MERRY Monday #167 Hearts

I went through all of my Christmas stamps and had none with a heart, except for this stamp which had a row of hearts. So I put the sentiment and hearts aside and decided to use two owls. First I diecut and stamped two images and then die cut two more from two snippets of designer paper, and I fussy cut just the scarves. The owls were colored with copics and then I attached the scarves. Next I die cut the heart, the tree limb and the sentiment. The white cardstock was embossed with a small heart folder. First I attached the white piece to the red base card, and then began gluing the pieces onto the white piece. Lastly I mounted the two owls.

Stamps - Lawn Fawn "Winter Owl"
Die Cuts - Lawn Fawn "Winter Owl," Lil Inkers Heart and

CAS(E) this Sketch! #133

I have really enjoying playing with Brushos this past week. For this card I switched to Distress Inks because I was looking for softer colors. I began by stamping various circle stamps with VersaMark and embossing with white embossing powder on watercolor paper. The ink was smeared on an acrylic block and then with a wet paint brush I picked up the colors and filled in the circles. When this process was done I spritzed the paper with water. On a craft mat I smooshed two colors of ink and sprayed with water then placed a snippet of wc paper on top and patted the paper lightly. This piece of paper when dry was die cut. A second die was cut with blue cs and the two pieces were glued together and then I applied Wink of Stella. The die was glued on to the focus piece and mounted onto a piece of blue cardstock and then the base card.

Paper - Strathmore #140 paper, Gina K blue, white
Distress Inks - Spiced Marmalade, Peacock Blue, Shaded Lilac, Picked Raspberries
Stamps - Stamplorations "Holiday Artsy," Large Circle - unknown company
Die - Paper Smooches "friend"

Seize the Birthday "Anything Goes"

August is right around the corner and I have eight cards to make and three are for little boys. This fist card is for Ethan (my friend's grandson) and he will be three, thus three balloons. I stamped the parrot with Memento and colored with copics and fussy cut the image. The sentiment was stamped next and I must confess I am not happy with the image which I stamped numerous times with three different kinds of ink. I was beginning to think I needed to replace the Memento but then decided it was the stamp and maybe it is suppose to look old. Oh well! The frons were inked next and colored. Using a snippet of red cs I die cut the balloons and then attached jute. I attached mounting tape to the parrot and one ballon and then carefully attached all the balloons to Polly. The image was matted onto red cs and then mounted on the base card.

Stamp - Darcie's "Polly Pirate"
Ink - Memento, Copics
Paper - Neenah, red snippet
Die Cut - MFT "Party Balloons"
Other - American Crafts Jute, mounting tape

CASology: Week 156 LINE

A couple of weeks ago our card making group demonstrated heat embossing to our newer members. I brought this old SU! stamp and white embossing powder and stamped and heat embossed the image and then set it aside. Last week I began to play with the image and first masked it and then began playing with distress inks. Again I set it aside and yesterday decided I should finish making the card. I was unhappy with my first attempt at a card for the cue word and chose a phone - phone line. Then when I saw the dolphins I decided this was my card as the image is full of lines starting with the sides and then the straight sun rays and finally the curvy wave lines. After trimming this piece I attached it to a piece of SU! Bermuda Bay paper and attached to the base card. I chose not to add a sentiment as I like the simplicity of the card.

Stamp - SU! (old set title unknown)
Ink - VersaMark, Distress Ink:  Broken China, Peacock Feathers, Faded Jeans
Paper - SU! Whisper White, Bermuda Bay
Other - Recollections Snow Embossing Powder

ATCAS: Chevron

This card for ATCAS starts with one of my favorite background paper techniques the embossing folder stamping method. On the open ef I applied three colors of distress ink, spritzed with water and then lightly tapped a piece of white card stock on top. When the ink was dry I stamped and heat embossed the horse/rider and the sentiment. I attached this to blue cs and then the entire piece onto a piece of SU! confetti white cs which is one of my all time favorites as I love the color imperfections in the paper.

Paper - SU! Whisper White, Pool Party, Confetti White
Ink - Distress Ink: Broken China, Tumbled Glass, Pumice Stone, VersaFine
Embossing Folder - Sizzix "Chevron"
Stamps - Horse came from a Red Rubber bin at a craft show, that cost about 50 cents a piece
 MFT "Cowgirl" (sentiment)
Other - Embossing Powder

Happy Little Stampers - Christmas Challenge July 2015

I am posting this card to HLS Christmas Challenge and I selected this Penny Black tree. First I rubbed/sponged three shades of Distress Ink and then spritzed with water and let it dry completely and then stamped  using VersaMark, and then used white embossing powder. I really like using embossing powder and love the white. The image was then die cut and then  matted with blue cardstock. First I embossed the sentiment with white on the focal image but the sentiment did not show like it does on the tree. I then stamped/embossed on a snippet of blue cs and then attached with mounting tape. I did apply Wink of Stella on the larger snowflakes but they do not show. Lastly I attached the image onto the base card.

Stamps - Penny Black "Snow Dust," SU! Happy Winter (sentiment)
Inks - Distress Ink Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers, Faded Jeans, VersaFine
Paper - Michael's white card stock, SU! Pacific Point
Die Cut - Little Inkers "Stitched Rectangle"

CASology: Week 155 CUPCAKE

It is a happy day in Southern California as we have received some much needed rain. Yesterday my town had just under 1 1/2 inches of rain and it will begin again later today and into tomorrow. I will be busy this week (4 days/nights) babysitting my two grandsons so I am posting a couple of cards before they arrive. Since it will be raining for two of the days we will keep busy playing board games, the mister and Jake (5) play Chess and I will teach Collin (8) Rummy Q. We love Racko but now Collin beats me so I will teach him a new game. Ohhh I am competitive.

