Update Complete

I think the blog update is done. Please check the links on the right and make sure that your name is linked properly to your blog or web page (if you have one). Look around, and if you find anything out of place, let me know. We still have 3 outstanding invitations, I resent the invites again just this morning. We currently have 64 authors. So I am happy to announce that membership is once again open!

I'd like to thank you all for being so patient with me throughout this process.

One More Cleanup Note

It's going to take me a while to get the side bars all straightened out. Update the HAED Stitchers and the Buddies and such. So don't fret over any of that stuff over there on the side, just yet.....

Clean Up Update

Just wanted to do a quick post to let you know that I have begun to delete authors from the blog. Any email address from which I did not receive a response, or any that responded in the negative has been deleted. If you find anything in error (you think you should still have acces to post and don't), please email me right away.
Now I will begin going through the waiting list and the buddy list to make all authors with full access.

Roll Call Results

Just thought I'd post and give you all an update. I've got a list and I will check it twice.

Not counting myself there are currently 96 people able to post here. I've gotten a total of 58 responses to my email. 48 wish to stay on, and 10 are willing to give up their spot for other stitchers. That leaves 38 people that haven't responded. The way I see it, they give up their spots by default (and in accordance with the wording of my original email). If the list is correct we will have opened up 51 slots! That should be enough to accommodate all of the people on our waiting list!

Just to be sure, I'll post the list of the people that want to stay below. If you are an author here and want to stay, but don't see your name below, you must email me. Here's the list in alphabetical order:

I'm Doing a Roll Call

I've sent out an email to every single member of the blog, except buddies. So if you are a regular member and you haven't received an email from me today then your email addy is incorrect here at the blog, please correct it and send me an email with your updated information.

Just to make sure that everyone is aware, here is the substance of the email:

You may have noticed that we have less traffic then we used to. In the interest of our readers and the many stitchers that are on the waiting list to become members, I'd like to take a roll call.

If you are interested in remaining an active and regular contributor to the blog, please respond to me via email. Include your blog name and your real name (first name only is fine).

Please respond by next Friday, Sept. 10th. I will begin to remove anyone that hasn’t responded next weekend.

How to Carry Threads
This is really easy...it takes a while to get used to though....and your back will look terrible...this you will have to live with...One thing...You will be working your 10 x 10 grids in colums...it makes it easier...
1. Start with a 10 x 10 grid..
2. Find your first symbol...and stitch all of that symbol in your 10 x 10 grid....When finished...
3. Find the same symbol on the 10 x 10 grid below it...take your needle and bring your thread up like you are going to make the first 1/2 of the X ...but don't do it...just unthread your needle and lay the thread down..
4. Go back to the first grid you were working on...and stitch the next symbol the same way....when finished bring your thread down....
5. continue each symbol until your first 10 x 10 grid is finished....
6. start the next 10 x 10 grid ....you should have thread there already for you to pick up and stitch...

Tent stitch variants
There are three types of tent stitch, all producing the same appearance on the front of the canvas but each worked in a slightly different way and having particular characteristics, uses, benefits and drawbacks. These variants of tent stitch are known as basketweave, continental and half cross tent stitches:
Basketweave tent stitch - The basketweave form of tent stitch is worked in diagonal rows up and down the canvas. The yarn on the back of the canvas has a typical basketweave appearance, with alternating horizontal and vertical stitches. Basketweave is the best stitch to use for covering large areas of canvas as it does not distort the canvas as the other two forms of tent stitch do.
Continental tent stitch - Continental stitch is worked horizontally or vertically across the canvas. On the back of the work, the stitches appear diagonally across two threads. This method uses more yarn than half cross stitch tent stitch but is more hardwearing.
Half cross tent stitch - Half cross stitch is worked horizontally or vertically across the canvas. On the back of the work, the stitch appears vertical or horizontal, not diagonal, and crosses only one thread. This method uses less yarn than other stitches but is not very durable as coverage on the back of the canvas is a little thin.
