Roses almost complete

I have almost completed the last rose in my little maiden's hair. It took such a long time because of all the confetti. I know that is what gives it the lovely look but still . . . a LOT of confetti!! Here is what she looks like right now.

Update of Fairy Tales from Chrizette in South Africa

Hi again

It has been ages since I have updated my stitching and quite some time since I stitched. But this past weekend, I took out my cross stitching stash again and found Fairy Tales. I spent the whole weekend stitching and watching old movies - what fun!!

Fragile Heart - update (SAL) by Chrizette

I am taking part in the HEAD SAL and am having a wonderful time. I decided to stitch Fragile Heart and the picture above shows what she will look like.

I had to do a little bit of frogging this week but I made up for it by almost completing all of the black on page 1, only a few more rows to go.

I have still not received my color threads that I have ordered almost two months ago. I am worried and confused. I am receiving other packages but just not cross stitching packages. Come on Mr Postman!

Fairy Tales UPDATE FROM CHRIZETTE

Hi Everyone, here is my latest update for Fairy Tales – I haven’t been stitching much lately because I have re-discovered my reading love and I am spending lots of time in the fantasy worlds of books. But I do still put in a few stitches here and there. I still LOVE my HAED and it is the only one I stitch on at the moment. And off course I visit this blog almost daily : )

Fairy Tales updated

I have stitched some more on Fairy Tales - she is the only one I am stitching on at the moment, the only one I want to stitch. All the other patterns will just have to wait for a little while longer - I just love working on her. I decided to take out the little patch on her forehead and I feel much happier with it at the moment - will have to see how I feel after the whole face is finished (hope that two froggings were enough!).

FAIRY TALES – Page 1 completed

Yes, that's right - I can hardly believe it myself . . . page 1 is finished! I am still not happy with the little patch on her forehead but I am waiting till after I finish the right side of her face before I frog it again. I am just going to blend it with the colours beside it. If I don't, it will forever be jumping out at me. Sometimes you just have to do things for peace of mind.

FAIRY TALES SAL UPDATE

FAIRY TALES SAL UPDATE

I finished the face of page 1 and have only a few stitches to go before page 1 will be finished. I am very happy with the results so far except for a few stitches on her forehead.

I have checked and checked and checked again to see if I used the right colour but it keeps on saying DMC 407 everytime I look. :) This is the colour that I used . . . but it seems wrong. It just jumps off the face and hits you in the eye. It looks totally out of place and much too dark for the rest of the face.

Please help - should I change it and if so, to what colour?

Introduction - Fairy Tailes

Hi. My name is Chrizette and thanks to Gabi, I am able to be part of this wonderful blog. I have only started stitching in May this year, so I am still learning but I am already feeling more confident than when I started. I have been stitching on FAIRY TALES for a month now and am almost finished with page 1. I hoped that I would finish this first page this weekend but the confetti stitches have been keeping me a little busy. J

How to Carry Threads
This is really easy...it takes a while to get used to though....and your back will look terrible...this you will have to live with...One thing...You will be working your 10 x 10 grids in colums...it makes it easier...
1. Start with a 10 x 10 grid..
2. Find your first symbol...and stitch all of that symbol in your 10 x 10 grid....When finished...
3. Find the same symbol on the 10 x 10 grid below it...take your needle and bring your thread up like you are going to make the first 1/2 of the X ...but don't do it...just unthread your needle and lay the thread down..
4. Go back to the first grid you were working on...and stitch the next symbol the same way....when finished bring your thread down....
5. continue each symbol until your first 10 x 10 grid is finished....
6. start the next 10 x 10 grid ....you should have thread there already for you to pick up and stitch...

Tent stitch variants
There are three types of tent stitch, all producing the same appearance on the front of the canvas but each worked in a slightly different way and having particular characteristics, uses, benefits and drawbacks. These variants of tent stitch are known as basketweave, continental and half cross tent stitches:
Basketweave tent stitch - The basketweave form of tent stitch is worked in diagonal rows up and down the canvas. The yarn on the back of the canvas has a typical basketweave appearance, with alternating horizontal and vertical stitches. Basketweave is the best stitch to use for covering large areas of canvas as it does not distort the canvas as the other two forms of tent stitch do.
Continental tent stitch - Continental stitch is worked horizontally or vertically across the canvas. On the back of the work, the stitches appear diagonally across two threads. This method uses more yarn than half cross stitch tent stitch but is more hardwearing.
Half cross tent stitch - Half cross stitch is worked horizontally or vertically across the canvas. On the back of the work, the stitch appears vertical or horizontal, not diagonal, and crosses only one thread. This method uses less yarn than other stitches but is not very durable as coverage on the back of the canvas is a little thin.
