I plant stuff in WHAT???

As I sit here and look out my dining room window that looks out onto our deck, it is 27 degrees and yet the sun is out teasing me of warmer temperatures to come! Come warm weather I load up our deck with all sorts of plants and flowers planted in all sorts of different containers. Since it's still to cold to start, I have been cruising the Pinterst highway to get inspired and keep  me satisfied till I can get my hands dirty!!
Take a look at some of these beauties I found recently!!!

LOVE LOVE LOVE rusty buckets!!!

These are campanulas. Georgeous in these metal drawers!!

I always have a few of these old galvanized tubs.

Never used an old crate before...think I am going to have to try this !

I have an old bike just waiting to be planted this year! Super excited about that one!!

Old tool totes always look great!

And this is the reason I am on the hunt for more old watering cans!!!
I sure am ready to get started.
Come on warmer weather!!!
Please!!

Just a piece of JUNK.....

That's what the guy said when I asked him what it was and how much was it. I instantly fell in love with the rusty, crusty texture and the shape. Can you guess what it is??? Think ~ Think~ Think.....AN OLD SWIVEL STOOL BASE! I know...go figure...way cool! My first thought was that it would make a great cloche. Couldn't wait to get it up to the booth at The Depot and see how it would look. I was giddy happy with the outcome. (It doesn't take much). I love how it looks with the herbs but possibitlites are "thru da roof" on what you can put underneath it!
The same guy also had this little old fry basket ( at this point I think he is starting to feel sorry for be because all his other stuff was big ticket crystal chandeliers and I couldn't even afford a single drop crystal ...PRICEY but beautiful!) anyway I flipped my lid ' on this cuz I thought it would make a fab napkin holder. The handle moves, so it will keep the napkins nice and snug in there. So I bought his two trashiest pieces and LOVE them both!

Some of you aren't going to like this last picture.....ESPICIALLY all my friends toughing out the Noreaster going on up north....OR maybe JUST MAYBE this is the little "sign of hope" to help get you thru. I'd like to introduce you the first Daffodil of the season. She arrived yesterday out by my birdfeeder and was out in all her glory this morning soakin up the sun.

Her message is simple........PATIENCE MY FRIENDS, SPRING IS ON IT'S WAY!

THE FARM...............

It feels soooo good to be home! I guess you could also say , it FELT sooo good to BE home! While I was in Ohio at mom and dads I took some pictures to share with you all of where I grew up. The following pictures are of the farm. I will break this up into two posts and share with you the vineyard pictures in part two................... Here's the old farmhouse. She's well over 100 years old but you'd never know it! She don't look a day over 50. She got a facelift (shhhh don't tell ) when she got her vinyl siding put on. The sign in the front says Virant Farm. My brother and I got that for mom and dad a few years ago. My bedroom was on the left on the second story.

I love our old barn. The loft is HUGE and filled with tons of garage sale stuff mom wants to get rid of! Anyone want to plan a trip up to Ohio??? I can hear everybody flipping their calendar pages now!! LOL! The lean-to off the side was a later addition and is used as the wood shed. Mom and Dad have always heated the whole house with a Yotel wood stove located in the kitchen.
The greenhouse is great for mom to put her plants into when winter gets here.

This garden is in the back of the house and is filled with herbs and roses...beautiful!

This is a little peek at the vineyard from the backyard of the house. See the red tool shed??? Well the rows of green beyond that are the grapes. Can you believe that there used to be an adorable outhouse to the left of the shed and Dad pushed it over...ON PURPOSE!! Mom about had a fit...so did I!! Anyway, I always love being at the farm and walking around the gardens. That is definitly one thing that I REALLY miss here in North Carolina is the Ohio soil. All the flowers up there get so big and beautiful and lush and here the soil is so red and crappy and hard. The flowers just don't grow the same and it breaks my heart a bit. Well I hope you enjoyed the tour of the olde homestead. I'll post part 2 in a few days! I missed you all while I was gone...it's good to be home!

MY GOOD OLE AMERICAN FRONT PORCH!

Well yesterday was it...I hauled out my red white and blue flag bunting and draped the porch! It always puts me in a good mood when I am decorating the porch...espicially in the summer when the flowers are out and everything looks so green and vibrant and HAPPY! I am ADDICTED TO SWEET POTATOE VINE AND BACOPA!! They always put on a great show!

I just planted the fancy coleus today...got 10 4 inch pots for only .50 each! Hopefully they will come along..they are frilly and so colorful..............

There is just something about RED! It just brightens up everything...even my mood sometimes. These are three of my favs....old watering can, crock and bucket...........

A garden just isn't complete without a bee skep...I am in LOVE with these too! This one is gradually starting to bite the dust BUT to help it last a bit longer, I painted it white (dry brush) and sprayed it with a coat of poly. Hopefully I can have it for another summer.

What's on your front porch??????? Have a great day!! :0)
