Aeshna cyanea

Southern Hawker

Wow, Lightening strikes twice!

After having such good fortune with the male Southern Hawker yesterday on my local patch, I was well pleased to have more luck, this time with the female  :-)

It was first spotted on this perch, but moved to another perch nearby

On the new perch it just sat and basked in the sun, giving me lots of photo's!

Southern Hawker

Aeshna cyanea

At last one poses for me!

Out on my local patch this morning, I at last found an obliging Southern Hawker, I flushed it up at first, then watched it settle on a thistle head, where I got theses shots of it. Fantastic Dragons!

Hairy Dragonfly
Brachytron Pratense

A short but enjoyable encounter with this Hairy dragonfly today was very rewarding for me, as they are scarce dragons here  :-)

Aeshna Mixta

Migrant Hawker

Out on my patch this afternoon I found a few Migrant Hawkers around, the sun was hidden for most of the time, but when it came out I got a few shots of this mating pair  :-)
