Love Is Sweet

Hi everyone!!!!!
Hope you all are enjoying the weekend!  I have a layout to share with you today
that I created for sketch challenge no. 32 at Scrap Africa.

And here is the sketch designed by Marta.

I used papers and embellishments from Prima's Delight Collection along with lots of stamps, stencils, mists, paints, inks and Shimmerz Inklingz.  Will admit I was a bit of a nervous Nellie working on the background, but just went for it and love the end result!

Time Has Flown - The One That Almost Wasn't

It's true that time has flown by and oh so quickly.  Here it is the end of June, summer is upon us and how quickly the months have passed.  I started this canvas mid month when I saw the current challenge at Scrap Africa, Challenge No. 30 Use Your Stash.  Great challenge given that I have been trying to clean up  my scrapbook room and have come across so many of those long forgotten papers and embellishments.  I used some 7 Gypsies scraps of papers along with some My Minds Eye Fly Away collection and bits and pieces of old Basic Grey embellishments. I dug deep into my flower box and found lots of flowers from collections of long ago.

And you ask why in my title I have "The One That Almost Wasn't?"  Like I said I started this mid month.   Have been super busy at work and putting in some very long days and would work on this a few minutes every evening when I had a little free time.  I did a lot of masking, misting, stamping and painting.  My first time using 13 Arts paints and have to say I love them!!!  So rich and creamy!♥

Scrap Africa Guest Designer!

So happy to be guest designing at Scrap Africa today for their layout sketch #20 challenge!  I've spent many an hour going through my  never ending stash and came across the Hello Friend collection by Glitz Design.  Forgot all about it and when I looked through the papers I instantly knew I had to use it.
I misted the baclground paper with some Mister Huey's Color Mist in Opaque White and randomly inked some some yellow ink. I also used Prima's Lattice mask.

Here are a few closeups:
Lately I've been incorporating a lot of outlining in my layouts.  Here I have used the Martha Stewart Deep Edge Punch Wild Flowers and outlined it with a Zig Writer pen in Island Coral.

Trying ever so hard to get back into the swing of things with my crafting.
I'll be back in a few days to share another layout with you.

Thanks for stopping by!

Days Like This Make Me So Happy

As I was typing this post I  realized that I haven't posted anything in almost two weeks . . . yikes!  Between being sick and dealing with day to day issues, time passes by too quickly.  I broke into my July kit from Artful Delight and created this layout using their July sketch.  I love the challenge #19, Patchwork Effect at Scrap Africa which I incorporated into my layout along with Bird Is The Word's newest word challenge - Celebrate.

I love the bright vibrant colors in the papers!

Here are a few closeups:

Believe it or not I will be back tomorrow to share another layout with you!

The Path To R.C.M.P. House

Where has the time gone?  June is half way over, seems to have gone by in a flash!  I had some free time  and was able to complete a layout for a few challenges. I combined the June challenges at Scrap Around The World along with the House Challenge at 13Arts and the Stencils, Paint and Paste Challenge at Scrap Africa.  How nice to be able to incorporate a few challenges into one layout!
I dug in deep and ventured into the world of paint, masking, misting, gelatos and stamping!   I've always been so inspired by so many of you out there when it comes to using mixed  media on your projects, but have always felt uneasy at giving it a try.  I tend to over think my process, but this time I just went for it.

Loved the sketch for Scrap Around The World and mood board!

I drew my inspiration from the cameras as it drew me to the old and treasured pictures I have from my Mom's childhood. The text camera and the word "memories" along with the books, as it made be think of old pages, which I included on my layout. The pink in the mood board popped out at me so I included a touch of pink here and there on my layout.

At 13Arts you are required to:
1. Please create a project that contains the theme of a house.
2. Your work must contain also at least one recycled element, two types of media and a stamp or a transfer.
The picture on my layout was taken by my grandmother.  My grandfather was a Royal Canadian Policeman and the picture is of a snow covered path that leads to the house they lived in.  Love that the picture contains my grandmother's handwriting.  As there is no house in the picture, I included a chipboard house on my layout that I painted with gesso, added some crackle paint and texture paint.  I tore off a piece of a cardboard flap from a shipping box as my recycled item which I covered with texture paint. I used various stamps, stencils, modeling past and glimmer mist.  I also used a couple of pieces of paper from 13Arts Frosted Life collection.

Here are a few closeups:

I felt a reward of accomplishment with the finished product.  Thought of my Mom and how much she would have loved this layout and the memories she would have shared with me about her childhood.  I miss those days of conversation with my Mom.  She's still here, but those precious memories of her past are long gone, lost and forgotten.  This one is for you with love, Mom.

So In Love With You

I love when I have a fabulous picture to work with. I draw so much inspiration from it.  This one is a friend's daughter.  All I can say is so sweet and precious!♥   I completed this layout for a few challenges.  First one is the May Challenge at Zeus and Zoe, using their mood board which you can see here. I got my inspiration from the filigree butterflies, the key and pink bows.  I am also entering this in Get Creative's May 1st Challenge which is to use flowers on your layout,

I used a piece of "Damaged Punchinella" chipboard from UmWow Studio which you can find here.
I painted it with some pink paint and then sprinkled it with glitter.

I've been enjoying my Silhouttee Cameo and used it to cut out these pretty filigree butteflies
along with a fancy flourish frame for my picture.

Here a cut out a circular frame which you can find here.

More cuts from my Silhoutte which can be found here.

Here is a closeup of my flower cluster:

It's hot and humid outside today.
I'll be staying inside and working on a few more projects that I will share
with you in the next couple of day.

So Sweet

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!  Are you ready for Thanksgiving??  I am . . . everything has been purchased, I've got my to do list ready and just waiting for Thursday to come.  I'll have my "small" family over for dinner and can't wait to enjoy the day with them.  With that being said I do have a layout to share with you today using the November kit and sketch from Artful Delight and the "Sweet"  word challenge at Bird Is The Word along with the Chevron Challenge at Scrap Africa.
I loved working with the Crate Paper On Trend papers in the kit!  Love the bright colors.

I did a lot of machine stitching:
 and stamping:
I used some pink ribbon from my stash and laced it through the frame:
Here is a little cluster.
The flower, brad and button are part of the kit.
I added a few embellishments from Purple Pumpkin.
Here I used a satin flower, a butterfly flair badge and white crochet doily:
and here I used some tickets and a resin flower:
There are still a few November kits left to purchase at Artful Delight.  You can check out the contents and order your kit here.
