Birds of a Feather

Hello and thanks for joining me today! I am up on The Rabbit Hole Designs blog today with a fun card featuring the cute stack of owls from the recently released OWL-Right stamp set!
This crazy bunch of owls make me smile every time I see them! I combined them with the
Circles and Stars stencil in the background for a fun and colorful card.
Here are the supplies I used:

I started with a white card base and I stenciled a solid rectangle shape in Twisted Citron Distress Oxide ink.  Then I took the Circles and Stars stencil and layered it over my rectangle and sponged over it in Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink. I just love the ways the stars look against the solid rectangle. The cutie patootie owls from the OWL-Right stamp set were colored with Copic markers and some of you might notice The Rabbit Hole signature colors in their wings.
I popped those silly birds up on some foam tape and stamped a sentiment from the same stamp set at the top.  I adhered it all to a purple card base to match the colors and my card was done.
What a fun colorful card to make and those owls are sure to make you smile!

So glad you could join me today!

Anti Valentine's Day Cards

Good morning crafty card making peeps!
I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving and ate lots of turkey
and spent some quality time with family and friends!
I spent the holiday with family in Georgia and had
tons of fun shopping and laughing!

Today I am up on The Rabbit Hole Designs blog with 2 fun cards
using products from the recent December release!
In the crafty world we are ahead of schedule with the holidays
so we are currently in Valentine's Day mode.
I used the new Anti Valentine Sassy Sentiments combined with the
Circle Illusion Stencil and came up with 2 fun and easy cards.

For my first card I blended rainbow colors over the Circle Illusion Stencil
for a fun and colorful background.
I used a smaller rectangle of vellum paper to mute out the center
of the stenciled background and then I added 3 sentiments from
the Anti Valentine Sassy Sentiments. I white heat embossed the sentiments
on to black paper and stacked them on the vellum.
I even decorated the inside of the card with another sentiment
and included the heart image from the same set with the
word "blah" inside of it.

For my second card I used purple ink only over the
Circle Illusion Stencil for a more monotone look.
I added a heart shape that I cut from silver glitter paper on to the
center of the stenciled background.

Once again I white heat embossed a sentiment on black paper from the
Anti Valentine Sassy Sentiments.
and mounted the sentiment it across the silver heart.
Lastly I  decorated the inside of the card similar to the first card.

I love the new stencils, they really make quick work
of a fun and interesting background with minimal effort.
The Anti Valentine Sassy Sentiments stamp set really
cracks me up and at the same time can be used for a legit
Valentine's day card if you use the cupid and heart images
and any number of other "true love" sentiments.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and don't forget you can
purchase The Rabbit Hole Designs products at Simon Says Stamp.

Have a great day, I already am!

Mermaid Shaker Tag

Good morning everyone! Today is my son's 14th birthday and I just finished
making a very masculine fishing vest card, so of course it's time for a real girly card!
I am on the The Rabbit Hole Design's blog today and I have a super sparkly
Mermaid shaker tag for you using the Mermaid Hair stamp set!
This is one of my favorite stamp sets so far, I just love mermaids and anything
sparkly! I also added in some fun Rabbit Hole sequins that come as free gifts
with your orders.  The colors were my inspiration for this card.
I just love the blue and purple colors together for mermaid cards!

The frame of my tag was made using the Stitched Scalloped Rectangle Dies
from Kat Scrappiness and the Aloha scripty word die is from Lawn Fawn.
I made the background of my tag out of vellum so you could really
appreciate the sequins! I also stamped 2 of the fish images from the
Mermaid Hair stamp set in the background for a little extra fun!
Here is another pic with all of the Rabbit Hole supplies used.

Thanks for stopping by today and make sure to stop by The Rabbit Hole Design's blog

Peonies in Gold

Welcome back to my blog! I am up on The Rabbit Hole Designs blog today and I have 2 cards to share with you using the new release Pretty in Peony stamp set.

