My {re}Purposed Life and Oh My Crafts Vinyl

Monday, January 16, 2012

We recently contacted Gail over at My {re}Purposed Life to see if she would give a review on our Oh My Crafts Vinyl. We're happy to say that she accepted and we want to share her thoughts on OMC Vinyl as well as some of her project ideas!

The first project we want to feature is Gail's mirror that she vinyled using Grape Vinyl. She wrote out a phrase, cut it out, and used transfer tape to apply the Vinyl to her mirror.

Gail noted that she first place all the words around the mirror to make sure that the phrase would fit nicely.

Take a look at the finished product! What a great way to add a little something extra to object you already own.

Here is another quick and easy project. Gail wanted to give her phone a little something extra, so she used Turquoise Blue Vinyl to create a Damask for the back cover! Vinyl is a great way to add a personal touch!

The next project she completed was this repurposed cupboard door. Gail designed and cut these designs out using her Cameo. She used Cherry Red, Kelly Green, and Lemon Drop Vinyl!

Another holiday project Gail created was this wood board with Vinyl. She used Cloud White Vinyl and her Silhouette to cut out the image. Once attached to her green board, she covered the entire thing with DecoArt Glamour Dust. The glitter sticks to the vinyl as well as the background which really makes the whole project pop!

Gail used Emerald Green Flake Vinyl for this last project. She downloaded this image off the Silhouette as well. It makes a great piece of home decor for the holidays.

We want to send our thanks to Gail for sharing her review and her projects with us!

Random Thoughts of a Supermom & Oh My Crafts Vinyl

Friday, January 13, 2012

We recently sent Kelli over at Random Thoughts of a SUPERMOM a package of Oh My Crafts Vinyl to review for us. She gave us a great review and we want to share some of her thoughts and ideas with you!

Kelli enjoyed the fact that OMC Vinyl comes in flat 12" x 24" sheets as well as rolls. She found that they loaded into her machine easier than she expected. Another positive was the OMC Vinyl Squeegee Tool. She said, "It made applying my vinyl so much easier!"

Here is one of the crafts Kelli made with Ladybug Red Vinyl. She made 13 of these cute little treat buckets and only used about half a sheet of vinyl!

For her boy's class party she created these absolutely adorable Snowman Juice Boxes! She used Ebony Vinyl for the eyes and mouths of the snowmen.

Last but not least, Kelli made this target for her window. Her boys received bows and arrows for Christmas and this Vinyl target was much easier to maintain than dry erase markers. She even made it out of the Ruby Glitter Vinyl so that it would really stand out well.

We want to thank Kelli for the great review and for the fabulous project ideas she's shared with us.

Flamingo Toes & Oh My Crafts Vinyl

Sunday, January 8, 2012

We recently sent Beverly over at Flamingo Toes a package of Oh My Crafts Vinyl to try it out and give us a review. It was her first time using vinyl and her projects turned out amazing! We want to share with you what fun things she made.

Her first project was a "Be Merry & Bright" sign that she created for her mantel. She used a frame, some burlap for the backing, and Ruby Glitter Vinyl from OMC!

Her next project was something that everyone could do! She created a skin for her phone. Bev used some Turquoise Blue Vinyl for this project. Vinyl is great for decorating phones, computers, laptops, and more because it is repositionable and can be changed as often as you'd like!

Last but not least, Bev used Chalkboard Vinyl to create a frame for her daughter's room. What a great way to leave fun notes and reminders!

Thank you Beverly for reviewing our Vinyl and for the great project ideas! You can read her full post and see more project photos by Clicking HERE!

Katie's Nesting Spot & Oh My Crafts Vinyl

Thursday, January 5, 2012

Katie from Katie's Nesting Spot recently created some amazing projects using Oh My Crafts Vinyl and we wanted to share them with you to show you all the different things that you can create with vinyl.
Katie used Hot Pink and Lavender Vinyl to giver her NookColor a makeover. She liked the fact that Oh My Crafts Vinyl is repositionable and how if she didn't like the way it turned out she could change the color or look.

