Christmas in July Hop

Hey Art Friends and Stencil Lovers!
StencilGirl and Imagine Crafts has teamed up to give you a holiday treat!
Who can resist Christmas in July?
It's a great time to think ahead and maybe get some projects started.
I decided to delve into the idea of a table topper.
I love pretty table decorations during the Christmas season.

Let's start with some plain duck cloth...It's a nice thick cotton fabric.
I wanted it circular so began with a Pam Carriker color wheel stencil.
I gave myself some penciled in guidelines and built my design out.

I used a motif from the January 2013 StencilClub Exclusive Stencils designed by MaryBeth.
StazOn Ink in Eden Green was the perfect Christmas color!
I love StazOn Ink for both paper and fabric projects.
I used my Groove Tool and went to work.

If you look closely you will see my mistakes.
I could have taped off the stencil better than I did and protected my surface.
But I am more of a gitterdone kind of girl.
Perfectly Imperfect and all that goes with it!

So my Major design areas are done in green.
I hand stitched some accent lines in red embroidery floss.

Using Imagine Craft's fabulous Fabrico Markers I added more details.

I got it to where I liked it, added thin batting and a Christmas Plaid backing fabric.
I machine quilted around some areas both for strength and durability
and for that puffy quilted look.

The circular shape was cut and binding was added.

I love how it turned out.
It will make a nice addition to the holiday table!

Get Your Groove On

Hi Friends!
Ready to get your groove on?
Today is Day 3 of StencilGirl's Groove Tool Hop.
This is a great tool to have in your arsenal!
Want to see how it works? Go here.....

I find that I use the Groove Tool often in my art and play time.
(Another place I used the Groove Tool is  here.)
And many more times too!
I liked it so much I went and bought more tips for it!

Here I used it in my Documented Life Planner in July.

It was quick and easy applying StazOn Ink with
the Damask Medium Stencil by Michelle Ward!

Along with the Groove Tool,
which was so much fun to add to my pages.
How nice that the DLP theme for July was ephemera!
Good timing!

I especially loved the little pocket....
I put tiny pictures of my grandson in there.

I love the crisp clean edges when I use the tool with my stencil!

There is a giveaway so go to all the hop blogs these 3 days
and leave comments on all of them. (only one comment per blog, though)

The prize is an awesome Groove Tool and a $25 StencilGirl Gift Certificate.
You have till 11:59 PM Central Time on Sept. 26.......

USArtQuest & a StencilGirl Hop

Hi Friends.
It is Hop Time with StencilGirl and USArtQuest this week.

I made more art for my granddaughter's baby room.
How could I resist!

Here are the supplies I used....
An 8"x10" canvas from the art store....
Art Paper by USArtQuest....
Traci Bautista's Double Zinnia stencil.....
Chipboard letters from my stash.....

First thing I did was cut some pretty floral Art Paper to fit the 8x10 canvas board.
Mod Podge to glue....
Then gessoed over the whole thing...
Then the paint and glaze through the stencil.
Play Play Play!

Layering the Magenta, Orange and Bright Yellow Perfect Pigment Paint
mixed with the Perfect Glaze
gave the piece a beautiful textured look.
The Perfect Pigment Paints are intensely colored!

Chipboard letters painted white and glued down...
a little shading here and there...
then some doodling around the edges to finish it off.

I love how it turned out!
More wall art for my Sweet Pea's room!

Hope you enjoyed the first day of this Two Day Hop.
Check out tomorrow's artists too!
Leave comments on all the blogs for more chances to win.
Comments close on September 19th @ 11:59PM Central.

GIVEAWAY
USArtQuest Decorative Papers and Perfect Pigment Acrylics
and a $25 StencilGirl Gift Certificate to one lucky winner!

Daily

I love turquoise and red together!

Merry Christmas!

I was actually REALLY looking forward to the day after Christmas
because Sketchbookery with Mary Ann Moss was starting!
So excited!

No I am not talking about Sketchbookery as not a good thing... something else entirely!
My Daily is a place where I record my happenings AND my thoughts.

I hope you are expressing yourselves in some creative way too!
Happy Arting!