Did you ever have an idea in your head for a card and when you actually sat down to make it,  you couldn't make it look like the picture in your head?   It always amazes me when that happens because I see it so clearly yet I just can't reproduce it.  It is very frustrating and sometimes I wind up creating something different but still very beautiful.  This was one of those times.  These 2 cards started off as an idea to have very bright flowers pop against a very stark black background.  Although I like how they came out, they started out very different in my head!

Card Recipes

  • I began by stamping the peonies in clear versamark ink on watercolor paper and heat embossing them in gold.
  • Next I took my Zig clean color markers and did some quick coloring with 2 colors for the flowers and 2 colors for the greenery.
  • Once I had the color down, I took a small wet paintbrush to move the color around for a loose watercolored look.  What a therapeutic technique!
  • I took the flowers and leaves over to my scan n cut and cut them all out.
  • I prepped 2 card bases in black, both with a Kat Scrappiness Stitched Scalloped Rectangle die. One rectangle I embossed with a diagonal striped embossing folder.
  • For the sentiments, on the first card I used a Thank You die from my stash and cut it out in gold glitter paper to match the outline of the flowers. On the second card I stamped a sentiment from the set in clear versamark ink and heat embossed it in gold on to a small scalloped rectangle.
  • I popped the some of the flowers up on foam tape to give them some dimension.

Thank you so much for joining me today on the blog.  I hope you have enjoyed my cards and make sure to check out all of the brand new items in the shop! The Rabbit Hole Designs has just added 5 fun new dies to their inventory and you're going to want to check them out!

Crabby Coffee Card

Hello crafty friends, I'm up on the Kat Scrappiness blog today and
I'm sharing a card using 2 stamp sets from one of the new
vendors in the Kat Scrappiness shop!
The Rabbit Hole Designs is a new company that has
fun and creative stamps with a dash of quirky and sassy!
They have a whole line of caffeinated critter stamps and today
I am using the Caffeinated Crab on my card!
The sentiment is from the Perfectly Blended stamp set.
This coffee and tea themed sentiment set has the funniest
sayings and pair so perfectly with the caffeinated critters from The Rabbit Hole!
I got the super cute patterned paper from Michaels with crabs
all over it and I thought it would be the perfect background for my tired crab!

I used the Zig Zag Border dies on some kraft paper and then I made it look like
faux sand using a technique I showed in this YouTube video:
I also die cut some shells and gave them the same look as the sand.
The crab patterned paper was cut out using the Zig Zag Rectangle dies
and I layered the kraft paper on top of it.  Since I used the Zig Zag border dies,
it layered perfectly on top. The bottom layer of my sun was cut using
the starburst die from the Crafter's Essentials II dies.
The sentiment is from the Perfectly Blended stamp set by The Rabbit Hole
and I mounted it on to a small die from the Zig Zag Rectangle dies.

I just love these fun stamps from The Rabbit Hole and I think you will too!

Coffee Card with Video

Good morning everyone!  I'm up on the Kat Scrappiness blog today I wanted to share a coffee card that I made that has a fun technique to go with it! I used the Fabrika Decoru Enamel Drops to make that cute heart embellishment for the front of the coffee cup.  I have a video for you to watch that shows exactly how I made it.  Some of the artisan coffee shops have the ability to put cool designs into the foam that you see on top of their drinks.  This technique I will show you mimics that look and can be reproduced on your cards!  The Fabrika drops are available in so many colors so the sky is the limit to what you can create!

For my card I used one of the new stamp sets that was just released in the shop called
Let's Get Caffeinated.  I stamped one of the cute sentiments onto a
Stitched Scalloped Nesting Tag die with some Distress Ink in Ground Espresso.  I tied a twine bow with multiple layers so it would really have some dimension.  I placed the Layered Coffee Cup die with the Fabrika heart embellishment on the front of the card and the sentiment on some foam tape and the card was done.  The background of the card was cut with the largest die from the Stitched Scalloped Rectangles in some pretty Papertrey Ink polka dot paper.

