Liukasta / Slippery

 

Pian on meri jäässä. Meillä rannikolla on ollut lämpöistä ja vain vähän lunta. 

Muualla Suomessa on jo täysi talvi. Tosin nyt (on lähes keskiyö) kun katson ikkunasta ulos, niin lunta sataa ja paljon. Mutta aamulla on luvattu taas vesisadetta. Nyt lämpötila on 0 °C.

The sea will soon be frozen. We have had warm weather on the coast and only a little snow.

Elsewhere in Finland it is already full winter. Even though now (it's almost midnight) when I look out the window, it's snowing and a lot. But in the morning there is again rain forecast. Now it´s 0°C

On liukasta. Jos ja kun hiekoitetaan, niin hiekka uppoaa sään lämmetessä heti jään sisään, 

eikä siitä ole mitään hyötyä. Ei oikein tee mieli mennä kävelylle.

It is slippery. If and when sand is applied, the sand will soon sink into the ice as the weather warms up, and it is of no use. You really don't feel like going for a walk.

Edelleen liukasta / Still slippery

Aurinko paistoi ja ajattelin kävellä rannalle. Mutta enpäs mennykään, 

sillä kaikki jalkatiet oli täysin jäässä. Saa todella kävellä kieli keskellä poskea.

The sun was shining and I thought about walking to the beach. But I didn't go, 

because all the sidewalks were completely slippery. You have to walk slowly and carefully.

Käsi kädessä. Jos toinen liukastuu, niin kaatuu se toinenkin..

Hand in hand. If one slips, the other will fall too..

Hiekka on painunut osittain jään alle, kun välillä on sulaa ja välillä pakastaa.

The sand has partially sunk under the ice, when sometimes it's thawing and sometimes it's freezing.

Minä kaselen ikkunastani tätä rakennustyömaahirvitystä. Näkymä on siis ruskean väristä.

On liukasta ja sohjoa. Tämä on aina odotettavissa runsaan lumen jälkeen. 

Lumisen kauneuden jälkeen tulee ankeus. Lämpötila on nyt +1 °C.

It's slippery and slushy. This is always to be expected after a lot of snow. 

After white winter comes bad weather. Temperature is now +1 °C.

When it gets warmer, the snow becomes heavy, and it has to be shoveled off the roofs.
