Olipas aurinkoinen pääsiäinen. Tein pieniä kävelyitä lähiympäristössä.

Kuoppia, jäätä ja lätäköitä / Pits, ice and puddles

Kotikatuni tietyömaan aiheuttamat kuopat kadulla. Autolla ajaminen on todella hankalaa. 

Kyllä ne välillä näitä täyttää, mutta liikennettä on paljon, ja kuopat ilmestyy pian uudelleen.

Pits on my home street (reason of road construction site). Driving is a bit tricky.

Yes, men sometimes fill them, but there is a lot of traffic, and the pits will soon reappear.

Kamalan kauan kestää tämä rospuuttokausi. Ajotiet sekä isommat jalkakäytävät ovat jo täysin sulat, mutta varjopaikoilla paksu jää ei pääse sulaamaan nopeasti, joten tällaisia esteitä saattaa yllättäen tulla vastaan, jos haluaa poiketa jonnekin sivutielle.

This melting season will last an awful long time. Driveways and larger sidewalks are already completely melted, but in shelters, thick ice does not melt quickly, so such an obstacle may come up unexpectedly if you want to deviate somewhere to the side road.

These were horrible places. Luckily there was snow on the side that I could walk along.

Pakkasta / Freezing

Hitsi, että on kylmää, pakkasta jotain -7, ja yöllä tuplaten. Se ensilumi suli päivässä, mutta nyt on tainnut muutamana yönä sataa ihan pientä lunta. On just sopiva määrä lunta, pikkasen helpottaa siihen pimeyteen.

It's cold, freezing something -7, and doubling at night. That first snow melted in a day, but in a few nights there has been a little snowfall, so the earth looks white, just right, that the darkness is not so great.

Kotikadun putkiremppakin edistyy pikkuhiljaa.

The pipe renovation of my home street is progressing little by little.

Meillä rakennetaan / We are building 2

Kotikatuni toisessa päässä, jonne Metroasemakin rakennetaan, on ollut talvesta lähtien tietyöt käynnissä, mitä lie maan alle laitetaankaan. Aikanaan tuo matala valkoinen talo puretaan ja tilalle tulee 22-kerroksinen tornitalo. Kivenlahdessa on nyt n. 8000 asukasta, mutta suunnitteilla on nostaa määrä n. 25000 asukkaaksi vuoteen 2050 mennessä.

At the other end of my home street, where the Metro station also comes, street work has been going on since the winter, something is done there underground. In time, the low white house will be demolished and replaced by a 22-storeys tower house. Now Kivenlahti has about 8000 inhabitants, but there are plans to increase the number about to 25000 by 2050.
