From the press release:
"Flux Fest challenges a group of young filmmakers to produce high-quality short films about time-travel. JOIN US JULY 28th!
With only eight weeks to take their projects from concept to completion, each team works tirelessly for the duration of the challenge to make the best short film possible, all culminating in a one-of-kind night of movie-watching and celebration.
From Spooky Fest (in which filmmakers were commissioned to make horror shorts in time for Halloween 2012) to Love Fest (romantic-comedy shorts for Valentine’s Day 2013) festival attendance grew by more than three-times and Flux Fest promises to expand upon its predominantly Brooklyn-based audience even further. Just as the number of participating filmmakers and exhibited films offered has grown, so too has the following of this impressive community of filmmakers who work to support eachother in spite of the fact that they will eventually compete against one another for a variety of awards, including an Audience Choice Award, an award for Best in Show, and an award for Creative Ambition. Both Best in Show and Creative Ambition honorees will be chosen by a distinguished panel of judges.
By purchasing a ticket to Flux Fest, audience members will also receive a six hour open bar and the chance to enjoy a variety of live entertainment acts throughout the night.
Flux Fest participants include: Maurice Caicedo, Chris Cipriano, Grier Dill, James Gannon, Joe Gannon, Ryan Garretson, Brett Glass, Sean Gill, Tessa Greenberg, Philip Henken, Cale Hughes, Christine Kecher, Lit Kilpatrick, Rachel Klein, Carl Conway Maguire, Alex Meyers, Robyn Nielsen, Shaun Seneviratne, Megan Stein, Michael Tosner, Jarrod Zayas, and many more."

Happy Halloween!... and GROWING BOY

Well, we survived the hurricane here at Junta Juleil, but it's sort of put a damper on all things Halloween.  Far more time was spent watching news reports and stockpiling water/peanut butter/beer than was spent watching CAT'S EYE and HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN and BASKET CASE– though rest assured, time was made for those fine films.

Anyway, speaking of horror films, I have a new one that debuts tonight at the First Annual Spooky Fest in Bushwick, Brooklyn– it's called GROWING BOY, and promises to frighten and appall.

It stars Joe Stipek and David F. Slone, Esq.  I wrote and directed and edited and all that jazz.  Music by Jesse Carlson.  It was made with the helpful participation of Jillaine Gill, Rachel Klein, and Daisy Tainton.

I hope you all weathered the storm and are enjoying your Halloweens– and remember– Halloween's not truly over till Thanksgiving!

MUSTACHE PARTY (2010, Sean Gill)

I've been uploading some of my older films to the internet– I thought that some of you might get a kick out of MUSTACHE PARTY, a sort of avant-garde doom-laden tract best described as "Four mustachioed individuals await the impending apocalypse as a skeleton pummels a kettle drum and a hairy, Stygian Beast gradually awakens. It stars Jillaine Gill, Joe Stipek, Rachel Klein, and yours truly, who wrote and directed and all of that. It debuted at the 2011 Lower East Side Film Festival. Enjoy!

MUSTACHE PARTY (2010, Sean Gill)

I just put the finishing touches on a new film this weekend- a quickie I decided to direct and produce before SLUMLORD SHITHEEL SLAUGHTER begins in earnest. And while it will be likely be some time (submissions, festivals, etc.) before you can watch it online, here are are few screen captures to pique your interest. It's a five minute, mostly silent, short and stars Jillaine Gill, Rachel Klein, and Joe Stipek. It may or may not involve MIDI music and stop-motion animation, and if I had to describe it in one word, that word would be "apocalyptic." Enjoy.
