The Last Day in 2014

Then, I guess, a lot of us like to think back - about what really happend with 2014?  Did 2014 turn out to be what you expected? Did you do the right moves?  Well, 2014 turned out to be a good year for me - nothing big happend - but I am a year older and wiser...I think.

I have learned some about DNA - I have a lot more to learn - it is very complexed subject.  Today I have DNA samples from my Grandmother Mimi - my Grandfather Einar and from my Grandmother Agnes Dorthea. I have not been able to "find" a DNA person - to collect DNA from my Grandfather Simon Andreas. Too bad.  One day I might...

Let me introduce you to my Grandfather Simon Andreas Johansson - born 14.th of April 1898 in Elverum  - died 13.th of December 1969 in Flisa.  This picture is taken at Solheim in Kaffegata - in the backyard of my Grandfathers store - in May month in 1941 - and I think it is my Grandmother Agnes Dorthea who took the picture.

You see the birches to the left and right?  Well those - among plenty others - were The Avenue - The Birch Avenue - The Kaffegata.  On the opposite side of the street - there was nothing - not a house  - not a building in 1941.  Like this;

My Grandfather were born into a Methodist home.  Therefor - he is not written down in churchbooks from Elverum. Luckily - my grandfather collected "all" papers from his parents home - and my mother is a collector too - lucky me!

This is a baptist certificate from the Methodischurch in Hamar - and my Grandfathers younger sister, Ester.

I wish you all a happy and exciting New Year in 2015.  I took this picture this morning - it says that 2015 will bring a lot of light - a lot of warmth - and a lot of new questions about DNA and genealogy - in general - but also toward my ancestors.  And I will embrace that - besides my family - my work - genealogy is the third best "thing" that I love.  Enjoy your life...

The First Friday in August

Hello
This Friday is a little bit different than the others Fridays.  It's raining and it's grey weather outside - thats not unusually in August. It's De Nordiske Jakt og Fiskedagene in Elverum...it's Festspillene in Elverum...and it's Landsskytterstevet in Elverum...and one more thing...it's Elverumsdagene in Elverum.  It happens in Elverum, Sør Østerdalen - Good Luck!

I want to Congratulate
Karen Halvorsdaughter Skjærbekken Løvhaugen 1824 Nordre Osen
She was married to my Great Great Great Grandmother Siris brother Christen.  They had nine children together.  Christen died and Karen married Nils Gudmundson Løvhaugen from Elverum.  They have no children.  They emmigrated to The Promised Land in 1887...I wonder what happend to Karen?

Today my father - Ola-Martin Einarson - would have been 80 years old.
That makes this Friday a little bit different.

This colorful oildraft is one in a million that my father has done.  He was a creative soul.  Doing a lot of crafts.
Have a beautiful Fridag, thank you for visiting my blog and do not forget to enjoy...life!

4th. of August

Hi
It's been a wonderful and sunny day here at Stangelandet today!  We had a long bbq dinner at my porch.  Now Nichlasen and Varg are having a good and long stroll - and I'm sitting in my green room writing this!

Today I want to Congratulate
Johannes Johansen 1896 Elverum
He was an older brother to my Grandfather Simon Andreas.  Johannes died of appendicitis only 22 years old.  This is Johannes in his uniform, he was a sergeant in The Norwegian Army.

Have a nice Wednesday, thank you for visiting and don't forget to enjoy...

FØRSTE FREDAG JANUAR

Scrapbook Express - the pink forum - had
"half holidays" scrapbooking relay race
arranged by Ruffa

I always do the relay races, al though I'm a very slow scrapper. This picture is taken by a photographer in Elverum. The Holter family has a lot of familygroup pictures.
And I am - one lucky girl - having them all

We had to redo a sketch of Ingvild Bolme She is just marvellous with flowers. Im not.
We had to start with white cardboard and the paper should be in only one color.
I used The Wonderland Collection from Cosmo Cricket. I love their papers.
The swirvls! are from Inkadinkado - they are so fragile! Embossed in white.
The flowers are covered with clear and golden embossing - having made some retro flowers in The Wonderland Paper. The pinebranches are made by a lovely McGill punch Covered with clear stickles from Ranger I also used some Prima Bouquet Flowers painted in Cranberry color with Acrylic Paint Dabber from Adirondack The letters are Maddie from QuicKutz painted in Cranberry color too. I've inked all parts with my best scrap friend; Versafine Vintage Sepia.
Thank you for beeing with me to the end - have a wonderful Evening!
