catching up...

It seems that all I'm doing lately is playing catch up with my blog.  I love having one, I love reading other people's blogs, I'm just getting really lazy when it comes to posting on mine.  Which is quite strange, as I have had lots of crafty goodness going on.

So apologies to all that read my blog, if anyone out there still does that I've been so very neglectful.

Now on to that crafty goodness I was mentioning!

First things first, February's TUSAL... I took my picture at the correct time, the new moon, but obviously I've failed to post it on time.  However, better late than never... here is my February ort report.

I decided that this year I will do my pictures a little differently... I will have my monthly ort jar, as well as my bigger year jar.   As you can see I did much more stitching this last month than the one previously.

I do have a couple of happy dances to show... one crochet and one cross stitch.... I started and finished an infinity scarf for my niece and here she is modeling it.  It is quite large, as it fits around her head 3x's. But she likes it and is happy with it.

My cross stitch finish is the new project I start in January... Tea Break by Jardin Prive.  I change the pinks to blues in mine and made the hearts read. Otherwise it is stitched with the called for  DMC threads and is stitched on 32ct whimsical winter jobelan by Under the Sea fabrics.

Next up I decided to give some of my wips some love... I worked on Autumn Quakers by Rosewood Manor for a week, and here is my updated progress picture of that.

Then I pulled out my Summer Bouquet by Lanarte, and sort of got stuck on that one for a few weeks (3 weeks to be exact) and made great progress.

This week I finally changed projects and as of today am working on my Cornwell Cottage also by Rosewood Manor.  I know that one is supposed to be our Sunday SAL... but sadly, the one year we finally have another person join Barbi and I stitching, life happens and the Sunday SAL went out the window.  I'm sure poor Linda is done hers already!   Anyways I hope to catch up to her soon, and finish it in the near future and then maybe we can all get back on track with a new Sunday SAL project.

Till next time... happy stitching!

old and new year...

Happy New Year to everyone!  I managed to have two more quick little happy dances at the end of December (I can say that now since it is January 1st)... I managed to stitch and finish both Merry One and Merry Two by Plum Street Samplers.
Both very cute and fun stitches.  I am planning on using some of the motifs from both to make into ornaments in the future.

Here they are... both stitched with the called for threads that came with the pattern, with one thread over 2 on 32ct chocolate milk jobelan by Stephanie. One of my favourite fabrics.

Since it is the beginning of a new year, it is also the annual emptying of the ort jar... these are all my orts from Jan 1 - Dec 31, 2015...

Now normally I just throw them out, but I have seen some interesting ideas of how to reuse them in the future...

And also since it is Jan 1... it is time for a new start as well..  I have been starting the last couple of years with a pattern from Jardin Prive, and I kept to that little tradition, which is now going on its 3 year.  I picked Tea Break by Jardin Prive, except I changed the pink tea cups to blue for mine...

Not much to see just yet, just a floss toss...

dancing

I did absolutely no stitching between this past Friday and Monday, with the exception of a whole 4 stitches on Saturday... not something you can call progress...

So I did no stitching on my Conrwall Cottage SAL with Barbi and Linda... Hopefully this Sunday I will be able to get some much needed stitching time on it.

I did however, have a happy dance last night!  I finished off my Winter Patchwork, by Jardin Prive.  It is stitched on 32ct. jobelan, using the called for DMC threads.  It was a fun stitch!  I'm looking forward to the other two I have in the series - Spring and Summer.

Just a short little post... so till next time... happy stitching!

and we are off....

...off to the races so to speak

It's time to dust off the rotation and get back to stitching!  Barbi and I have started our regular Sunday SAL, and this time round we have Linda from SUch is Life joining us!  As they say, the more the merrier!!! Welcome Linda, I know both Barbi and I are looking forward to seeing your progress as well on seeing this beautiful design come to life!

If anyone else wants to join us, please do!  We are stitching Corwell Cottage Sampler by Rosewood Manor Designs.  The only "rule" you need to follow to participate is that you stitch it only on Sundays with us, and show your progress off on your blog.

I am the reason we are starting so late, poor Barbi has been so patient!  I ordered my supplies way too late!  I've had the chart, like Barbi, since it was released, but didn't order my threads till September, when we were planning an original October start....  Little did I know it would take till now to get my threads, as they were constantly on back order!  I'm still waiting for 2 colours to arrive (hopefully any day now), but the good thing is that I have enough to start!

I'm stitching it on a 32ct ivory jobelan, and going out of my comfort zone, instead of starting in the centre, I started in the bottom right hand corner....  Here is how far I got yesterday

I am loving it so far, and already, even though we just started, it will be hard to put down till next Sunday!  This will be a fun stitch for sure!

I've also been working on my winter patchwork by Jardin Prive... it's coming along slowly, but I've also run out of one of the browns...

Now on to my other projects that I will be rotating, hopefully weekly...

Rosewood Manor - Autumn Quakers

Les Grilles de Maryse - Home Sweet Home (SAL 2013)

Lanarte - Summer Bouquet

I am also planning a couple new starts as well... A blackwork project of some sort, a Mirabilia (not sure which one) and a Blackbird Designs pattern (again not sure which one). At least that is the plan!

Till next time... happy stitching!

first finish of the year...

I have my first finish for the year! However, before I show it off I would like to let everyone know of a free SAL that are going on, on Facebook... which I am contemplating on doing sometime this year.

It is made of traditional Hungarian folk motifs, and the colours are so pretty and springy! Perfect to look at, and stitch with all this snow, and still being in the grips of winter and the cold.

It starts officially tomorrow, but I know I will definitely be joining in a little later.  It's pretty all in one, but the various motifs are perfect on their own as well for pinkeeps, ornaments, etc.  So many possibilities with this one.

You can find the facebook page here (click). You will be able to get the pattern here (click) on the host's blog.  The pattern will be available in various languages, including English.  While most of the chat on the facebook page is in Hungarian, please don't let that stop you from joining!  The host does know English, and there are others there who speak English as well.

Now on to my finish... in my last post I mentioned that I was starting a SAL with some online friends for the seasonal patchwork designs by Jardin Prive.... they were on autumn, so that is where I jumped in... Thanks to having bronchitis, and being home from work for 3 days last week, I had plenty of time to stitch in between naps, coughing and tea!  I managed to both start and finish the autumn one.

Here it is!

I stitched it on 32ct ivory joblean, using the called for DMC colours. Started on Jan 6, finished Jan 10, 2014.  I really enjoyed stitching it, the colours are so bright and happy, perfect for when you are feeling under the weather!  Winter is up next, and I am looking forward to it, but for now it's back to business and back to my rotation.

Till next time... happy stitching!

edited to add where you can get the pattern for the SAL