The assembly of the card was fairly easy so I won't go into too much detail in this post.  The technique with the Fabrika enamel drops is easier explained in the video.

Heart Shaker Card

Hi everyone! I'm up on the blog again at Kat Scrappiness today to bring you a pretty little shaker card!  I have the privilege of introducing some new products that are available in the
shop this month.
One of the products is a set of nested Stitched Scalloped Heart dies and the second product is a set of Stitched Scalloped Border dies. I'm just loving the combination of the scallops and the stitching together!  I used the Stitched Scalloped Border dies to cut some white card stock and I popped it up on foam tape over the patterned paper on the bottom of the card front.

I made a shaker element out of the Stitched Scalloped Heart dies and filled it with a combination of the 4 mm Sparkling Clear Solid Confetti Mix and the 3 mm Transparent Coral Hearts.

There are over 400 sequin mixes in the Kat Scrappiness shop to choose from so you can go shaker card crazy!

Shaker cards are so much fun to make, I hope you'll give one a try and thanks for stopping by!

Mini Treat Bags

Hello again crafty friends!  I'm back today on the Kat Scrappiness blog to bring you another cute project!  I made 3 adorable mini treat bags using the Stitched Heart Tag die and I decorated them with the Stitched Flag dies and the Double Stitched Circle dies.  I have a video for you today to show how I assembled the bags and it's super easy to follow.  I have to thank my fellow Kat Scrappiness design team member Maria Russell for the fabulous idea to make the bag.  She did a video a while back showing the process and I remade the bags using some current stamps and dies.

This is the bag I assembled in my video and I used a sentiment from the Punny Snacks stamp set.
The pretty patterned paper is from the Lawn Fawn paper pack, Gotta Have Gingham .  I started with 2 die cut panels from the larger die in the Stitch Heart Tag dies. I then cut a coordinating piece of paper to 11 7/8" x 2" to attach the 2 die cut panels together.  Next you will score your paper on the 11 7/8" side at 4" and 7 7/8" and then you will score the paper 1/4" in from both sides on the 2" side.

After you score your strip fold on all the score lines and make
4 snips where the score lines meet each other.

The next step is to place some strong double sided adhesive along the middle sections to
adhere the 2 heart tags.

Next you want to apply some additional double sided tape to the remaining scored flaps and assemble the box accordingly.

The video will show the assembly process step by step.  The only thing left to do is decorate the front of the box and fill it with pretty tissue paper and treats!
I die cut several Stitched Flag dies from some more gingham paper and arranged them around one of the Double Stitched Circle dies.  I stamped a sentiment from the Punny Snacks stamp set on to a scalloped circle and adhered it to the circle on some foam tape.
I made the same box with some different patterned paper but essentially followed the same steps.

I also created the same bag a third time for the Coffee Lovers Bloghop that Kat Scrappiness is a super sponsor for.  I used the Layered Coffee Cup die and the "Got Coffee" sentiment die for the front of the bag and I finished it off with a sentiment from the Technique Tuesday stamp set "Sassy Coffee"
I stamped the sentiment on to a Stitched Flag die and finished off the front panel with some paint splatters of Ground Espresso distress ink.

These treat bags are super fun to make and they are very quick and easy to assemble.  They would make great party favors for a kids party or even elegant favors for a wedding or anniversary party.
Here is a link to the YouTube video showing how to assemble these cute bags.

Thanks for joining me today!  All supplies used are linked below.
I hope you'll give this technique a try!

Masculine Cards with Dad's Tools

I'm up today on the Kat Scrappiness blog to bring you some Father's Day/Masculine card inspiration.  If you're anything like me, masculine cards can be difficult.  I know for me, most of my projects involve the color pink and lots of sparkle and shine.  Up until now masculine cards have been a chore because I'm not inspired by the color schemes or the focal points.  This month there is a new stamp set in the Kat Scrappiness store that has breathed new life into the masculine card world.  Step aside feminine layering stamps because Dad's Tools are making their debut!

