A Finish!!!!

Quick Stitch White Cat

I haven't done any stitching at all for about four months but recently picked this piece up again as I wanted to finish it by October. It literally took me under three weeks to totally finish it and I put in my final stitch on 9 August.

Here is my last progress pic

and here is my finish.

Stitched on 28 count white evenweave Jobelan
Started 9 April 2009
Finished 9 August 2010

The picture doesn't do it justice, it really is beautiful even though I say it myself lol. I started this piece in remembrance of my white cat Lily who went missing - it is just so like her. I never thought it would look as lovely as it does and can't wait to have it framed and put on display. It is one of those pictures that follows you around the room and I am so pleased I have finally finished it as it has taken me far to long to complete.

This has also given me my stitching mojo back and the very next day I ordered QS Red Witch by Linda Ravenscroft and started stitching straight away. I first saw the full version of this piece on this blog and I liked it more each time I saw it.

Here is how it will look

I am stitching this on Polstitches hand-dyed Pearl 28 count Jobelen 2 over 2. Here is my progress so far.

QS White Cat (12 March)

It has been a little while since I have posted my progress as I have been concentrating on finishing a few of my other projects and managed to complete three during February but I then treated myself to two new starts! My progress has been slow due to the fact that I had a huge block of confetti stitches which seemed to take me forever but once I passed that block progress has speeded up a little and you can just about make out one of her little paws starting to show.

Here are my before and after pics

Happy stitching everyone!

QS White Cat 7/1/2010

Happy New Year everyone - I can see from the number of posts that there has been a lot of stitching being done lately! I have made good progress with my QS White Cat and am now itching to finish it. It is soooo tempting to complete her face and I'm really struggling not to start but even more determined not to! Here are my before and after pics.

Before

After (bit of a rubbish pic - sorry!)

I have also restarted my HAED Cats as I just could not manage to stitch on 25ct as my eyesight is so bad! I am now using white 28 count cashel linen and even though the fabric is massive I'm doing much better. Here is a pic of the design together with my first progress pic. I know that it will be a long time before it starts to actually look like anything but the main thing is that I am now enjoying stitching it.

QS White Cat (31/12/09)

My last post for 2009! Although I have been joining in with the SAL I just haven't got around to posting my progress but I was determined to show my work for 2009. Here are the before and after pics and I must say I'm really pleased with how it's looking. In 2010 I will be restarting my HAED Cats on a different fabric and have everything ready and waiting.

I hope you all had a great Christmas and I wish you a very Happy New Year for 2010. Special thanks to Wendy and Cindy for starting this blog and for Louanne for taking over from them. I for one look forward to becoming a more active member of this group and offering any support I can to help.

See you all next year!!!!

QS White Cat (3/12/09)

Just a quick post of my progress for you. I have not had very good internet connections for the last few weeks so have been unable to post but this is how my work looked last week. Since then I have completed all the confetti stitches on both the right and left hand side of the picture which took ages. I'm now working on the right hand side and have done over a 1000 stitches so far so next Thursday you should see a big difference. Now that this is coming to life I can't put it down and it's the only thing I'm stitching on at the moment.I won't be doing a happy dance this year but am aiming for an early 2010 finish.

Hope you like it. Happy stitching everyone :)

QS White Cat (12/11/09)

I spy with my little eye......quite a bit of stitching done since my last update! It's been a while since I posted as there wasn't really a lot to show, I was stitching lots of different colours of just a small number of stitches so it didn't really look like anything but now I have taken the fabric off my q-snap and looked at it from a distance it's quite clear to see there has been huge progress. I had intended to leave her facial features until last but an eye just appeared from nowhere. I'm now going to have to use every ounce of will power to work DOWN the chart and not straight across which would bring in her face.

Here are my before and after pics:-

Fantastic stitching being done by everyone, well done !!

QS White Cat (1/10/09)

Last week I set myself a goal and actually achieved it! I've not had a lot of time to stitch this week but have managed to almost complete the unstitched block of fabric apart from a few confetti stitches and have now moved on to a new section. I think I've completed about a third of the chart so far. Here are my before and after pics.

Happy stitching - I'm looking forward to meeting our new "buddies" and seeing their work which I'm sure is going to be fantastic :)

QS White Cat (24/09/09)

I've managed to have another good week working on this project as well as managing to make noticeable progress on some of my other WIPs despite having to have worked every day this week so I'm a happy bunny. I was told when I first starting a HAED project that initially I would not "see" a picture but now things are starting to suddenly come into view. The castle is almost complete and the hills in the background are starting to show. I've just noticed that the colouring around the eye is forming and if you look closely the "spikes" on the yellow under the castle are her ruffle. I hope I have another good week next week and complete the unstitched block of fabric and start a new section.

Here's a pic:-

I hope you are all enjoying your stitching as much as I am, thre is fantastic progress being made in the group along with many new starts. I've not finished one yet and I already have a few lined up!

QS White Cat (17 Sept 09)

Although I didn't post last week as I spent a lovely week away with my partner and our two dogs I did take my stitching with me and managed to do a little. I had quite a good stitching day on Thursday and it wasn't until I took the fabric off my Q-snap that I could see the full effect and it's really pleasing to see the fabric come alive as the picture grows. I still think I will stick to my original plan and leave the facial features of the cat until last. This is how it looked Thursday -

I've also been stitching on this over the weekend and next week I hope to have a lot more to show.