I chose this NBUS set from Paper Smooches to make for this challenge. I began by stamping/heat embossing the sentiment. Next I stamped off the cupcake image before applying above "happy." Using two pieces of snippets paper I stamped and heat embossed the cupcake and then paper pieced this image. After assembling the card together I applied Glossy Accents on the pink frosting.

Stamp Set - Paper Smooches "Birthday Bash"
Paper - White card stock (Michael's), snippets
Other - Viva Pearl Pen - Cream, VersaFine, clear embossing powder

CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #132

I have three friends who will have surgery in the next week and this is the last of three cards I am making. . The chick from this PS stamp set is cheerful so I decided it would be cute on a get well card. First I stamped the round image with three different colors and then I stamped and heat embossed the chick three times. Next I chose a piece of decorator card stock (double sided) and cut some pieces for the top and bottom of the card. For the sentiment I chose a smaller circle stamp, and heat embossed and cut with a punch.

Stamps - Paper Smooches "My Peeps" and "Chit Chat"
Simon Says "Favorite Flowers"
Ink - VersaFine, SU!, SU! Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabana, Pistachio Pudding

CASology and Happy Little Stampers

Today I am submitting two cards for two different challenges. This card is for CASology with the cue word of repeat and this is the second card I am submitting for this challenge. Wednesday is our 48th wedding anniversary and typically we do nothing other than go out to eat (which we do numerous times in the course of a week). This will be special as we are taking the train from Carlsbad CA to San Diego about an hours trip. Once there we will go to a well known sea food restaurant for lunch and then a little trip to Blick's Art Supply. For the four years we have lived here I have wanted to take the train to SD but the mister was not interested, so I am happy. This card will be my anniversary card to my mister, not beautiful or romantic but the sentiment is sincere.

Paper - Neenah
Ink - Memento and Copics
Stamp - Unity "Smiley Hearts"
Other - Wink of Stella, Bakers Twine

This is my second card for today and this is for Happy Little Stampers and the theme of "Stamping."

For this card I stamped one image three times with three different colors of ink, a stroke or two of Wink of Stella and then stamped the hummingbird and heat embossed. The sentiment was also stamped and heat embossed. I mounted this design piece  onto a mat, then mounted it onto white card stock and lastly a touch of bling.

Paper - Michael's white card stock,  SU! Crisp Cantaloupe
Stamps - SU! "Work of Art", Michael Strong "Mini Cloisonnne Wings," Unity "Bundle of Care"
Ink - VersaFine, SU! Baja Breeze, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding
Other - embossing powder, mounting tape, bling

CASology: Week 154 REPEAT

There are times when we are in need of specific cards for instance baby, sympathy or masculine. I found this week a need for get well cards for three of my card making ladies, one has had to have surgery on her jaw, another will have back surgery and the third her second knee replacement. So this week I will replenish my get well cards and this is the first one on my list. This is a NBUS stamp from Paper Smooches. I used three of my favorite SU! colors Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive and Taken With Teal and stamped three times (repeat) and then added the sentiment from Stamplorations in black ink. I matted this piece with PP (probably my favorite SU! color, but not in real life), and then attached to the card base. A touch of bling for the finishing touch - just like putting on lipstick.

Stamps - Paper Smooches "Cyber Cafe," Stamplorations "Eat.Drink.Be Merry."
Ink - SU! Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Taken with Teal, Memento
Paper - Michael's white card stock, SU! PP
Other - Michael's bling, mounting tape

Different accent supplies were used Wink of Stella, Glossy Accents, Pearl Pen and a Gelly Roll pen.  I used two pieces of colored snippets and stamped a piece of white card stock for the fish tail. I mounted the image and added some clear crystal.

Happy Little Stampers July Sketch Challenge

In preparing for a craft garage sale I threw this stamp in my bag and then thought "wait, I can use it for HLS sketch challenge" and then I will sell it. I stamped the tree and then heat embossed and colored with SU! pens and for the sky I rubbed SU! bashful blue on my craft mat and then lightly tapped the ink around the tree. The image was matted with SU! gumball green and mounted onto the base card. Lastly I stamped the image which I think suited the child-like tree.

Stamps - Stampendous "Tree Swing," Purple Onion sentiment
Paper - SU! whisper white, gumball green
Ink - VersaFine, SU! markers and ink pad

Addicted to CAS: PATRIOTIC

Oh I love this bear stamp which I have had for at least three years and I found it in a "lovingly used" bin at the stamp store. I heat embossed the bear and colored with copics and mounted on a piece of glittery gold card stock. These pieces were mounted onto the white card base. I added gold stickels and some crystal bling. The sentiment is inside the card and reads, "Happy 4th of July!"

Stamp - Rubberneck (no name, very old)
Paper - Neenah, Michael's gold paper
Ink - VersaFine, Copics
Other - gold Stickels, mounting tape, Michael's bling

Seize the Birthday: Red, White and Blue

For this challenge for  Seize the Birthday I chose an old SU! set. My husband questioned the blue hummingbird but I found it on google, the flowers are similar to what we have in our yard. I stamped on watercolor paper and used distress inks and an aqua brush, The light sky is a stampinwriter and an aqua brush. I matted the image and then attached with mounting tape  onto the embossed cardstock and attached to the blue card stock. The sentiment was stamped with VersaMark and heat embossed.

Stamps - SU! Spring Song, PPI Communique Curves
Paper - watercolor, SU! real red, not quite navy, whisper white
Embossing Folder - Cuttlebug Script
Other - VersaMark, Versafine, white embossing powder, mounting tape