The new Dad's Tools stamp set at KS gives a fresh new look to dad's old toolbox.  There are 4 different elements in the stamp set to layer and decorate with.  There is a hammer, a screwdriver, a nail and a screw and so many fun sentiments to play with.
I found it helpful to swatch some gray and brown colors before I started my card to see what combinations would look best when I started stamping the layers of my tools.  I used the heart stamp from the Swatches  stamp set to make this visual tool and it was quite helpful.  With layering stamps you want to start out with your lightest color ink and add progressively darker layers as you go.

For my first card today I decided to recreate a fun toolbox and fill it up with some of Dad's Tools.

I cut down a standard A2 card base into the shape of a toolbox and gave it a front panel which doubled as a pocket so I could fit the hammer, screwdriver and some nails and screws into it. The white embossed sentiment "Happy Birthday" fit perfectly onto one of the Stitched Fishtail Banner Dies which is also one of the new releases this month in the Kat Scrappiness store.

I layered the sentiment onto a second darker fishtail banner and added the
"Mr. Fix It" sentiment under the banners.

For my second card today I went with a more traditional card and I used only the hammer and screwdriver from Dad's Tools for the focal point under the sentiment.

I used patterned paper for my first layer and a faux pegboard piece of paper for my second layer.  I cut both of those layers out with two different size dies from the Wonky Wavy Stitched Rectangles dies to give some added interest to the borders.  For the focal point of the card I used another one of the new releases this month called Stitched Flags.

The shape of these new dies is so unique and can be used alone or with a sentiment for a fun element on your cards.  I stamped the sentiment "Happy Father's Day" from Dad's Tools in Versamark ink and white heat embossed it onto one of the Stitched Flags.  I mounted the Flag onto some foam tape for some extra added dimension.

Make sure to check out what the other girls on the design team have done this month with the Stitched Flag dies!  There is so much talent and creativity, you will definitely want to add these dies to your collection!

Also today is National Scrapbooking Day!  We are having some fun giveaways at Kat Scrappiness and from May 4th - 6th there will be 20% off sitewide if you use coupon code NSD2018.

Crafty Friends are the Best Friends!

Hello Crafty Friends!
I'm up on the Kat Scrappiness blog today and it's time to get CRAFTY!πŸŽ¨πŸ–Œ
Chances are if you're reading this post you are a crafty person and chances are you have one or more crafty friends!  Today I have 2 cards to share with you that are perfect to send to the crafty friends in your life!  Both cards use the new Kat Scrappiness word die "Hello My Crafty Friend".  This is such a fun die because it can be used as a large focal point on it's own or you can use any of the 4 words in the set on their own like I did on the second card.

For my first card I used a technique that I love called inlaid die cutting.  I took some smooth white card stock and I blended 6 different Distress inks in a rainbow of color large enough to die cut the Crafty Friends die out of.  The Distress inks I used were a combination of the original colors and the newer Distress oxide pads.  In rainbow order the were:
Picked Raspberry
Carved Pumpkin
Squeezed Lemonade
Cracked Pistachio
Salty Ocean
Wilted Violet

After I got the colors just the way I wanted I splattered the paper with water to give it a distressed look and then I die cut the entire saying out of the rainbow background and then again out of a black panel measuring 5 1/4" x 4".  I then took a standard white A2 card base and put adhesive all over the front before laying down the black panel.  Next I laid the rainbow colored sentiment back into the open spots on the black panel and fit them in like a jigsaw puzzle.  They fit perfectly in the openings and it didn't add any bulk to the card.  I saved the little black bits to place back in the openings in the letters with holes in them.  Putting the black bits back in gives it a very uniform look.

