WHAT'S IN MY HEAD TONIGHT

Our little barbecue didn't go as planned. We had invited our minister, his wife and their three children along with two other couples. Everyone came, except the minister. When his wife arrived, she told us there had been an accident on the beach and he was needed at the hospital and hopefully would come later. He's on staff at our local hospital and was called in this afternoon because of a tragedy here in town. We delayed dinner as long as we could, but he wasn't able to leave the hospital until much later. I packed him a meal so he would have something to eat once he finally made it home.

George and I watched the news at 10:00 and learned tonight what happened. A family of 9 visiting from Louisiana were on the beach this afternoon when two little girls in their family got in trouble in the surf. The father and brother of the two little girls went in to help the girls and ended up in trouble themselves. Somehow, the girls were saved, probably by other family members, but the father (43) and son (23) drowned. One of the girls might not survive either. What a terrible tragedy. Please pray for this family.

I'm way behind on my blog reading so please understand if I haven't read or commented on your blog lately. It's been wild and crazy for me this past week. I'll "catch up" in a day or two. I promise.

I'm working at Stein Mart tomorrow and I'm kinda dreading it. Not sure why.... I'm behind on lots of things, so I guess I just want to stay home and get things accomplished. Or maybe just take a nap :-)
Happy Birthday to Kari ! Her "real" birthday is tomorrow! (9/12) Kari, I hope you have many, many more.

That just breaks my heart, hearing about that family at the beach. Bless your pastor's heart for being there for them. I will certainly pray for them as they come to my mind today.

I hope your day at Stein Mart goes well and that you get a chance to rest and catch up tomorrow.

It's funny, I never heard of Stein Mart until you mentioned working there. Then last month Jeremy said he bought new clothes at Stein Mart, and when we were driving around in Pensacola we saw a Stein Mart. I don't think we have them up here in the north.

What a tragedy. I know the whole family is in shock. Your minister was right where he should have been. Life happens so quickly, doesn't it? We never know from one minute to the next.
God bless you today,
Tonja

Kat, I got online tonight to check out a few blogs (always have to swing by yours) and I'm just broken-hearted for this family! How tragic. These poor, poor people. Life can change directions in a heartbeat, can't it? I'll be thinking of them....
