Quilter's Day Book

A Quilter's Day Book

for today, Thursday, June 18th, 2009
Outside my sewing room window...it's quiet. i LOVE quiet! the baby is sleeping, the kids are at auntie's and the dogs are lying in the sun.
ahhh, quiet summer days, i'll enjoy it while i can.

I am thinking...about a project i am going to start on my blog. it will be a fun way to preserve family history and traditions. my goal is to one day publish the posts into a book for my kids. i need to figure out mr. linky before i do it so i think i'll start it on tuesday. hope you'll stop by to join me.

I am thankful...i am able to to what i love to do and get paid for it. it allows me to stay home with my children. thank you, susan for putting me on this path, i love and appreciate you!

On the longarm...is another graduation gift (congratulations, tess!)

I am working on...the baby pinwheel quilt. after the last few weeks, the sewing machine needs a break.

One of my favorite things...is this quilt magazine. i eagerly await every shop hop publication! i am so very excited because one of my FAVORITE quilt shops, temecula quilt co., is going to featured in the next issue! yeah! i can't wait!!! congratulations sherry!

I thought I'd share...this book. it's no secret that i LOVE all things americana and this book has the most wonderful projects!
just take a look!

and i'm bummed because i can't find my 4th of july bin and it has this cute americana pillow that my mom made me years ago! ugh!

A tip from the sewing room...don't ok, so last weeks tip was really a joke. one project at a time, sounds like a great idea, but really it's so difficult to do. today's tip is serious. when you are putting on your quilt borders, take the time to measure through the center of your quilt and cut the borders that length. it makes a HUGE difference, especially to your quilter.

One last note...i love this kitten! what a curious little thing!

i hope you have a great day!!!

A Quilter's Day Book

for today, Friday, June 12th, 2009
Outside my sewing room window...
the kids are painting the beehive for the teddy bear tea party. the little princess informed me that we have to paint the back, as well, because when your inside the grass area you'll see the back and she doesn't want it to be ugly! (the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree...)

and look...a bee came to our hive!

I am thankful...i have a husband who is willing to take the kids for the weekend to let me get some needed time alone!

On the longarm...is a graduation gift (lucky girl!)

I am working on...so much i wouldn't be able to download the pictures! i'll give you a tour on tuesday when everyone else comes over. i did finish stitching one of the many drawings that were made for me by the little princess. this one was especially cute and was small enough to fit into this empty frame. so cute!

One of my favorite things...is this quilt. it has sentimental meaning. two very important women have put there labor of love into it. fudgie, embroidered the pictures with her machine and jill finished it for me. i love it and i love them!

I thought I'd share...this pillow that kathy made. how stinkin' cute is this with the hexagons!

A tip from the sewing room...don't bite off more than you can chew. one project at a time! LOL

i hope you have a great day!!! i'm going away for the weekend. just me and my mom, quilting all weekend with no kiddos!!! yeah! (you can't see me, but i'm singing and dancing and clickin' my heels!)

Quilter's Daybook

A Quilter's Day Book
for today, Thursday, June 4th, 2009

Outside my sewing room window...
my poor, sweet remington is completely annoyed by the puppy.
hang in there old man, she'll grow up...
(anyone want a really cute puppy???)
I am thinking...that once all our projects are done, i'm not ever going to want to leave.

I am thankful...for friends who are willing to give of their time and talent.

On the longarm...is alex's quilt. great colors!!!

I am working on...redecorating the bathroom. for the last 13 years i have hated the green sink and tub. thanks to urban chicks, i am now embracing the color and i am so very happy that my very favorite fabric matches perfectly!!! i made a changing pad cover with the oh' so sweet fabric!

One of my favorite things...is this quilt. i love it for several reasons. i love red, i love cheri, and i love crows, flags and flowers!

I thought I'd share...this book. It is a great book, very reasonable (I think it was $12) and it has a lot of quick, cute and simple projects.

a tip from the sewing room...when laying out your quilt. number your rows by pinning flower head pins (numbered) to the top of each row.

i hope you have a great day!!!

Quilter's Daybook

A Quilter's Day Book for May 21st, 2009
for today, May 21st, 2009

Outside my sewing room window...
my hollyhocks are finally starting to bloom!!!
i absolutely love, love, love them and i have been waiting and waiting for them
doesn't the bud look like it's made of fabric?

I am thinking...that my sewing room needs a make-over. i have now added projects (other than quilting) to my list of things to do. thankfully, bob can help me out with several of them. one of the many is this...

my dad made it for me a while ago.
with bob's help, it will soon under-go a complete makeover. stay tuned!
I am working on...this wallhanging.

after 6 years, i think it might actually get hung up this year!
On the Longarm is...this quilt that i shared with you yesterday. it is gi-NOR-mous!!!

and see that blank wall? that's about to change...

I thought I'd share...this picture! Oh.My.Gosh! I love it! do you remember the pillowcases that i showed you way back when? the flag day farm panel replicates this quilt.

Have a GREAT day!

Quilter's Day Book

A Quilter's Day Book for May 14th, 2009

for today, May 14th, 2009
Outside my sewing room window...

the finches are enjoying their lunch. there are a couple beautiful gold finch that visit and i finally got a picture of one of them.

I am thinking about...Carrie Prejean (Miss California) she went to school with my daughter, so we've followed her story. I would hope that every teen or pre-teen would watch her news conference from the other day. She is a fantastic example of standing up for your values and beliefs in a world where our values and morals are put under attack daily. She showed integrity and grace through out the whole mess and was a great deliverer of the Lord's errand.

I am working on...these flowers that are so little and cute.

and now that i have a kitty, i had to pull out this unfinished project. i need to quilt it now.

Some of my favorite things...are these antique quilt pieces. I'm going to frame the sunbonnet sue for the little princess's room and pillows from the dresden plates. I'm thinking that the baskets will be framed or become a chair cover.

On the Longarm is...this quilt from a client who has been waiting and waiting...

I thought I'd share...this book, designing with fabric, by autumn leaves. it's awesome. if you like fabric and you love scrapbooking, you'll love this book.

an altered book for fabric samples. LOVE it!

a little girls nursery. makes me want a little girl.

fun page layout made from a napkin. so cute!
and the pictures are wonderful and inspiring!
Have a GREAT day!
