Veteenmeno / Going into the water

 

Melkein kuin kesä, paitsi että tänään oli tosi kylmää. Joinakin vuonna tähän aikaan on ollut vielä lunta.

Almost like summer, except today it was really cold. Some years at this time there has been still snow.

Kaksi reipasta ystävätärtäni meni uimaan - kuten lähes joka päivä. Vesi oli n. 3 °C, eli tosi kylmää.

My two dashing friends went swimming - like they do almost every day. 

The water was about 3 °C, which is really cold.

No, itseasiassa he vain kastautuivat. Mutta sekin olisi minulle liikaa.

Well, actually, they were just wetting themselves. But even that would be too much for me.

Aurinkoinen päivä / Sunny day

Oli yksi aurinkoinen päivän monien harmaiden keskellä. 

Meri on jäistä vapaa ja oli ihana tunne, kun näki värejä. 

In the midst of many gray days, there was one sunny day.

The sea is already free of ice and it was a wonderful feeling to see colors.

 

Kirsikan kukkia edelleen / Cherry blossoms again

 

On nämä kirsikan kukat niin ihania, ja kun ne vielä kukkii, niin niin niitä ei voi olla kuvaamatta. 

Ja näitä kun löytyy sieltä täältä.

Cherry blossoms are so lovely, and when they're still blooming, you can't help but take pictures of them.

And these can be found everywhere.

Uimaranta on otettu jo käyttöön. Sää on mitä helteisin.

The swimming beach is already in use.

Suomen Cha-cha-cha tuli toiseksi. Vaikka en yleensä enää katsele Euroviisuja, niin nyt piti valvoa ja katsoa pisteiden annot. Oli jännittävä loppu.

Finland's Cha-cha-cha came second. Although I usually don't watch Eurovision any more, now I had to monitor and watch the points. It was an exciting ending.

Syksyn tullen uimaranta on saanut uudet rannalla nauttijat. Eipä silti, ei tuolla kukaan voi juuri kävellä saati lekotella, sen verran pökäleitä on hiekalla. Hienoja isoja lintuja, vaikka niitä on liikaa.

With the arrival of autumn, the swimming beach has received new guests. Still, no one can walk there, there are so many lumps on the sand. These are great big birds, even though there are too many of them. Well, they're about to fly south.

Viikon varrelta / Throughout the week

 

Uimarannan kahvila laitettiin nurin. Pitäisi tulla uusi - mutta milloin.

The beach cafe was put upside down. Should come a new one - but when.

Paikalle ilmestyi viikolla sininen koppi. Ei taida olla kahvila, sisällä on pukukoppeja. Suuri mysteeri.

A blue booth appeared at the scene during the week. 

There doesn't seem to be a cafe, there are changing rooms inside. The great mystery.

Sävy sävyyn. / Tint to tone.

Eilisen kuvat ovat tänään jo "entisiä". Luonto vihertyy valtavin harppauksin. 

The pictures taken during the week are already "old" today. Nature is greening by huge leaps.

Koivuissa on jo lehdet. / The birches already have leaves.

Keskiyön uinti / Midnight swimming

Lilli ja Leevi oli minulla viikolla yövieraina. Oli hiostavan kuuma päivä (kuten on ollut jo kuukauden ajan), ja lupasin heille myöhemmin yökävelyn ja -uinnin. Pimeetähän ei vielä ollut kun lähdimme n. klo 23.00 liikkeelle, mutta teimme leikkipuiston kautta pitemmän matkan rannalle. Rannalla oli muutama muukin uimari, ja vesi oli kuin hunajaa (kuulemma 29 C). Keskiyön jälkeen olimme kotona, mutta ei tuo uintireissu edesauttanut lasten unensaantiin, sillä sisällä on niin kuuma tuulettimista huolimatta.

This week I got Lill and Leevi as night guests. It was a sweaty hot day (as it has been already for a month), and I promised them a night walk and swim later. After all, it wasn't yet dark when we left home at about 11 pm, but we made a longer trip to the beach through the park. There were a few other swimmers on the beach, and the water was like honey (reportedly 29 C). After midnight we were home, but that swimming trip didn’t help the kids get sleep, because it’s so hot inside despite the air fan.

Päivälämpötilat on olleet uskomattoman korkeita. Tosin yötä myöten tuo laskee liki 20 asteeseen.

The temperatures of the day have been incredibly high. At night, however, the temperature is normally about 20 C.

Huh hellettä / Heat

On tullut oltua päivät uimarannalla Lillin ja Leevin kanssa. Vesi 24-26 C, ilma 30-33 C varjossa. Ei tämä ole ollenkaan kivaa tämä kuumuus. Hetken helpotuksen toi torstainen ukkonen rankkasateineen, joka tiputti lämpötilan kymmenen astetta. Mutta hetkelliseksi se jäi, sillä lisää lämpöä ennustetaan. Kyllä toi 20-22 C olisi ihan sopiva kesälämpö. Kun lämpö nousee sisälläkin 28-30 C. Mutta lapset nauttii, ei tule vilu vedessä. Ihme ettei räpylät kasva varpaiden väliin.

 

It has been days at the beach with Lill and Leevi. Water 24-26 C, air 30-33 C in the shade. This is not at all nice with this exceptional heat. A moment of relief was brought by a thunderstorm on Thursday with heavy rains that dropped the temperature ten degrees. But for a moment it remained because more heat is predicted. 20-22 C would be just the right summer heat. When the heat rises at home to 28-30 C. But the children enjoy, there will be no chills in the water. Miracle that the fins do not grow between the toes.

Vesileikkien aika / Time for water games

Kesä ja helteet saapuivat, ja minusta tuli taas "mummi, joka vie lapset uimaan, kun vanhemmat on töissä".  Koko viikko oli lämmintä, mutta eilen perjantaina merivesi oli huikeat +24 C. Olihan tuo ilmakin varjossa +26 C. Lapset voivat olla vedessä jopa 5 tuntia evästaukoineen, eli just niin kauan kuin minä jaksan olla rannalla.. :)

Summer and the heat came, and I became again "the grandma who takes children a swim because parents are at work". The whole week was hot, but the sea water was yesterday a staggering 24 C. Air was in the shade 26 C. Children can stay in the water up to 5 hours with some lunch breaks, that is, just as long as I'm able to be on the beach .. :)

Välillä minun oli istuttava kahvilan varjon alla.

Sometimes I had to sit under the shade of a cafe.

Lapset olivat pirteitä vielä illallakin, mutta minä olin aina ihan naatti, vaikken tehnyt mitään.

The kids were still cheerful even in the evening, but I was always pretty tired, even though I did nothing.
