nearly a finish

At last the top of her head reached. Now back with the hair ribbon. Take away some stitches that I've made too much at the bottom. And it will be be ready this year. I look forward to do something else.

First Rose, Christensen

I finished half of the face. It is a spectacular sight. The photo was taken a bit from the bottom, so it seems a little out of proportion. I am satisfied with the face. I hope to have it ready in November so I can go back to the Christmas stocking. And the Medusa is lonely.
It is wonderful autumn weather. The leaves change color nicely. And storms roar around the house. Lovely stitching weather.

First Rose Christensen

The lower half of the face is finished. Now I begin at the rest of the nose, and I think that the eyes also appear. Now I see the picture, I think I'm take away the brown crosses in her neck.In the original, of course, is the transition to the background. But now it is not beautiful. Some stitches under her nose I go take away to. But I do so only when she is done, when I have a good overview.

The First Rose. JC. Christensen

I looked at all the updates. Its tremendous what everybody has reached.
So, after all the fatigues of the holiday, I started stitching again.
I have now begun at the fun part of The Rose. Her neck and face.
This morning I still spent time in the garden. What a mess it was there. After the rain and the storms. The grass was too long. And many flowers aborted. It's a little neat now.

First Rose, Christensen

I have quite a bit done in the evenings. It is very tedious work all that green. However, the sleeve is almost done. It runs from now skewed upward. To the shoulder. Then will come the best part I think. The neck and head.

First Rose, Christensen

The most green I've now had. One page up with a piece of sleeve. And still the elbow. Then I begin the best part. Her face and her hair. I think I finish her first. Although I like the Medusa too. But I'm looking forward to finish her this Christmas. I may be not just like my father, he makes almost two a year. He does think one project forward but two.

First Rose

What a month. Nice weather, lots been outside, Sanne sick, and at last holidays. So now only an update of the First Rose. About time too. I think the hand is very beautiful looking. It shows that it is a high work. It is difficult to figure out what color the background you should not stitch. Of course I had when I bought it, do without any background. But I forgot. Since I have vacation now, and next week it is July 1st, there will still be a finger done, but that's all I think.
Sanne is recovering, just a pain setback yesterday. We just drive to the optician was. Her glasses were off balance. Still of the accident. And it hurt on her nose. Now she can see things right. Her embroidery is close at hand. I think that she have a couple of stitches to do.
Everybody has beautiful work. some are just stunning, the bee and the sunflower ! I love always the details of work. I know how much work the details are. Snow White and Gaudi, Gothic Rose, Dragon Fly and Good book, Dragon knot,Emerald Dragon, and many more !!!!  Good Job stitching Friends...

The First Rose, Christensen.

Wow, the month of April was so beautiful that I only did1.5 pages of The First Rose. We did a lot of motorcycling. Looked at the Tulips in the west and sat on a terrace in Maastricht in the South. And been underground in Maastricht caves. Luckily I had my motorcycle jacket on. We had no cold. In June I will go further again with The Rose. Then comes out the front of the dress. The day after tomorrow is Queensday. And on May 1st I'll continue with the Medusa. Situated on the weather, of how many I do in May.
Everybody has great projects on there hands. !!

First Rose, Christensen

It took a while to give an update. But there was much in between.

Tomorrow  February is over. It's time for the Medusa to get out. March is the month dedicated to black and brown. A bit different than all that beautiful green.  But I like the Medusa from Williams very much so it is no pain to do the dark colors.

First Rose from Christensen

Finally a page done. It's so slow on the frame. But with this fabric, it is beautiful. Its a Belfast linnen. February is not over yet so I'm going to start the second page. The crackle effect of the dress is good to see. I am working with 16 different shades of green. You become totally spinning from when you look at it.

First Rose and The Astronomer Restart

Hello all my stitching friends! I was not able to post an update the last two weeks because of problems with my computer. It is feeling cooperative this morning, so I better make a post now!

Two weeks ago, I worked on First Rose. Here are before and after pics:

Last week I received my new 28ct Lavendar Lugana and restarted The Astronomer. I am much happier with this color! I didn't get far because he had to share the week with a nonHAED, Cirque des Cercles.
Looking forward to all of your updates!

First Rose

Here are the before and afters of First Rose for this last week:

I have decided to restart The Astronomer :-(. I love the pattern, had to immediately buy it, but everytime I pick it up I feel less than enthusiastic. I finally figured out why. It's the color of the fabric. I choose Ivory, as oppossed to the Cream for Aurora's Garden and Ash Rose for First Rose, because I wasn't planning on letting any of it show when it's framed. But it is so drab and dingy. It makes the whole piece feel washed out, not like the rich colors it has. I'm going to order Lavender istead. I know this is extremely picky and borders on absurd, but I'm no longer enjoying the piece that needs years of TLC.
Happy stitching to all this week!

I've Been a Naughty Stitcher

It's true, but here are my reasons (excuses)!

1. In this bad economy, I'm just doing my part to keep a mom and pop business afloat.
2. I got it on sale, 30% off!
3. It will keep me busy and off the streets for years to come for a small price.
4. My livingroom is big enough.
5. I'm addicted, I can't help it, it's my only vice

Yes, I have a new start! This is First Rose by James C. Christensen. I started it for the Thursday SAL. It's on 25ct Ash Rose lugana, 1x1, full crosses. I *believe* I started on the left side of her hair, on the bun just above the green ribbon. I say believe because I had no where to spread out the 65 (large print) pages to find a beginning other than background.

Now if only I could commit to one and really make some progress instead of stitching a little on this and a little on that!
