Freshly Made Sketches #210

For this Christmas card I have used a punch and an embossing folder.  The bird punch is from SU! and the wood embossing folder is Paper Studio, and the sentiment is MFT.  I began by punching the birds in red cardstock, the leaves in green and the wings in designer paper.  They were attached to a piece of white embossed cs that I trimmed.  I used the Misti to stamp the sentiment and then heat embossed.  After attaching the bird piece to the base card I attached black crystals for the eyes.

Paper - SU! designer paper, Michael's white, red and green card stock
Punch - SU! Bird Builder
Embossing Folder - Paper Studio "Woodgrain"
Stamp - MFT "Christmas"
Ink - VersaFine
Other - Zing! Clear Embossing Powder, Bling (Michael's)

Tag You're It! Challenge #33

I have been gone for five days and so I am hurrying to get a card submitted to this challenge.  Although at one time I had a candy corn stamp it has disappeared so instead I am using an image that was in the UFO box.  Also I used a snippet of purple paper and a leftover cobweb from a class.  The purple yarn was given to me when I went to a yarn store.  The stamp set is Inky Antics "Halloween Hijinx," an oldie but cute images.

I kinda feel like I won the lottery.  Why?  Well I had the pleasure of meeting the one and only DARNELL.  We were visiting our son and family in northern California and Darnell lives about an hours drive from our son.  My sweet mister dropped me off at Darnell's but they spoke long enough to realize they are both Iowans (great people).  The time went by quickly but we had fun gabbing and looking at all her stuff (I did not see the NBUS pile), and checking out the locations in her back yard where she takes her great card snapshots.  Darnell looks exactly like her photos with her beautiful smile.

I just want to say she is so dang cute, check out the plaid Keds.

CASology: Week 169 Zombie

I tried to keep this card CAS by stamping and embossing the image and no coloring.  I did use a circle mask and applied yellow ink and a dab of orange, and used two orange crystals.  Kraft paper is one of my favorite tools and I think it worked well with just heat embossing.

Stamps - Stampendous "Mumeek," Inky Antics "Halloween Hijinx"
Paper - Kraft
Ink - VersaFine, Distress Inks: Mustard Seed, Wild Honey
Other - Crystal Bling (Michael's), Clear Embossing Powder

Seize the Birthday: Splatter & Surprise Guest

This card is a little different than I normally make and I began by using a NBUS product called Easy Frames.  I still need to work on getting the correct plates to make a good impression.  How it works is you use an embossing folder and one of the frames and it creates an unembossed portion.  I was not happy with the results so I did some line work and then added some NBUS embellishments.  This was mounted onto a piece of patterened card stock.  Below is a close up of the parrot.
I couldn't pass not submitting a card when the surprise guest is the lovely, talented, kind and considerate Anita in France.

Embossing Folder - Cuttlebug "Number Collage"
Darice - Easy Frames
Embellishments - unknown, no label
Stamp -  AAW PrintWorks (from Hobby Lobb)
Paper - SU! Pumpkin Pie, Lasting Impressions
Ink - VersaFine, Copic Multiliner

Merry Monday Chirstmas Challenge #175 MOOSE

This card I made for Merry Monday's Christmas challenge featuring a moose.  This stamp, along with two more moose stamps, I purchased from Unity.  I stamped the image and colored with Copics  then die cut it and die cut a second piece in red.  On the base card I used two coordinating snippets of paper.  I stamped the sentiment and matted it with red paper.  Both the image and sentiment were attached to the base card.  I put Glossy Accents on the ornaments and his heart.

Stamps - Unity "A(moose)ing Holiday," Purple Onion (sentiment)
Die Cut -  MFT Pierced Circles
Ink - Copics, VersaFine
Paper - Michael's white cs, snippets
Other - Glossy Accents

CASology: Week 167 SILLY

This is one of my older stamps and I find it silly and worth a chuckle.  I intentionally colored her to look a little wild, after all she has on a tiny bikini top, so orange/red hair seemed perfect.
I stamped the image and colored with colored pencils and then trimmed it.  Before mounting onto the base card I added some washi tape.  Once put together I added glossy accent and a smidge of wink of stella.

Stamp - Emerson " Just Call Me Rita..."
Paper - PTI white card stock
Ink - VersaFine, Inktense Colored Pencils
Other - Washi Tape, Wink of Stella, Glossy Accents

Tag You're It Challenge #32

Displaying TYIC_GuestDesigner_Badge.png

I am tickled to be the guest designer for the Tag You're It Challenge #32  .  Despite the fact that I have way too many stamps, Santas were limited to three and one is on a surfboard.  But a sweet fellow card maker sent me some images last year and that is what I have used.  Thank you Judy M.

I like how Kelly used the side of the card to place her Santa and I love polka dot paper.  I had intended to use Kraft paper, one of my favorites, but the red polka dot won.

The image had been previously stamped and die cut from Judy so I colored with Copics and used a GellyRoll pen.  Next I chose a die and cut it in white cs, then the cloud paper and then white again.  I tore the bottom piece to give the look of snow.  All the pieces were lined up and glued together and then I punched the top.  I stamped the sentiment in gold and heat embossed.  The tree was attached and I used mounting tape on Santa.  Before attaching the tag to the card base I used organza ribbon like Kelly and added a piece of grosgrain.

Stamps - MFT " Jingle All the Way," Purple Onion "Joy" (sentiment)
Ink - Copics, GellyRoll (clear), VersaFine
Die Cut - Nestabilities Classic Scalloped Rectangle
Paper - Neenah, snippets
Other - embossing powder (gold), ribbon, mounting tape

Addicted to CAS: Challenge Dream

I was in need of a birthday card for my eldest granddaughter and I came across this previously colored and embossed piece of background paper in my UFO box.  This had been done in a class a month or two ago so I don't recall the colors I used nor the embossing folder which I borrowed.  I do know that I used the smooshing method on watercolor paper.  I chose the sentiment  from Stamplorations and it was inked and heat embossed.  After trimming this piece I attached it to a piece of white cs and added some clear crystal bling.

Stamp - Stamplorations "Noteworthy"
Paper - watercolor, PTI white card stock
Ink - VersaFine and unknown
Embossing Folder - Feathers (unknown)

CASology Week 166: SCIENCE

This card  I made last week but did not have time to post it until now as we were out of town.
I just want to say we had some much needed rain yesterday and it is raining right now.  My thoughts go to those of you who are being ravaged with rain, winds and flooding.  Californians know that this could be a year of a lot of rain which can bring havoc to those areas that have been hit by fire and flooding and landslides can occur.  Our state is suffering the worse drought in history.  In our area we can only water twice a week and there is mandatory state rationing.  Funny as it may sound, son #2 has let his lawn go dry and has spray painted it and it looks fine from the street. Eventually he will install fake grass which can be pricey.

My card has a cheap stamp from Michael's $1.50 bin, and the sentiment stamp cost almost five times as much, but it is cute.  After stamping and coloring I die cut the image.  Next I embossed a second piece of cs and then die cut it.  The two pieces were attached and the paper trimmed before attaching to a third piece of white cs.  That is it, no bling but I did add some Glossy Accents to the bubbles.

Stamps - Craft Smart (Michael's), Lockhart Stamps (#10044) sentiment
Die Cut - Lil Inkers Stitched Rectangle
Embossing Folder - Quick Cut - Polka Dot Large
Paper - Neenah
Ink - Copics, Memento
Other - Glossy Accents
