Cats (14/1/10)

Here is my progress for week 2 of Cats which I restarted this year. I tend to make working copies of 6 blocks of 100 stitches per A4 sheet and I find this works well for me as the symbols are then quite large and easy to follow plus I feel a little achievement as I move onto the next page. There are 8000 stitches to each page and so far I have stitched up 3000 stitches so it is also an quick way of keeping check on my progress. There are 99,900 stitches in the chart so a long long way to go but a little picture is already starting to emerge.

Next week I will go back to stitching my QS White Cat for a while as I really want her finished soon.

Keep up the good work and happy stitching :)

QS White Cat 7/1/2010

Happy New Year everyone - I can see from the number of posts that there has been a lot of stitching being done lately! I have made good progress with my QS White Cat and am now itching to finish it. It is soooo tempting to complete her face and I'm really struggling not to start but even more determined not to! Here are my before and after pics.

Before

After (bit of a rubbish pic - sorry!)

I have also restarted my HAED Cats as I just could not manage to stitch on 25ct as my eyesight is so bad! I am now using white 28 count cashel linen and even though the fabric is massive I'm doing much better. Here is a pic of the design together with my first progress pic. I know that it will be a long time before it starts to actually look like anything but the main thing is that I am now enjoying stitching it.

QS White Cat

I can't believe it has been 3 months since I've last posted so firstly I would like to apologise for my lack of participation in the group. Even though I have done hardly any stitching for weeks - well months really - I've been checking the progress of those of you who have been posting and have seen some wonderful finishes and work being done so well done everyone. I think I got a bit misheartened when one of my other projects (Ink Circles Cirque des Triangles) went haywire and I had to unpick weeks of work and restart due to my own stupidity. A mistake I won't make a second time - have a look at my blog.

This Sunday I had a day to myself so I picked up my QS White Cat and managed to make good progress so at long last I feel I have something worth sharing. Now I can't seem to put it down which was what happened previously so I've decided this will be my main project over the next few weeks.

Here are my before and after pics:-

I have been pondering over what to do with my other HAED project "Cats" as I was really struggling stitching on 25 count fabric. I'm afraid my eyesight is just not good enough and I was not enjoying stitching on this fabric. As I really don't want this to become a UFO I have tried out a few other fabrics starting with 40 count then 32 count but have finaly decided that I am most comfortable with a 28 count fabric so next time I go "shopping for stash" I will buy a new piece of fabric and am going to make this my new start for 2010 (less than 3 months away - it's frightening how time goes by).

I won't be posting next week as I am going on holiday but I will be taking my stitching with me and hope to have something to share with you next time.

Cats

It's been a long while since I've posted on this project but I have actually managed to get a little more done. The weather has been so lovely here lately that I hardly done any stitching over the last few weeks but if you want to take a look at my other projects have a look here http://totallythreadup.wordpress.com/. Here are the before and after pics for you.

Before

After

It doesn't look a lot but I'm stitching this on 25 count so it's quite difficult but I am determined to carry on with this and try and make significant progress over the next few weeks.

I'm also working on QS White Cat and when I went to stitch on this recently I discovered that I had made an A3 working copy of page 1 but then folded this in half and did a further A3 copy so whereas I thought I had completed one page I've only actually done a half a page! It's a QS so I've completed 1/6th of the chart so I must make some time to do some more on this.

Well done to all of you who are managing to make great progress and posting on your stitching. It must be so satisfying when you make a finish - something I think I've have a long wait to experience :)

QS White Cat (16 April)

I had a really good day on Thursday working on QS White Cat and I'm really pleased with the progress I made. It is starting to take shape nicely and I am really enjoying stitching it - I can hardly put it down! Here is a pic of where I am at now - just over 1700 stitches.

HAED White Cat

Having recently finished a project and having some spare time I also made good progress with White Cats. When I first saw the size of this design and how fine the fabric I think I was a bit frightened by it! But now having got used to it I'm really enjoying this too. Here's what I've done so far (approx 1300 stitches).

Thank you for your comments on my work I really do appreciate it.

HAED Cats - Week 2

A very late post for last Thursday as I have been without internet connection. I have made a little progress on Cats and for those you have left comments, thank you -I am attaching a pic of the design for you.

As the stitches are so small on this project I have to really concentrate and have peace and quiet to stitch so having recently finished a project I was working on I decided to make a new start on

QS White Cat

This reminds me so much of my cat Lily who went missing in October last year that I have decided to stitch this also - I call it my "Queen Lily" project. Here are a few pics of what it should look like when finished and what I have done so far.

Well it's Thursday so off I go to work on my Cats. I look forward to catching up on everyone's progress this week.

Hello from Wales

At long last I am ready to actually join in with Our Friends' HAED SAL. As I am going away for a long weekend this week I stitched a day early just to put a few stitches on the fabric so just a quick post for now to add a pic to show I have actually started! Having never done a HAED before or even used any fabric other than aida this is quite a major project for me. I have only recently discovered there are 99,900 stitches! I am stitching on 25 count evenweave and after a quick practice I have decided to use two strands of thread and just a half stitch (?) as I found a full cross stitch looked too bulky.

I am really enjoying seeing the progress everyone is making and hope to get to know some of you very soon.

Thanks to Wendy and Cindy for their invitation and patience (I'm totally useless at blogging !)