Monday I had a little "shopping spree" and have bought the fabric ready to restart my Cats in the New year. I decided to buy 28 count white cashel linen and I know this will be huge (approx 16" x 32") if I start to save for the framers now I should have enough by the time it's finished which will be in quite a few years time!

After reading a recent post by Louanne where she mentioned the work of Linda Ravenscroft I just coudn't resist this chart

but the problem is there are a set of four so maybe I will have to make another purchase very soon :) If anyone has done any of these I would love to see the pics or if they are on your list of new starts please let me know and maybe we could start together.

It's a lovely day here in the UK so I'm going to sit outside and stitch. Happy stitching.

QS White Cat

I can't believe it has been 3 months since I've last posted so firstly I would like to apologise for my lack of participation in the group. Even though I have done hardly any stitching for weeks - well months really - I've been checking the progress of those of you who have been posting and have seen some wonderful finishes and work being done so well done everyone. I think I got a bit misheartened when one of my other projects (Ink Circles Cirque des Triangles) went haywire and I had to unpick weeks of work and restart due to my own stupidity. A mistake I won't make a second time - have a look at my blog.

This Sunday I had a day to myself so I picked up my QS White Cat and managed to make good progress so at long last I feel I have something worth sharing. Now I can't seem to put it down which was what happened previously so I've decided this will be my main project over the next few weeks.

Here are my before and after pics:-

I have been pondering over what to do with my other HAED project "Cats" as I was really struggling stitching on 25 count fabric. I'm afraid my eyesight is just not good enough and I was not enjoying stitching on this fabric. As I really don't want this to become a UFO I have tried out a few other fabrics starting with 40 count then 32 count but have finaly decided that I am most comfortable with a 28 count fabric so next time I go "shopping for stash" I will buy a new piece of fabric and am going to make this my new start for 2010 (less than 3 months away - it's frightening how time goes by).

I won't be posting next week as I am going on holiday but I will be taking my stitching with me and hope to have something to share with you next time.

QS White Cat

I seem to have had hardly anytime for stitching lately and after making such good progress with this chart it felt as if I had come to a sudden stop but I am pleased to say I have finally completed page one :)

Here is a pic for you.

This Thursday I hope to stitch on my other HAED which is Cats as I have not picked this up in weeks!

Well done to everyone who has finished their project there is some lovely work being done by you all.

QS White Cat (30 April)

Not very much progress this week as after deciding to concentrate on finishing page 1 I discovered I was missing a thread and was unsure of the correct thread to use. After an email to Michele at HAED and a very quick response I found I could either use a DMC pearlescent thread or a Kreinik #4. I had ordered the DMC thread online but then decided to order the Kreinik #4. I had to wait - impatiently for a few days - for them both to arrive so that I could compare them. As this thread is for the face of the cat I wanted to make sure I got it right and in the end I decided to use the Kreinik #4 which is a nicer colour and much easier to use as I only need one strand instead of 2 in DMC. Have I lost you yet? I was disappointed that I didn’t have time to finish the page but hopefully I should be able to post this next week.

I have also decided to stitch the facial features last so that the project “comes to life” at the last minute. I should be able to do this if I make sure I carefully grid the fabric and check there are no mistakes – any comments or help on this would be appreciated.

Here is my progress for this week.

QS White Cat (23/04/09)

“Ears” what I have done this week! I am enjoying stitching this so much that it’s all I have worked on having recently finished a project and abandoned another until I get a different fabric. I have done over 3000 stitches and have only a few hundred more before I finish the first page. I am missing one colour thread which I have ordered today so hopefully this will come tomorrow. Once I had started stitching the “ear” I just had to carry on with it – you know how it goes…just one more block …then a new colour…I’ll just fill in this gap !

Next week I hope to show the first page completed and also some progress on HAED Cats.

I enjoy reading your comments they are very encouraging so thank you.

Happy stitching.

QS White Cat (16 April)

I had a really good day on Thursday working on QS White Cat and I'm really pleased with the progress I made. It is starting to take shape nicely and I am really enjoying stitching it - I can hardly put it down! Here is a pic of where I am at now - just over 1700 stitches.

HAED White Cat

Having recently finished a project and having some spare time I also made good progress with White Cats. When I first saw the size of this design and how fine the fabric I think I was a bit frightened by it! But now having got used to it I'm really enjoying this too. Here's what I've done so far (approx 1300 stitches).

Thank you for your comments on my work I really do appreciate it.

HAED Cats - Week 2

A very late post for last Thursday as I have been without internet connection. I have made a little progress on Cats and for those you have left comments, thank you -I am attaching a pic of the design for you.

As the stitches are so small on this project I have to really concentrate and have peace and quiet to stitch so having recently finished a project I was working on I decided to make a new start on

QS White Cat

This reminds me so much of my cat Lily who went missing in October last year that I have decided to stitch this also - I call it my "Queen Lily" project. Here are a few pics of what it should look like when finished and what I have done so far.

Well it's Thursday so off I go to work on my Cats. I look forward to catching up on everyone's progress this week.
