I have been doing alot more of it!! YEAH!! Another great week lies ahead, and I am positive, more laughing! :)

Happy Tuesday! Off to another exciting week! I had a nice relaxing weekend, which was much needed after last week. Organized some stash, watched the tube and stitched a bit on my "Sampler Purse" I have 1 more row on the bottom of the grass, and then this panel (1 of 3) is done. I am going to start another panel today for sure! I am really enjoying this one.

Happy belated Birthday to Kathy, and Happy Birthday to Paula, we will have to get all the gals together for sure!! It will be great fun to see all of you!!! Soon, I promise!!! Have a great time at Guild tonight, I will be thinking of you all!

The Black Forest

I just cant believe it is May 3rd already, it was just May 1st, where is this time going? It has been a busy last few days and I havent had much time to really stitch, so I decided today before anything else, I wanted to finish and post the Black Forest. I must say, that Black linen is going to be used in my future for sure! I have had no trouble seeing or stitching on it, and very pleased with the way it looks. Now, I will definately stitch the new Sampler Cove piece Sirin Jaidee, no problem. I kept the colors the same as the pattern called for, and really, really like them. Now if I could just figure out if I did just stitch reindeer!?

A Finish & A Start

After finishing Miss Ida Mae, I had no clue what the next project was going to be. Monday morning I went to the craft room, and there are so many things in the stash, all kitted up waiting to be chosen to come out and play. So many options, so little time. The top picture is Sheepish Designs "Flaming Flower", now OOP. I switched the colors up a bit, still using Gentle Arts/Crescent Colors, but wanted my bird to be black (Black coffee) instead of "black crow" which is more navy blue. On a piece of leftover 40ct Lentil Lakeside Linens that I used from the Blackbird Loose Feathers Keepsake Box, it fit just perfectly! It is 4" x 5", nice, sweet, easy, & finished it last night.

It is still early Tuesday night, what should be next? The Goode Huswife "The Black Forest" also OOP... I don't know how deep this was in the pile, but I have only used Black linen once before, starting a Chatelaine piece (which needs to make an appearance....) and wanted to get in some more practice. I must say, with a proper light (I love my Ott light), I don't see any trouble with it. Using the NPI colors called for and 32ct Black linen, I am excited with the turnout. The picture on the pattern never does the piece justice, and I am all for changing things, but it seemed to work perfectly when I pulled the colors out. I will take more progress pics tonight!

Oldies but Goodies

Last year I completed these cute little Birds of a Feather pieces, the first piece is "Bloom Where you are Planted" done on 28ct Birds of a Feather Meadowlark linen with Weeks & Gentle arts threads. The bottom piece is "Schoolhouse Sampler" done on 32ct Birds of a Feather Onyx linen with Weeks & Gentle arts threads. Both were a nice treat to stitch!!

Update, Blackbird & Chartmakers

It has been a couple of weeks since I have posted something new, and it is high time!! The top picture is the Blackbird Designs "Underneath the Sunlit Sky", Loose Feathers #26; 30ct Sea Fog R & R Linen, Gentle Arts & Weeks Threads......I was stuck on the "buttonhole stitch" on the trees around the house (hard to see in the picture). What a bugger!!!!! I did this stitch last year, but since I don't use the stitch that often, I had a hard time remembering!!! Overall, it turned out really pretty!!

The Second picture, is Chartmakers Tombstone Angels "Abigail Adams". A great, simple project, of course, not to make anything easy, I switched the DMC to Belle Soie Silks, as shown on the left of the picture. I am so pleased with the turnout, using 32ct BOF linen, a tiny scrap, of course you know we cant ever throw those away!!!! She will fit nicely with "Thriller"!!!! Don't know what Thriller is??? I will have to post a picture!!!! Stay tuned!!

Willies Quaker Band Sampler

I have a variety of projects I like to do, and it keeps it really interesting. The first picture, is Monasterium Designs Willies Quaker Band. I happened to find a piece of Birds of a Feather Sparrow Linen 32ct, long and lean, had to have it, but had no idea what I was going to stitch on it!! My friend Roz, came up with this great project, and with the help of Jeannine, Kim and Roz, chose Weeks Dye Works & Gentle Arts threads, and just love how it turned out!!