Another project she did was making labels for the glass containers in her bathroom. Katie used Chalkboard Vinyl so that she could write on the labels. Vinyl is a great alternative to glass etching and it is easier to see!
Click HERE to view the full post for these projects.

Katie also created some holiday decor with Oh My Crafts Vinyl.

Katie created this personalized ornament for her child with Grape Vinyl and a regular glass ornament. With a wide variety of colors choices, you have the ability to choose the right color of Vinyl to blend in with your holiday decor.

This shadow box is a perfect example of how Vinyl can add that extra pop. Katie used Lucky Green, Bubblegum, and Pacific Blue Vinyl to create the snowflakes and phrase for the outside of the glass. The colors matched fabulously with her photograph and background. You can even preposition your shapes on Transfer Tape before applying them to the surface so that you can get your vinyl just where you'd like it before it is placed.

We want to send a big THANK YOU to Katie for sharing such amazing Vinyl ideas!

A Little Inspiration & Oh My Crafts Vinyl

Saturday, December 31, 2011

Angie Ramirez over at A Little Inspiration recently gave a review on her blog all about Oh My Crafts Vinyl. We're happy to say we passed our review! We wanted to share what Angie had to said as well as some of the projects she created using Vinyl.

Angie gave us a rating of 5 out of 5 Hearts as she loved that there are so many Vinyl colors to choose from and that the Vinyl works great with any cutting machine. She also included an adorable tutorial of how to use Oh My Crafts Vinyl to create a holiday phrase for your wall!

You can read her full review and post by Clicking HERE!

Angie's second post using Oh My Crafts Vinyl included projects for Christmas! She first created a cute frame with a Christmas tree accent cut out of Ruby Glitter Vinyl.

The second project used Vinyl to decorate plain ornaments.

You can read the full tutorial by Clicking HERE!

Angie's last project was a tutorial for a bird silhouette for her daughter's wall.

Isn't that little birdie adorable?

Transfer Tape is a great tool for positioning vinyl as there are grid lines on the Vinyl to help you align your project. You can also see through the semi-transparent Transfer Tape, so placing your Vinyl in just the right place is easy.

We want to thank Angie for reviewing our Vinyl and sharing her adorable projects with us :)

Day 10 - Holiday Tissues Boxes

Wednesday, November 23, 2011

Holiday Tissue Boxes
Created by OMC Designer Sandy

Supplies Used:
Tissue box 5 x 5½ inch size, remove protective cardboard from center of box
OMC Vinyl : Silver Flake, Sky Blue Flake and White, Transfer Tape
Sizzix : eclips Seasonal Cartridge (any holiday cartridge will work)
Martha Stewart : Utility Bone folder or Tonic Studios: Retractable Knife

We R Memory Keepers : Magnetic Mat and Ruler

Instructions:
1. Trim a 12" x 24" sheet of silver vinyl to 18 inches using We R Memory Keepers Magnetic mat and ruler. Then trim a 18" x 5½" strip of silver vinyl. Next, trim a 5" x 5" square from the first vinyl remnant piece.
2. Remove liner from vinyl from 5" x 5" square and center the over the top of the box and smooth out. Fold excess vinyl over the edge tucking in the corners.
3. Carefully remove about 10 inches of liner from vinyl and center over side of box (lay box on its side) and continue smoothing vinyl in place as you work around the side of the box (there should be enough vinyl that if it gets a little crooked it won’t matter. Because of the sparkling glitter the seam will not show so just let it wrap all the way around the box.
4. Fold bottom overhang of vinyl to bottom of box and smooth out.
5. With a craft knife, carefully trim away excess vinyl from the top so the sides and the top are flush.
6. Cut words and icons according to chart:

7. Cut a box around icon with craft knife. Weed around and remove excess vinyl from icon. Pick out any centers. Apply transfer tape to top piece of vinyl and burnish. Lift transfer tape and icon from liner and lay over top of shadow and center. Once the position is correct, press firmly down on shadow and burnish. Lift edge of transfer tape and remove from liner (both pieces should be stuck to the transfer tape) then center on each side of box. Repeat process for all four sides.

8. Make sure to position the words on the front of the box and not where there is a seam.
