Wild Chevrons Two

Yesterday I was on the StencilTalk Blog with this Art Journal Spread,
spotlighting Andrew Borloz's Chevron Small Stencil.
Well.... Anyone who knows me
knows I have a difficult time doing just ONE of anything!
My 'job' was to use this chevron stencil and I kept my eyes open
for MANY ways to use that stencil.
Yes...some ideas came and went...
but this is a really cool stencil....
and it has SO much potential!!!
I know that Chevron popularity is at an all time high...
but I loved chevrons when chevrons weren't so cool!
I had begun this #14 Daily Journal cover last fall...
I know..I know...I just started using my #13 Daily this week...
but I always try to stay ahead of the game.
Less stress that way.
Does it look at all familiar?
Here is a hint...Look at the dimension.....
Remember the Xyron Hop from October 2013?
This is the same technique I used on those previous covers.
I used their Half Inch Double Sided Tape and embossed it...
Then built the cover up from there.

I guess I had the green and yellow thing going on in my head!
I stamped and scribbled and colored and played till I decided it was done!
I love it!

And then there is my Daily!

I think every stencil I own has been used somewhere in my Daily pages!
Obviously this is from my St. Patrick's Day Spread.
I love orange, green and purple together.

Every day is one day closer to warmer weather!
Happy March!
Happy Arting!

Xyron StencilGirl Hop

I am happy to be a part of the StencilGirl and Xyron collaboration.
What fun to get a package of Xyron Tapes and Dots in the mail!
Now to begin....,
I had two blank Strathmore Watercolor Journals
and wanted to make the covers for my next Dailies.
#11 and #12
I laid out some adhesive tape and glue dots
and some red embossing powder.
It's a start...
I gessoed over it, rubbing it off and adding more
just to get a good base for adding color.
Then some gelatos and Stampin' Up Inks for dripping and smearing....
Lots of Layers....

I sprayed Krylon Matte Finish spray on this to set the colors.
It gave a nice even matte surface to move forward with.

I added more layers of color with Neocolor II crayons.

I love this Lizzie Mayne stencil called GiGi.
I tried 2 things with it....
On this side >I rubbed a baby wipe over it and took away the crayon...
On this other side < I added paint through the stencil.
I am starting to like the look I have
but I want more dimension in my number 11.

So I add another layer of tape to do a second embossing.
I add the glue dots for flower centers
and this time I use a clear embossing powder
Perfect. It raises it just a bit more for some depth.
My final touch is a heavy layer of mod podge over the whole cover.

Even though I used a matte mod podge,
it still gives it an even shine.
And when I put it on heavy it crackles and spreads nice.
I like the texture.

I like it!

Of course I had to make two....

Mmmm... I am really loving this!
These large adhesive dots along the bottom look like rivets!
Neocolor II's here...
I used Seth Apter's number stencil in yellow posca pen.
I also highlighted little dots with a glaze pen for subtler dimension.
I love the depth I got!

There you go!
Dailies # 11 & 12.
That should take me through into the new year.

It is really fun to try new products and techniques.
Thanks to StencilGirl & Xyron for including me in this adventure!
