Floral Media - McQueens Flowers Create a Simple Grouping
This time on 'Floral Media' we are taking a look at a range of beautifully pale flowers in understated pale vases. It's Rodney at the London florist McQueens', who makes five pretty flower arrangements in five different vases.
The vases vary in shape and height but are in similar colours - off-white and light grey.
The flowers he is using are very light pink almost white ranunculus, variegated pink tulips, pale pink roses and again pale pink lilac.
Keeping the vases and the flowers pale in colour but when grouped together has a lot of impact and a great amount of texture and visual variation.
Here you can have a look at some previous McQueens flower arrangements. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
Enjoy the video, the vases and the flower arranging and have a fabulous and floral Monday!
I'll be back on Wednesday with more floral delights from Of Spring and Summer.

Floral Media - Blue Flowers in Blue Jugs by McQueens Flowers
Today on Floral Media I want to show you a short video. We are taking a look at what Andrea from the top London florist McQueens Flowers is doing with blue flowers using blue containers.
Andrea is using three blue enamelled vintage jugs; they are different in size and shape but are all in almost the same clear blue colour.
The flowers and foliage he is using are blue delphiniums, Viburnum 'Roseum' or Guelder Rose, eucalyptus, blue hyacinths, Euphorbia and three potted primroses as well as a little bit of moss.
In the first tallest jug he puts some tall bright blue delphiniums - mixed with a few stems of lime green Guelder Rose and some grey green eucalyptus foliage.
The second jug he fills with blue hyacinths and some lime green Euphorbia
In the third jug he puts some potted primulas or to be exact Primula auricula. He packs three plants into the jug and covers the soil with some moss.
What great colour combinations for spring and all the little arrangements are easy, quick and simple.
Just the way I like it!!

Floral Media - Glorious Gloriosa Lily from McQueens Flowers
The London florist McQueens Flowers is back with another quick and easy flower arranging video. This time its their florist Poppy who is showing us how to arrange some Gloriosa superba lilies in a collection of three different sizes of fish bowl vases.
Poppy starts by removing all the leaves and then cutting the stems the same length. All the vases are filled with only a little bit of water. The flowers are then gently curved along the inside of the vase with the stem in water but leaving as much as possible of the flower above water level.
The larger bowls will hold between 4-6 flowers depending on size. In the small vases she cuts the stems very short and only puts one in each vase. She then arrange the vases along the table with some tealight candles and a few loose flowers on the table as a finishing touch.
A lovely and different way to display flowers in round vases - as well as being very quick and easy. Gloriosa lilies are available all year around and lasts for approximately 4-5 days.
Enjoy the video and why not try the same thing with just one vase and a few stems.
Have a lovely floral day and I'll see you later in the week with more floral arrangements, tips and inspiration.

Floral Media - Inspired by Spring from McQueens Flowers
More and more spring flowers as well as many flowering branches are starting to appear. Today I'm featuring an inspiring short video from the London florist McQueens Flowers.
The flowers they used are forsythia with their classic yellow flowers, twisted branches of corkscrew hazel and simple white tulips.
They have used two different kind of clear glass vases - three tall cylinders with straight sides and four slightly smaller also cylinders but with curved sides with a narrower opening at the top.
In the lower curved vases they put just a small amount of water and then one branch of yellow flowering forsythia. The branches are cut down so that they sits inside the vase - just barely sticking up above the edge. So the whole thing is viewed through the glass.
The other arrangement in the taller cylinders is filled with the same amount of water and then they've combined one cut-down branch of hazel with white tulips. Again most of the hazel sits low in the vase just sticking up above the rim of the vase a little bit.
There are three tulips in each vase joining the hazel. All the leaves are removed and they are cut at three different lengths giving interest and movement behind the glass.
This shows how to use classic spring flowers and branches in a very modern and contemporary way.
All the vases are grouped together making a strong spring-like statement.
This is a lovely arrangement that is quick and easy to make. Just follow the simple instructions and you'll have one for your table!!
Have a Lovely Floral Wednesday!

Floral Media - A Classic Spring Combination from McQueens Flowers
I think by now we are all longing for SPRING!! Here is a short video with a classic spring combination from the top London florist McQueens Flowers.
They have used a handmade chunky container in a neutral colour that adds contrast and texture to the whole arrangement. To start off they are using knobbly pussy willow branches as a framework to support the other flowers and keep them in place. There is quite a few but they are not too tall - in the end just tall enough to sit just above all the other flowers.
Next they have added eight blue hyacinths as well as several small bunches of blue muscari also called grape hyacinths. Last they add nine white anemones - all three flowers are evenly spread throughout the arrangement.
Remove any broken or damaged leaves on the hyacinths - but leave the bulb part at the end of the stems. The muscari usually comes with lots of it's narrow leaves mixed in with the flowers - add some of those to each little bunch.
This is a lovely little spring arrangement that is quick and easy to make. Just follow the simple instructions and you'll have one for your table!!
