Finally...Some New Patterns!!!

This summer has been so busy and sadly my pattern making has lagged a little but now I am getting back on track. These past few weeks I have been busy working hard on a few new things for you. First up I am thrilled to announce that "Hannah's Nightgown" is almost complete!!!! Yeah, finally...I am so sorry for the delay, but I promise it's almost ready. Just a few more tweeks and I can put it all together and it will be complete. The instructions, pattern pieces and cover all all complete now to just turn it into a PDF and publish it. Fingers crossed....maybe this weekend!

Next Up! "Brooke's Coat" This little coat has caused quite the stir and the requests for a pattern have just been overwhelming so I honestly have been working on it through the night and then some to get it to all of you ASAP! Just in time for the upcoming cooler weather (let's hope!) and soooo stinkin' cute. This one is almost done too!

Then Finally...my latest creation. "Isabelle's Skirt". I actually made this one about two years ago and then remembered how much I loved it so I dug it out and decided to turn it into a pattern for you. This little skirt is so sweet and very "Vintage Chic" looking and best of all it's different! Not the same old twirly skirt. It's my version of a updated prairie skirt...remember those??? It's a bit longer and has a double ruffle on the bottom and a fun little twist of a drawstring to cinch it up just a little. "Isabelle" is also well into production and I hope to release it later this week.

It feels so good to be designing and making patterns again. I have received so many wonderful emails from people asking when I was going to release some new designs and now I finally have some good news...they're coming!!!!

Another Nightgown

This morning I made up yet another nightgown for Miss Abby. This time I used some gorgeous fabrics from the "Beach House" collection. I cannot tell you how much I just love this fabric...so pretty and feminine and perfect for a little girls nightie. I have to say Abby really loves these nighties I have been making up for her. This morning she said, "Mom, you really need to make me a pink one next and then a purple one and a yellow one and a green one........" I said, "Abby, how many nightgowns do you think you need?" her response..."Hmmmmm, maybe about 13!"

"Nightie"~ night

Tonight after Abby took her bath she asked if she could wear the new nightgown that I made for her the other day. So, we decided to have a little fun and snap a few pictures of her in her new nightie before we read her book and I tucked her in. I have to say, she had a serious attack of the "sillies" and we both got to laughing so hard that the photo session had to end. You should see some of the silly shots...we had several serious contenders for Blooper awards and if my camera had sound it would have been just priceless. The perfect combo of little girl giggles with the occasional piggy snort. Gosh, I love this little munchkin!

My New Passion

I have always loved the look of heirloom sewing and been very curious about the techniques heirloom sewers use when creating those gorgeous garments we all swoon over. I know each time a new Sew Beautiful comes out I spend hours studying the pages and dreaming of creating something as beautiful one of these days. Well, I have been bitten by the bug and now I am asking lots of questions and doing lots of reading about the how to's of heirloom. Of course, Sam has been a huge help and she is filling my head with all kinds of ideas. When I look ay my designs I see tons of possibilities of how I could add heirloom touches and make them in true heirloom fashion. All done with french seams, which I have been using a lot more of these days instead of my serger. No top stitching and using really high quality heirloom fabrics. Today was my first attempt...just a simple sweet nightgown created with the yummiest Swiss Dot that I got from Terri and some vintage lace and pearl buttons from my grandma's attic. I used one of my designs and changed a few things to create this very sweet nightgown for Abby. When she saw it she absolutely fell in love and said "Mommy...is that really for me to wear to bed? It's too pretty to wear to sleep in!" I can't wait to explore this heirloom world even more. I am already making wish lists at some on line heirloom shops and planning a trip up to Richmond to go to Chadwick Heirlooms for the first time. All those laces, trims, ribbons and beautiful fabrics. Talk about a kid in a candy shop!!!!