To finish the card off I added some paintbrushes that I also cut out of the rainbow background that I made and I added some glittery hearts to the bottom.  I splattered the whole front with some white paint to give it an artsy fun appearance.  The Crystal Katana tool was very helpful in helping me replace the words in their holes and also to place the tiny hearts down at the bottom.

For my second card I used the word "Hello" from the Hello My Crafty Friend Die and cut it out 5 different times in a rainbow of glittered paper.  I layered a white banner on to a kraft card base to really make the repeated "Hellos" stand out.  To finish the card I stamped a sentiment from the Everyday Brush Strokes stamp set onto some kraft card stock and heat embossed it with white powder.  I popped the sentiment up with foam tape and the card was done.  This was a super quick card to put together but I think it looks fabulous because of all the glittery goodness in a rainbow of colors.  This is just one example of how you can use any of the words on their own from the Hello My Crafty Friend Die

Thanks for joining me today, I hope you'll share some creativity with one of your crafty friends!  This versatile die makes it super easy to do!

Lots of Envelopes

πŸ’ŒHAPPY MAILπŸ’Œ
I don't know about you but that sentence brings a smile to my face whenever I hear it, not to mention when I see it in my mailbox and at my front door!
Today I'm over on the Kat Scrappiness blog with some fun envelopes to give your snail mail an upgrade!

The April Card Challenge over at Kat Scrappiness is Envelope Art and there are 2 new stamp sets that make it easy to add some PIZZAZZ to your envelopes!  Giraffe Envelope Art and Owl Envelope Art. Here are 2 examples of how you can use the Giraffe stamp set to take your
envelopes from drab to fab!

On the first envelope I stamped the Giraffe with some Memento Tuxedo Black ink so I could color him with copic markers and then cut him out so he could sit at the bottom corner and then I added some fun leaves around him. The stamp set also comes with 2 cute stamps that say "to" and "from" in a fun font.  I thought it would be fun to stamp them and highlight them with Lawn Fawn Cilantro ink using the rectangle shape from the Swatches stamp set.  To finish the envelope off I stamped the cheeky sentiment "It has been so long" diagonally near the giraffe's head.  For the second envelope I stamped the entire Giraffe with his sign and colored him in and then added some fun leaves around the border of the envelope.  The sign is the perfect space to add your recipients name and address. The "to" and "from" stamps look cute in their respective places on the envelope as well.  HAPPY MAIL for KAT!!

The next envelope I have to show you is a mini envelope that is meant for hand delivery as opposed to sending in the mail.  It has a super fun shaker element on the front and uses the star stamp from the Swatches stamp set again and some dreamy Sent from Heaven sequin mix.  I stamped the star with some Golden Glitz Pigment ink by Delicata for a sparkly look.  This envelope will be a keepsake that your lucky recipient won't stop shaking!
The last 3 envelopes I decorated using the Swatches stamp set one more time.  This stamp set is so versatile with its basic shapes and the sky is the limit with what you can create after you've swatched your inks and markers with it.  For the top envelope I stamped only half of the circle stamp in a rainbow of Lawn Fawn inks to give the look of a fun scalloped border along the bottom edge.  I highlighted the "to" and "from" stamps with that same circle in red and blue ink.  The "happy mail" sentiment from the Giraffe Envelope Art set was the perfect addition to repeat
along the scalloped border.
For the bottom two envelopes in the picture I combined the Swatches stamp set with the Everyday Brush Strokes set for fun side border stamped in Distress Oxide inks.
I love the chalky appearance the Oxide Inks give and I love the look on kraft paper!
I hope that I have inspired you to have some fun with your envelopes today and dress them up with your stamp sets!  It is our responsibility to add some fun to the mailbox for our hard working post men and women!  Not to mention distracting your recipient from those nasty bills and junk mail!
Thanks for joining me today!  All supplies will be linked down below and don't forget to use code: Lisa10 to receive 10% off your purchase at checkout in the Kat Scrappiness shop!
