HAPPY BIRTHDAY, EARL!

A new challenge just started today at Doodle Dragon Studios and will run through October 16th.  It's the Macho, Macho Man challengeTo play along, you just need to use a DDS image and make the card masculine...no flowers, no bling.  Hmmm...I wonder how they feel about Sparkly Fluff and Distress Stickles.  Ha!

This challenge couldn't have come at a better time since my hubby's step-dad just celebrated his 88th birthday!  He's finally home from the hospital / nursing home after about 3-4 weeks.  He had emergency surgery and when he was well enough, he was transferred to the nursing home so he could go through daily physical therapy.  He hated every minute of it!

I printed the Dustin Pike freebie digi (gotta love those freebies, huh?) on Neenah Solar White.  This cute little party animal was colored with Copic markers and I used the out-of-the-box technique to cut him out.  The candle's flame and balloons have Glossy Accents on them and the hat has Sparkly Fluff and Distress Stickles.  The sentiment and Basic Black CS is from Stampin' Up.  The DP is from City Park.  The brown DP was put through my Big Shot with a Cuttle Bug EF to give it texture.

Copic coloring:

GINGERBREAD HOLIDAYS

Happy World Card Making Day!  I didn't even know there was such a thing until a few days ago.  How cool is that!?!  So naturally I'm spending my day (at least part of it) making a card (or two)! *wink*  I want to scoop up on the awesome deal that Dustin Pike is offering on his blog...post a card made with any of his digi images on the WCMD website and send him the link.  In return, you can purchase 100+ images for only $10.  The offer is only good for today though, so hurry!

This little gingerbread guy is just too cute!  Ah heck, all of his images are!  The image was colored with Copic markers and cut out using a Spellbinders die.  I sponged a little SU Creamy Caramel around the edges while it was still in my Nestie.  The candy cane, buttons and nose all have Glossy Accents on them.  The holly and berries are cut out with Sizzix Holly & Berries die, colored with Copic markers and popped up with Pop Dots and SU Dimensionals.  The SU Creamy Caramel CS was ran through my Big Shot with a Sizzix Holly & Berries Texture Plate for a nice, subtle texture.  I layered everything and added a few brads I picked up at JoAnn's.

HOORAY FOR BIRTHDAYS

My friend's daughter celebrated her 6th birthday yesterday so I made her this card.  Of course she went straight for the gift then was so cute when she said she already knew the card was going to be beautiful because me and her mom always make beautiful cards.  How sweet is that!?!

I used another Dustin Pike image teamed up with a Create with TLC sentiment.  Spellbinders dies were used and the image was colored with Copic markers.  What little girl doesn't like a little fluff and sparkle?  The pink on the wings is OCL's Cotton Candy Pink Sparkly Fluff and the antenna has OCL's Punk Purple Crafty Sparkles.  The CS is Neenah Solar White, SU Certainly Celery and the DP is actually from DCWV's Baby Boy pack (go figure, huh?).  I used some SU Pretty in Pink to sponge around the edges and finished with a couple Bazzill brads in the corner and a tiny ribbon knot below the sentiment.

Copic coloring:

Bear:  E37, E34, E33, RV32, RV11, RV10  Wings:  RV32, RV11, RV10, V09, V06, V04  Antenna:  V09, V06  Grass:  YG97, YG95, YG91, 0  Sky:  BG10, 0

HAPPY FALL, Y'ALL!

Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.netVERY long post this morning (sorry)!  I had a hard time deciding on which image I wanted to use for Dustin Pike's Falling for Colors challenge...so I picked six!  They were so much fun to color!  This particular challenge had us using a DDS image plus brown, red and orange.  I love, love, LOVE everything fall!  The challenge runs through October 2nd so you still have plenty of time to play along!

Each of the cards have the same layout and all of the fabulous fall sentiments are from Create with TLC.  They all used very similar Copic colors.  The sentiments were cut out using a Spellbinders die, sponged with SU Early Espresso and are popped up on SU Dimensionals and attached to the ribbon with twine. The CS is Neenah Solar White, SU Early Espresso and the DP is Apple Cider and Cinnamon Sticks from Imaginisce.  The ribbon and brads are from JoAnn's.  I just need to make a box and these will make an awesome gift pack!

WRONG WAY GURTIE

OMGosh...check out this new image from Dustin Pike / Doodle Dragon Studios that was just released yesterday.  Isn't it a hoot?  It makes me laugh every time!

I absolutely LOVE Halloween and this is actually my very first Halloween card ever.  How can that be!?!  I think I'll have to do something about that.  Stay tuned...

Anyway, I made this card for Dustin's        "Gettin' Fancy...With the Folds" challenge.  The rules are simple...use a DDS image and a "fancy fold" of your choice then link it to his blog by Saturday, September 18.  There is still time to play along if you hurry!

I chose an easel fold.  I sized, then printed the image on a LaserJet printer and used a Spellbinders die to cut it out.  I colored it with Copic markers (see below).  It's been a while since I've done any sponging on a card so I broke one out and got inky (really...I've still got some Elegant Eggplant on my fingers LOL).  The sentiments were computer generated by yours truely and also colored with Copics.  Don't you love it?  Curses...
I used some ribbon to tie a knot around my front panel and attached a button to the base.  That's pretty much it.

Thanks for looking!  Happy Friday!!!

DDS - SURPRISE!

Here's a quick birthday card this morning.  The dragon is a digital image from Dustin Pike / Doodle Dragon Studio and colored with Copic markers.  Glossy Accents was added to the balloons to make them pop (oh man...that was bad!).
Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net
Anyway...the main panel was cut out using Spellbinders Nestabilities Deckled Rectangle - small and I used a Bow-Easy to tie the bow (I bought it on EBay).

The inside sentiment is OCL's Say It Big and was embossed with VersaMark, SU Bravo Burgundy then clear embossing powder.

Well I'm outta here so I can get ready for camping.  Have a great holiday weekend!

Thanks for looking!

DDS - NO PEEKING

Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.netOMGosh...a couple nights ago, I stumbled on this A-MAZING blog called Doodle Dragon Studios (DDS).  Dustin Pike is CRAZY talented and I immediately fell in love with his characters!  The best part...he gives digital images as freebies!  How awesome is that!?!  *Look under "cool blogs" on this page for a link to his site.*

This is the first time I've colored a digital image so I have to admit, I was a little leery because I didn't know what to expect.  Sheesh...there wasn't anything to worry about.  Easy peasy!

While I was checking out his site, I noticed he offers a challenge where you can win a free digital image.  YES!  The recipe for this challenge requires the use of:  a DDS image (I used a freebie), buttons, stitching and a decorative edge...that's it.  Ok, ok...enough babbling already, let's get to it.

I re-sized the image in MS Publisher (you can use any word processing program) then printed it on Neenah CS using a LaserJet printer.  I colored the image with Copic markers and put Glossy Accents on both the bear's and the monster's noses.  I thought my new star border punch would match the little bear's bed spread perfectly.  It does.  Woot!

Oh man...I do NOT sew!  ARGH!  I wasn't sure how I was going to pull off that part of the challenge then it hit me.  I grabbed my mat pack and piercing tool to make the zig-zag pattern.  Then I used some embroidery thread and stitched it by hand.  Stitching...check!  That just left the button and that was the easy part.  I attached it to the top of my stiching.  OH!  I almost forgot about the words.  Those were computer generated and popped up on Dimensionals.  Here are a couple close ups of the little guys...

I wonder if anyone should bother to tell him "no peeking"?  Don't you just love how monsters count?  Ha!

Thanks for looking!
