I just had to share this.... It's just too cute to keep to myself.

Abby ~ "Hey mom, Who's this guy?"
Me ~ "That's Thomas Jefferson"

Abby ~ "What do you think he's writing about?"
Me ~ "I'm not sure, maybe he's writing about how much he likes Williamsburg."

Abby ~ "Hey, I can stick my finger up his nose!"
Me ~ "Nice!"

Chatting with Tom...

and then, the best part of all.....

Boo!

I know, I know ... Halloween already? Well, for those of you who like to get a jump on things check this one out! This is one of the Sewing Kits that I am doing with Linda of Allegro Fabrics. It's "Phoebe" all decked out in these adorable Halloween prints. I can't tell you how much fun this sweet little jumper is to make. The entire time I was sewing it up all I did was smile. So many fun prints and the colors are "spook-tacular", Okay now even I am getting corny! Abby and I had so much fun taking these pictures yesterday she didn't even mind that she was wearing a long sleeved shirt, tights and boots in the sweltering temps. It was even her idea to go to a cemetery to take the photos when I asked her "where we could take some creepy pictures?". She loved it! We even took time out to do a little school by practicing her reading and doing a little math. 7 is such a great age, Abby was so full of questions about life and death and heaven so we talked about it a lot. After our trip to the cemetery we went down to the river to cool off and stick out toes in the cool water and of course I took more pictures but more of those later. This kit, along with all the others will become available very soon. So, keep a close watch. I think this one may be very popular! Oh, I almost forgot to mention that adorable bracelet. I asked a dear friend of mine, Pam from PSB to create a few jewelry pieces for me to go with some of the outfits. Isn't it crazy adorable? We love this little charm bracelet with matching charms that go with the dress perfectly. If you are interested in finding out more about these custom jewelry pieces please email me and I will put you in touch with her. She does beautiful work and I hope to showcase more of her pieces here to help get the word out about her.

A Picnic At The Winery

Today Abby and I braved the insane heat and went out for a little while to snap a few photos at her request....In fact, this morning she said "Mommy, we haven't gone out to take pictures in a long time. Can we go take pictures today?" At first I said no, because it was supposed to be over 100˚F and as I have told you all many times....I DO NOT DO WELL IN THE HEAT!!! but I caved in when she flashed those big blue eyes and said "Pleassssse!!!"  So, I thought we would make the best of it and head over to our little local winery and take our little picnic hamper and a blanket to rest on under a shady tree....and thats exactly what we did.

I actually really needed to take pictures of her in this jumper because soon I will be adding the pattern to the shop. After tons of requests I finally got around to making a pattern of this sweet little strip~work jumper. The pattern is going to be called "Phoebe's Jumper" and you can expect to see it in the shop any day now. I spent a ton of time on this one and give very detailed instructions and measurements so you can easily make one yourself....and because there are so many prints in it it's a great way to use up some of your bits and pieces of smaller yardage to make an adorable jumper. Plus, Terri and I are going to offer this exact jumper in the shop as a kit that will include everything to make an exact duplicate in this gorgeous Country French collection from Moda called "Avignon". So keep a watch in the the shop for details soon!

After, our visit to the vineyard we went to the beach for another photo shoot so check back soon to see those pictures....Hope it's cooler where you are!!!

Parade Of Dresses~ Part 6

Back with yet another "Phoebe" except this time all done up in Art Gallery fabrics "Sugar" collection. Oh, how I love this collection. So, many fun and happy prints and the colors.....fantastic!!! There were so many of these fabrics that I just loved it was hard to choose just a few. So, the perfect solution was to use a whole bunch of them in this little strip work jumper.

These photos were actually taken on the grounds of the fabulous little country restaurant that we fell in love with. It used to be a quaint little country farm and the remains of the old barn still remain in the back. You should have seen the ancient equipment that was there. I have no idea what it all was but it looked very cool! Abby had an absolute ball running around trying to catch butterflies and looking at all the beautiful flowers in their garden. We hated to say goodbye, but I promised her we would go back there someday soon!

stop back tomorrow for the next stop on our tour...

Parade Of Dresses~ Part 5

Ahhh....much better! It's amazing how AC and some delicious food can make the world a better place! We found a charming little eatery in the middle of nowhere and their food was de-lish...especially the brownie sundae for dessert! Abby was back to her happy bubbly self and ready to start back to work.

This dress is not one for Art Gallery, but rather one for my my latest pattern called "Phoebe". This is a project that I have been working on with Terri and she is going to offer this exact dress as a kit in her shop. Pattern, fabric, and buttons included! This is our first kit and this one is made in Moda "Birdie" which is so stinkin" cute! Love love love the bright happy colors and the adorable prints. I just have a few more finishing touches to add to the pattern and then it will be complete. We hope to have this available within the next few weeks in the shop so keep an eye out for news about that.

More tomorrow!

Introducing "Phoebe"

Yes, I have really gotten back into the swing of things and I am almost ready to release my next pattern to my wonderful testers. I actually designed this one last year and recently found it in the depths of Abby's closet and I fell in love with it all over again. So, I thought it would be fun to make this the next pattern in my collection. "Phoebe's Jumper" is a very twirly, very girly jumper! It has a double layer skirt and of course I couldn't resist adding a ruffle to the bottom of the under skirt. The bodice is slightly over sized for a more relaxed look and it has shoulder straps to keep everything in place. As you can see i really had fun with this one and added all kinds of fun touches and played around with it a lot. One strap buttons in the front and the other in the back. How cute is that? It also has a sweet little pocket on the bodice for keeping "girly treasures" in. Abby says, "It's the perfect size pocket for diamonds"...only she could come up with that one!

One of the things I really love about "Phoebe" is that it is truly a 4 seasons jumper. Perfect in the fall/winter with a long sleeved-T or turtle neck and adorable in the spring/summer with a tank or T-shirt. I really think this little jumper is a perfect addition to any little girls closet.
