QS White Rose Fae finished :)

I have been a bit slow on stitching my HAEDs but now I finally finished my first one! :) On 30th of December 2009 I put the last stitches on my QS White Rose Fae. I stitched her on 25ct Lugana, colour Blush, one over one. If not counting the times I didn't stitch her (I lost my mojo in one point) it took about 5 months. I didn't stitch the backround since I think the light pink fabric looks great as a backround.
She will be a present for my Godmother so I'll try to frame her soon. I already have the frame and the mat waiting.

Tammy's QS White Rose Fae

Hi all! This is my first post so I do hope I'm doing it right. I've been on the waiting list for quite some time & I was going to be Wendy's buddy but at the last minute a spot opened up & voila - here I am. I started this QS White Rose Fae by Nadia Tate back in June & haven't picked it up in the past couple of months. I'm hoping that having the opportunity to post updates in this wonderful blog will keep me motivated. Guess that's enough chit chat for now :o) Until next time, keep on stitching.

Srinity's Intro

Hi!

My name is Sari but everyone knows me as Srinity around the e-world. :)
I am 30 years old and have been married for a year. We had a very small ceremony last year so at the moment I'm planning a church blessing and a wedding party. That is also the reason I don't have time to stitch much before 14th of March but after that I'll be posting new wips. :)

I found HAED about the same time I got married a year a go so my husband has seen my true colours right away! :D I started with Heart of the World by Ruth Sanderson. I love this but I started it on a bad fabric so it is waiting until I decide wether to start it over on a better fabric or continue this one.

Second one is the Storykeeper SK from Selina Fenech. I am planning on getting her finished during the ufo/swip sal this year.

I am also stitching the QS White Rose Fae as a wedding present to my aunt and her husband. They are already married so I hope to get this ready for their first wedding anniversary. Not much left so I just need to find the spark to stitch her. :)

I am also taking part at the SAL 2009 with Day dreaming. I'll post a picture later when I have more to show.

How to Carry Threads
This is really easy...it takes a while to get used to though....and your back will look terrible...this you will have to live with...One thing...You will be working your 10 x 10 grids in colums...it makes it easier...
1. Start with a 10 x 10 grid..
2. Find your first symbol...and stitch all of that symbol in your 10 x 10 grid....When finished...
3. Find the same symbol on the 10 x 10 grid below it...take your needle and bring your thread up like you are going to make the first 1/2 of the X ...but don't do it...just unthread your needle and lay the thread down..
4. Go back to the first grid you were working on...and stitch the next symbol the same way....when finished bring your thread down....
5. continue each symbol until your first 10 x 10 grid is finished....
6. start the next 10 x 10 grid ....you should have thread there already for you to pick up and stitch...

Tent stitch variants
There are three types of tent stitch, all producing the same appearance on the front of the canvas but each worked in a slightly different way and having particular characteristics, uses, benefits and drawbacks. These variants of tent stitch are known as basketweave, continental and half cross tent stitches:
Basketweave tent stitch - The basketweave form of tent stitch is worked in diagonal rows up and down the canvas. The yarn on the back of the canvas has a typical basketweave appearance, with alternating horizontal and vertical stitches. Basketweave is the best stitch to use for covering large areas of canvas as it does not distort the canvas as the other two forms of tent stitch do.
Continental tent stitch - Continental stitch is worked horizontally or vertically across the canvas. On the back of the work, the stitches appear diagonally across two threads. This method uses more yarn than half cross stitch tent stitch but is more hardwearing.
Half cross tent stitch - Half cross stitch is worked horizontally or vertically across the canvas. On the back of the work, the stitch appears vertical or horizontal, not diagonal, and crosses only one thread. This method uses less yarn than other stitches but is not very durable as coverage on the back of the canvas is a little thin.
