LAST FROM BULGARIA.

This is the last of our pictures from Bulgaria.
It is mostly insects which we hope we have identified correctly.
The first picture is an Ant-lion, the first we have seen.
They can grow very large and look like a Dragonfly  when flying.
The Mammoth Wasps are huge but apparently
harmless, didn't put it to the test though.

WE GOT THE BLUES

We went to Collard Hill for the Large Blue and managed to see 5 or 6 individuals. This is a first for us having failed on several previous attempts. A little disappointed that we couldn't get a better picture of them with open wings but they rarely bask with them open.
We also went to a fantastic reserve called Westhay Moor hoping for Hairy Dragonfly, we saw a few but could get no pictures. Another one for next year.

Croft Pascoe.

Yesterday we paid a visit to Croft Pascoe Plantation.
We found this enormous Horse-Fly, about an inch and a half,
which is apparently the largest in the country.

COMMON CROSSBILL

We saw around 30 Crossbills, the first we have seen in Cornwall. It was very windy so lucky to get any kind of shot.

We have included the Butterflies because we have
seen hardly any of the last 2 this year.

IT'S A SMALL WORLD.

Just a few shots taken during the week.
Here's hoping for a good week-end.
